Harry Potter Enshrouded

Chapter 14: A Bond Forged in Light and Shadow

The golden and pink glows faded, leaving Adrian and Evanna staring at the magical creatures that had emerged from their respective eggs. Adrian's Ho-Oh stood proudly, its feathers shimmering in shades of crimson, gold, and orange. The bird's tail flowed like a stream of fire, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly intelligence. Evanna's Nekomata sat poised on its haunches, its two tails swaying magically. The sleek black feline had emerald green eyes that seemed to pierce through the very soul. It also had faint silvery runes, that shimmered on its fur giving it a pristine look

Adrian's breathing momentarily came to a halt as the Ho-Oh spread its wings, releasing a faint golden mist that filled the air with a calming warmth. The bird stepped forward, nuzzling its beak affectionately against Adrian's hand. A wave of connection surged through him, as though Ho-Oh's very essence had intertwined with his own. At the same moment, Evanna's Nekomata purred and rubbed against her legs, its tails curling protectively around her. Evanna knelt, gently stroking the feline's fur, feeling a similar bond forming.

"It's... incredible," Adrian murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.

"They're ours," Evanna replied, her eyes shimmering with awe.

The two sat in silence for a moment, basking in the presence of their new companions. Yet questions lingered in their minds;what were these creatures capable of? and how could they protect them from unwanted attention?

The next morning, Adrian and Evanna slipped out of their dormitories, their companions hidden in enchanted satchels Adrian had quickly procured. The satchels ensured the Ho-Oh and Nekomata would stay hidden and safe. The siblings were headed to the library hoping to discover more about their respective magical creatures.

As they made their way into the towering shelves of Hogwarts' library, Madam Pince sharp eyes followed their movements. Adrian and Evanna split up, scouring sections on magical creatures, rare species, and magical bonds. After an hour of searching, they met up at a secluded table tucked away in a corner.

" At last! I found something," Evanna said in an exhausted tone, as she placed a book titled Mystic Creatures of the Eastern Realms on the table. "There's an entire section on the Ho-Oh."

Adrian glanced into the book as Evanna flipped to the page. Adrian saw an illustration of the Ho-Oh and it's abilities

The Ho-Oh and ancient magical bird, is native to the east and is considered sacred there. This bird is extremely rare, even rarer than the amazing Phoenix.

The following were the abilities of an Ho-Oh

Prophetic Vision: The Ho-Oh could foresee important moments, gifting its bonded human with a lesser form of this ability. The ones bonded with the Ho-Oh are also said to have an innate prophecy talent, especially through using crystal ball. Adrian read as he learnt that having an Ho-Oh meant that he would be able to predict movements in battle a few seconds ahead. This was a skill that could be life changing.

Healing Tears: The bird's tears had healing properties, though far less potent compared to the Phoenix.

Apparition: The Ho-Oh apparate through anti-apparition wards.

Potion Materials: The Ho-Oh's feathers, ash and tears are said to have magical properties however, since the species is so rare, nobody knows what its properties are.

Adrian leaned back feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information. Now that he thought about it, it made sense to keep the Ho-Oh hidden.

Soon, Evanna flipped through another page which described Nekomata's abilities.

Adrian skimmed the text. The Nekomata's abilities were unique:

Shadow Manipulation: The Nekomata could manipulate shadows to obscure itself and its bonded human, creating a shroud of darkness to escape detection.

Emotional Empathy: The creature could sense and influence emotions, providing comfort or sowing fear as needed.

Apparition: Like the Ho-Oh, the Nekomata apparate and anti-apparation wards could be ignored.

Rune Magic: The runes on a Nekomata's fur are said to amplify the spells casted by a human.

"It's incredible," Evanna said,"But it's also clear we'll need to be careful. If anybody from the ministry finds out, they might try to take them from us. You also cannot guarantee that nobody would tryi to steal them and sell them in Knockturn Alley "

Back in the Room of Requirement, Adrian and Evanna devised a plan. The satchels worked well however, they were not a long term solution. They needed something more efficient therefore, Instead of trapping the creatures in a confined space, Adrian and Evanna decided to modify the satchel and create small, self-contained environments for their companions. These spaces were separate magical dimensions, accessible through enchanted artifacts. They were primarily based on the traceless stretching charm.

However, a problem remained. Evanna was the only one who knew the traceless stretching charm. So, it came to her to modify the satchels which she successfully managed to do. In the process, she also decided to give the satchel a different appearance. Adrians satchel was converted into a bracelet while hers turned into a necklace. The places created using the trackless stretching charm were heaven for the creatures. They were boundless and full of space unfolding the shackles that could have potentially bound the creatures.

As the creation of both the items was completed, the siblings decided to practice with their creatures. They needed to ensure that they could control the concealment spells and navigate these enchanted spaces. By the time the sun rose, they were confident in their ability to keep their magical companions hidden and content.

As they stood in the quiet of the Room of Requirement, the Ho-Oh and the Nekomata were kept hidden their tools.

"We'll protect them," Adrian said firmly. "No matter what."

Evanna nodded. "They're part of us now. And together, we'll keep them safe."

The two siblings left the room, their bonds with their creatures stronger than ever and their resolve unshakable. They knew that challenges lay ahead yet for now, they had themselves and their companions who would always provide the necessary aid.
