Harry Potter: Demon Monarch

Chapter 47: Chapter -47 Coward.

Chapter -47.

As a senior Auror at the Ministry of Magic, Moody was well aware of the various dark activities occurring within the Ministry.

Regrettably, despite being of pureblood lineage, his family's influence was significantly weaker than that of the few dominant families, leaving Moody with no choice but to stay silent in the face of these dark dealings.

However, he never anticipated that his apathy towards this injustice would almost lead to the downfall of the Auror squad.

"Woo woo woo!!!"

Even though they were deep underground, the arrival of numerous Dementors brought cold winds sweeping through the office on the third underground level.

The Aurors nearest to the Dementors were the first to feel the effects; before the Dementors could strike, the debuff they carried rendered many Aurors ineffective in combat immediately.

Furthermore, even the pureblood wizards, who were farther away from the Dementors, felt some impact.

However, the effect was minimal, much less severe than what the Aurors experienced.

This does not imply that those privileged officials were particularly strong-willed; rather, it suggested that they had never faced any setbacks or terrifying situations in their lives.

Similar to the movies, when Harry encountered the Dementors for the first time, he fainted instantly, while the other students merely paled in fear.

Can this be interpreted as Harry being a coward?

To clarify, Harry Potter had just started school and had the courage to confront Voldemort in his first year, certainly the kind of bold individual one would expect. Yet, this incredibly brave boy was actually rendered unconscious by a Dementor.

This was not due to anything else, but because Harry had witnessed the most horrifying moment of his life—Voldemort using the Killing Curse to kill his parents. Thus, the Dementor triggered painful memories, causing Harry to faint from fear.

As for the group of aristocrats born with a silver spoon, they naturally had a smooth journey.

Not to mention terrifying experiences, they seldom faced setbacks. Therefore, the appearance of the Dementors only had a minor effect on them, not impeding their spellcasting. The prisoners with Lester were the least affected.

After all, these prisoners had been living alongside the Dementors for several years and had long since acclimated to their presence.

Moreover, from the current situation, it appeared that the Dementors were still on their side, so they certainly would not be afraid; instead, their spellcasting speed increased significantly.

"Woo woo woo!!!" The Dementors that had just been summoned let out a chilling roar and immediately flew towards the demoralized Aurors nearby.

The black, tattered cloaks rustled ominously in the office, and whenever they enveloped an Auror's head, it signified that an Auror's soul was being drained! In an instant, as the Dementors entered, several Aurors lost their lives on the spot, their entire souls becoming sustenance for the Dementors.

While the Dementors were consuming souls, Lester was not idle.

"Protego Diabolica!"

Despite his internal magic power nearing exhaustion from excessive spellcasting, Lester opted to unleash the flame spell to deliver a devastating blow to the Auror forces.

As Lester chanted, the blue Fire Python reappeared in the air. Unlike previous occasions, this time the Fire Python manifested directly in the center of the Auror forces.

Upon its appearance, the terrifying fire instantly engulfed several Aurors who had no time to react, while the scorching flames heated the surrounding air, causing it to hiss.

Roar!!!!

The giant python opened its mouth and roared at the surrounding Aurors, while a burst of blue fire erupted from its mouth, instantly claiming the lives of several Aurors.

[Ding! Fear value from Kahn gained +140]

[Ding! Fear value from Nawa gained +165]

[Ding! Fear value from Mad-Eye Moody gained +800]

[...]

Suddenly, with the deaths of the Aurors, another wave of fear values was added to Lester. Simultaneously, Lester's fear value officially reached a staggering 1 million points.

[Ding! Detected that the host's fear value has reached 1 million, system upgrading]

This time, upon reaching 1 million points, unlike before when only a higher-level lottery was unlocked, the system directly entered an upgrade state. Fortunately, the system upgrade did not take long; just a few seconds later, the pleasant prompt sound of the system rang in Lester's ears again.

[Ding! System upgrade successful!]

[Dark Lord System]

[Host: Lester Bailey]

[Magic Power: 10+ (10,000 fear value/point)]

[Spells Mastered: God-level Invisibility (max level, cannot be upgraded)

Wall-Passing Spell (basic spell, cannot be upgraded)

Transfiguration (from a Boggart, cannot be upgraded)

Protego Diabolica Level 2 (934/1000)]

[Task: Prisoners wraith]

[Lottery: 0 times (1,000,000 fear value/time)]

Lester discovered that the newly upgraded system, in addition to the higher-level lottery he had long awaited, also unlocked a new function, which allowed him to use fear value to enhance his magic power!

"Great!"

Although he was currently in battle, a glimmer of joy still shone in Lester's eyes.

At just 10 years old, possessing a range of advanced magic, he lacked sufficient magic power to support better spellcasting.

If he had the magic power of an adult wizard, could the Fire Python he summoned be so easily dispersed by others? Just as Lester contemplated whether to invest all his fear value into magic power, he suddenly felt a chill behind him and saw a deadly Killing Curse rapidly approaching him.

"Protego Diabolica!" With no time to think, Lester, who was suddenly ambushed, instinctively cast the Blue flame spell, summoning a ball of blue fire to block in front of him.

Boom!

A loud explosion was heard as the deadly curse collided with the fierce fire in mid-air, unexpectedly detonating right there. The massive shockwave sent Lester flying, crashing hard against the office wall.

"Lord Bernard Venus has arrived!"

Suddenly, a cheer erupted from the pure-blood camp, with everyone excitedly shouting one name.

Bernard Venus!

It was as if this name held some magical power; the previously timid Ministry of Magic officials instantly perked up at the moment Bernard Venus appeared.

Like they had been injected with adrenaline, they frantically hurled curses at Lester's side of prisoners.

Unlike Lester and the others, who were confused about the situation, Ludo, who had been hiding in the ruins, trembled in fear upon hearing Bernard's name.

While others might not know how powerful Bernard Venus was, Ludo, as the head of the Department of Magical Sports, certainly did.

There are several top ruling families within the Ministry of Magic, each controlling important departments.

And Venus, who holds the only violent agency within the Ministry, is certainly not a simple character.

In fact, some speculate that Venus is a powerful wizard whose strength rivals that of Dumbledore, but he has always maintained a low profile.

At the same time, Arlis's expression was extremely grim; as a former top enforcer of the Venus family, he knew Bernard Venus better than anyone.

One could say that Arlis believed he could hold his own against almost anyone in the magical world, except for a few formidable figures at Hogwarts.

However, Bernard Venus is one of the few powerful beings who could easily overpower Arlis.

There are even rumors that Bernard Venus's strength is comparable to Severus Snape's.

Of course, this is merely a rumor; in reality, the two have never fought against each other, but just based on the rumors, one can see how terrifying Bernard Venus's power is, especially considering that he is a well-known figure in the dark wizarding community!
