Harry Potter: Red Weasley The Strange Red Wizard

Chapter 257: 253) Experiment Code: "Super Unicorn 2.0"

Simultaneously with the arachnid experiment, another one was underway. Elise kept insisting, so I eventually relented and dedicated some of my energy and time to her. Although I found it risky, I couldn't ignore her determination. After all, I had taken similar risks in my own pursuit of power, and she wouldn't stop until she had tried.

In the archmage's tower, I had already gathered a significant number of different essences, each in their respective containers. Elise sat in the lineage chair, a bit nervous but determined to continue. The preventive rituals had been performed, and all that was left was to proceed.

Using unicorn essence at this stage was pointless. The unicorn lineage was already as purified as the current level of the chair allowed, according to its readings. Therefore, we had to resort to more dangerous methods. However, we had a theory that might work. These new essences didn't come from unicorns, but they seemed to share a common ancestor—though likely as distant as humans and monkeys are to each other.

Adopting my scientific demeanor, I carefully placed the essence container into the chair's designated compartment. This essence was almost entirely Elise's, with only 1% foreign material. This approach minimized the chances of rejection. Yes, the process was slow and costly, but it was much safer this way.

The chair activated, and the mechanical arms began moving with precision. I watched as Elise bit down hard, trying to stifle any sound. Through our connection, I could sense her expecting pain, though I wasn't sure if she truly felt it or if it was something else entirely. I remained vigilant, ready to intervene and stabilize her with my powers if anything went wrong.

The procedure was relatively quick, faster than previous occasions, which made sense given the minimal amount we were integrating. Elise seemed more relaxed than last time, though she was breathing heavily, likely from the tension she had built up herself.

According to her, she didn't experience any significant changes, aside from a slight itching sensation in her bones, discomfort in her muscles, and pain in her skin and internal organs. While her description sounded alarming, she assured me the discomfort was minimal. Still, she felt dizzy, so we paused to let her recover. I used my blood magic to stabilize her condition and, if possible, lay the groundwork for future changes.

I had several rituals at my disposal that could strengthen her, but many were too expensive, complex, useless, or outright impossible. The few viable ones were on a pending task list for the future. For now, what we were doing here, while risky, was much more straightforward than the rituals. The improvements were guaranteed, and the risks, though significant, were more manageable since I could intervene immediately if something went wrong.

Once Elise assured me that she didn't feel much different than before, I continued the procedure, doubling the amount of secondary essence. The proportion was now 2%. The chair lit up again, and the process began. Elise tensed once more as the essence was introduced. When it ended, the discomfort returned, and I repeated the previous steps to stabilize her.

This cycle repeated several times, increasing the secondary essence by 1% with each iteration. Between 4% and 7%, complications began to arise. These required more time for Elise to recover, but once we passed this stage, the difficulties subsided. By the time we reached 12%, Elise experienced nothing more than fatigue after each procedure. This was a good sign—we had overcome the most challenging part. However, I knew this was only the beginning, as the lineage we were integrating was inferior compared to what we planned.

With more confidence in the results, I decided to increase the essence dosage more quickly. We jumped from 15% to 20%, then to 25%, and beyond: 35%, 45%, 55%. Although Elise grew increasingly tired from the continuous experiments, we persisted: 70%, 85%, until finally reaching 100%. By this point, we were injecting pure essence with no trace of unicorn.

Even so, I occasionally interspersed small doses of unicorn essence. This was because integrating another lineage tended to dilute the unicorn lineage. By alternating between the two, I hoped to push them both to their maximum potential without compromising either. Eventually, I noticed that the secondary essence had reached its limit according to the chair's analysis.

[---Lys---]

[Lineages]

Unicorn: 100.0%

Horse: 100.0%

Super-Unicorn: 17.0%

Super-Horse: 43.1%

Yes, the essence we were adding came from an ordinary horse—or almost. I had gathered specimens of every available horse species and variant. With effort in both the present and past alongside Newt, and with the merchant's abilities, I managed to combine their essences into a single blend representing a lineage composed of all existing horses. It was a complicated process, but it was worth it.

Elise staggered out of the chair. She was conscious, though dizzy and disoriented, with slightly blurred vision. I had chosen the horse, a non-magical creature, because integrating it would be less dangerous than attempting to fuse magical bloodlines. Based on my prior experiments, the likelihood of success when combining non-magical lineages was significantly higher. While others trying something similar would likely weaken the unicorn lineage by mixing it with something so mundane, my method avoided that degeneration.

