Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Devil
"Hey, are we going to Hell?"
"No, let's go to Gotham. Lucifer is everywhere in this world."
"She... Lucifer is a woman!"
"Well, she's a beautiful woman."
"My God!"
Outside the Lux Bar, the city was wrapped in a night filled with sin and mystery.
Chino pushed open the door and stepped inside. The bar was dimly lit, filled with the scent of aged wood and a mix of various alcoholic drinks.
At the bar counter, Lucifer sat gracefully, holding a wine glass in one hand. A playful glint shone in her eyes, and the faint light cast a mesmerizing glow on her curves.
"Chino, you've arrived," Lucifer's voice was smooth and enchanting.
Chino approached with Pamela by his side, nodding lightly. "Lucif, I've been waiting for you."
Pamela also gazed at Lucifer with curiosity. Contrary to the terrifying image of the legendary devil, Lucifer was breathtakingly beautiful. Her demeanor was noble and calm, her features were exquisite, and her body was elegantly proportioned. Every part of her seemed flawless, and for a moment, Pamela felt self-conscious.
Lucifer's eyes flickered toward Pamela.
"So, this is the lover you've chosen? The green genius of all living things... not bad."
Lucifer examined Pamela closely and smirked. "But she's nothing compared to me. Clearly, I'm far more beautiful."
"!!!"
Pamela's eyes widened in shock. This simple statement made it clear—Lucifer had no intention of hiding her pride. Even as a woman, Pamela couldn't deny Lucifer's overwhelming beauty.
"Because of you, I refused. And because of me, Pamela accepted," Chino said as he held Pamela's hand.
Pamela didn't fully understand what he meant, but she happily hugged Chino and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
"Tch. My body alone isn't enough for you? You want my heart too? You're greedier than even the demons of Hell," Lucifer pouted, but a hint of amusement flickered in her golden eyes. She had lost.
Before, she had deliberately refrained from using magic to control Chino. But that didn't mean she hadn't considered using more... primal means to influence him.
Well, she had miscalculated.
Pamela had fallen in love with Chino because he wasn't afraid of the toxins in her body. He accepted her fully, both heart and soul.
"Pamela, am I greedy?"
"Of course not, my love."
The two unconsciously began showering each other with affection in front of Lucifer, spreading an atmosphere of sweet romance.
Lucifer furrowed her brows slightly and let out a small, annoyed snort. "Alright, that's enough, you two."
"Now then, I have a reward for you."
Chino took the bracelet she handed him. "What is this, Lucifer?"
"The Bracelet of Hell. Wear it, and you'll understand."
Chino immediately put it on. The bracelet shifted and transformed into intricate patterns that embedded themselves onto his wrist. In that instant, a message appeared in his mind. As he raised his hand, a black vortex materialized before him.
A deep rumbling noise echoed, accompanied by the eerie sound of something sharp slicing through the air.
From within the vortex, creatures began to emerge.
Some demons were engulfed in violent flames, bouncing around as if trying to ignite the very air itself. Others were as massive as mountains, shaking the ground slightly with every step. Some were covered in razor-sharp blades, their cold metallic glint enough to strike fear into anyone's heart.
Pamela instinctively clung to Chino, her eyes wide with terror as she watched the demons step out of the portal.
The demons advanced toward Chino, then, without hesitation, knelt before him and bowed their heads.
"We greet His Majesty, the Demon King!"
Chino gazed at the creatures before him, feeling the connection that bound their lives under his command.
"Lucifer, what is this?"
"These are demons of Hell. I used the foundation of Hell to recreate its essence here."
Lucifer spoke casually, as if she had just gifted him some ordinary trinket.
"I selected these demons personally. Almost every type is available. You don't need to worry about them most of the time—just keep them sealed in Hell and summon them when necessary. If they die, they'll simply resurrect in Hell."
"Thank you, Lucifer. I really like this gift."
Chino examined the demons. This was only a fraction of them, a mere glimpse of their full strength.
"Well, of course! Otherwise, no one would desire my body or my gifts. That would be so embarrassing," Lucifer huffed.
"Lucifer, if I ever go to another world, I'll do this again. I won't refuse."
"Ha! I think you're quite beautiful too, but now I regret it. It's too late, though."
As the conversation flowed, Pamela gradually relaxed. Her fear faded, replaced by curiosity. She observed the demons closely, eager to study them like mythological specimens.
"You may all return. I will summon you when needed."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The demons rose and began walking back into the vortex.
"Wait, Chino! Leave that one behind!"
Suddenly, Venom appeared and pointed at one of the demons.
Pamela's eyes twitched in irritation, but something about this particular demon caught her attention. It was humanoid but constantly shifting, its form never settling into a single shape.
Lucifer chuckled. "A shapeshifting demon. They are among the weaker demons in Hell, but they possess impressive transformation abilities and intelligence. Back when I ruled Hell, I used them to manage things behind the scenes."
"Venom, what are you planning?"
[I'm interested in its abilities. Let me copy them.]
"You are not allowed to resist," Chino commanded the demon.
"Understood!"
The shapeshifting demon bowed its head, allowing Venom's black tendrils to invade its body.
After a while, Venom retracted its appendages and returned to its original battle-suit form.
"Venom?"
[Don't disturb me. I need to process this.]
"...Oh."
Chino muttered in dissatisfaction. Ever since arriving in the DC world, Venom had been acting a little strange.
"Fascinating. Truly fascinating."
Lucifer's golden eyes gleamed with excitement as a playful smile curved on her lips.
"May I ask your name?"
Venom ignored her. Chino turned to the shapeshifting demon instead.
"What's your name?"
The demon knelt before him and answered, "Your Majesty, I do not have a name."
"From today onwards, you shall be called Xi, the demon who oversees Hell's order."
A red rune appeared on Chino's fingertip and branded itself onto Xi's forehead.
"Yes! I am eternally grateful, Your Majesty!"
Xi trembled with excitement. She had merely stayed behind on a whim, never expecting to be personally acknowledged by the Demon King.
Quote of the Chapter:"Power is not given, it is taken. And once you take it, the real challenge is keeping it."