Elise spent some time in rehabilitation to regain her optimal state. I made sure to record every change in her body and abilities. As for her appearance, the changes were subtle. In the previous experiment, she had grown between 5 and 10 centimeters. This time, the increase was smaller, barely 1 or 2 centimeters. Still, I worried she might keep growing, as excessive size could complicate certain things. Her coat became less lustrous, with a slightly altered texture, though the overall quality didn't seem to diminish. Her eyes grew marginally larger with a slightly different hue, and her platinum hooves took on a duller sheen, though they retained their powerful and magical appearance.

Externally, the changes weren't alarming, but we had to evaluate other aspects. According to Elise, she felt internal differences she couldn't precisely identify. We conducted some physical tests that, unexpectedly, turned sexual due to a sudden episode of estrus. According to Elise, it was a side effect of the experiment, though I still had my doubts.

Based on the tests conducted and Elise's feedback, there were no significant changes in her magical abilities—perhaps a marginal 1% increase. In contrast, the physical improvements were far more noticeable, with increases of 5% to 10%. She had been strong to begin with, so now her physical capabilities, including her speed, had risen significantly. I wouldn't want to face Elise in a strength duel or be in her path during a charge, at least not without activating [Rage] to level the field.

This process took us about a week. While the horse essence had strengthened her, it was merely the prelude to something much greater, a light preparation for what was to come. There were still other ordinary animals within the equine category, like donkeys and zebras, that we could add later if needed.

We had several distinct essences to experiment with, each from different bloodlines that I had been purifying over time, seeking their purest and most concentrated versions.

Using the previous sessions as a reference, we began this experiment following the same format, starting with an initial dose of 1%. The first essence we used was a sky-blue color, clearly visible in its container. From the outset, it was evident that this essence possessed much more intense magical power, something that was also apparent from Elise's screams as the procedure began.

I won't deny that I was frightened by her cries and the sight of her suffering, even though I had seen how painful the integration process could be with the chair. However, what truly alarmed me was seeing her bleed from her orifices. Even so, I persisted until the end, assisting Elise once the procedure was over. Her recovery was much slower this time, and although she showed hesitation due to the pain she had just experienced, she decided to continue. She knew how much she wanted this transformation, and I was determined to help her achieve her dreams, no matter the challenges and pain involved.

We increased the dose to 2% and proceeded, but progress was slow and complicated: it took us three attempts to reach 3% due to the repercussions of incompatibility. Even with those small increments, Elise suffered greatly. The new lineage had barely reached 4.7% in her body, but severe issues were already emerging. While she stopped bleeding from most of her orifices, her nose continued to drip blood, and new wounds kept appearing. On her back, malformed bones and cancerous stubs began to grow, which I had to treat with magic. Additionally, her hooves developed small protrusions, and her anus bled persistently, as if it had sustained internal injuries. Witnessing and treating these consequences was extremely difficult, to the point where we had to take a prolonged break for her recovery.

Three days later, we resumed the experiment, but this time we kept the lineage proportions low. Each new addition caused wounds or accelerated the growth of deformed formations, though we gradually began noticing more stable changes. The percentage of foreign essence increased slowly, but the rest periods between sessions also lengthened. Finally, between 10% and 20% of the lineage assimilated, small wings began to grow on her back, though they were completely disproportionate to her body.

Unlike the process with the horse lineage, Elise stopped suffering intensely upon reaching 40%. It was a difficult advance, but we managed to stabilize the new lineage in her body. Although discomfort and pain persisted, they became tolerable, and I no longer feared she would bleed out during the procedure. From that point on, we were able to accelerate the integration process. However, we faced a new obstacle: those wings, while growing, did so incorrectly and disproportionately. Increasing the lineage didn't guarantee they would adjust or improve over time.

This added more time and torment to the process, as I had to repeatedly tear off her wings and regenerate them using my blood magic. There are no words to describe how horrible it was to harm her in that way, but fortunately, I had methods to alleviate her pain outside the chair. Even though the time required for the work increased, her suffering decreased significantly.

The lineage continued to grow more steadily until it reached 80%. Beyond that point, progress became difficult. Even though I was injecting pure pegasus essence, the increments were minimal, and the other lineages slightly diminished. I had to inject multiple pure lineages to maximize all of them, which left Elise spending much of the time dazed, as if drugged, and repeatedly falling into short comas. This process also drastically increased the costs, to the point where I had to manufacture gold constantly to finance it. However, after much more time than anticipated, we finally succeeded.

I smiled as I looked at Elise, unconscious on the chair. Her color had lost all its luster, but the machine's data didn't lie:
