Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Poison Ivy Girl
Nico's family was caught off guard by the sudden attack, letting out screams as they ran in panic.
Boom—
Pamela's body was still in a weakened state. If she used her powers recklessly, she would fall into a coma.
"Poison Ivy Girl?"
Chino crouched down beside Pamela and gently touched her skin with his soft, smooth hand.
However, the green traces on her body continued to spread along his fingers, and soon, black venomous tissue appeared on his wrist, causing the green hue to vanish.
"You idiot, don't touch her so carelessly. Don't you know her body is poisonous?"
"Forget it, Venom. Try mimicking her ability."
As Chino said this, the black tissue on his wrist seeped into Pamela's body and quickly withdrew.
[Mimicry Successful. Please test the ability.]
Chino closed his eyes. A crystal on his chest shimmered, displaying the pattern of a poison ivy girl. At that moment, the two of them became connected.
Chino's body turned green. When he opened his eyes and looked at the ground, small sprouts emerged, blossoming into delicate white flowers.
"What an incredible power. With enough energy, I could turn a desert into an oasis."
[Then, what should we do next? Kill her.]
"...I am not a murderer. Why would I kill her?" Chino's mouth twitched.
[You were thrown here, weren't you?]
Chino pondered for a moment, then rummaged through Pamela's belongings. He pulled out her wallet and counted the money inside. It was less than a thousand dollars.
"This is enough. I'll cover tonight's lodging. Take her and check her in."
He picked up Pamela and started walking toward a hotel.
[With you, I'd rather die burning in passion!]
Venom emerged and bit Chino's head.
"Stop it!!!"
As he walked through the streets, the passersby assumed the blood on his face and the strange accessory on his head were part of a performance. Even Pamela, who lay unconscious in his arms, seemed to be an actress playing her role.
After all, this was Gotham. Street performers were common, and unexpected occurrences weren't unusual.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Chino checked in and tossed Pamela onto a separate bed.
"Venom, can you let go now?"
[Hmph, you fool.]
Venom snorted and reluctantly withdrew.
Chino sighed. Sometimes, he truly couldn't understand what Venom was thinking.
He took a quick shower, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep.
After Chino drifted into slumber, venomous tendrils silently extended from his chest.
They carefully pulled up the blanket, covering Chino, then quietly observed his face, lost in thought.
In truth, Venom had never lost consciousness when it was frozen.
It remembered Chino's anxiety, fear, and worry at that time, and those emotions had made Venom feel uncomfortable.
When it saw Chino holding another woman in his arms, a surge of anger welled up inside it.
[What is wrong with me?]** Venom muttered to itself.** By reading Chino's memories, it learned that this feeling was called jealousy. However, it couldn't understand why it felt this way—after all, it wasn't human.
Venom quietly moved into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. It began mimicking Pamela's appearance, slowly reshaping its body. Eventually, the only part still connected to Chino was a thin tendril at the back.
Looking at its reflection, Venom saw that its form was distorted, lacking any semblance of human beauty. Only its face remained in its original shape.
Suddenly, with a "pop" sound, Venom's body instantly dissolved and reformed back into Chino.
[Annoying Chino… so annoying!]
—
The early morning sun streamed through the window, illuminating Pamela's face.
She pulled up the blanket to block the sunlight and went back to sleep.
Moments later, Pamela suddenly sat up, glancing around at the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Is this a hotel?"
Noticing that her clothes were still intact, she let out a sigh of relief.
"Yeah… Who would be interested in a monster like me?"
Pamela smiled bitterly. Her body was poisonous—it could kill a person in mere seconds.
Click—
The door opened, and the man from last night stood there.
"Since you're awake, I bought breakfast. I don't know if it suits your taste, but let's eat together."
Chino placed the food on the dining table.
"Oh… Thank you. But aren't you afraid of me?"
"Afraid of what?"
Chino looked puzzled.
"My appearance. Don't you think my green skin is disgusting?"
As she spoke, Pamela shrank back slightly, sadness evident in her expression.
Every morning when she woke up, she despised her own green skin and the toxins that coated her body. Touching another person could mean their death.
"To be honest, I think it looks pretty good. With your red hair, you resemble a gorgeous rose."
After her mutation, Pamela's body had undergone changes—her curves became more defined, her face more striking, and her wavy red hair flowed like silk.
Hearing Chino's words, Pamela was taken aback. A warm feeling filled her heart. She had never expected someone to say such things to her.
"Do you really think so?" Pamela asked hesitantly.
Chino nodded seriously. "Of course. Your green skin is unique, and your red hair is beautiful. Plus, your abilities are amazing."
A smile appeared on Pamela's face. This was the first time she had been complimented since her mutation. She walked to the table and looked at the hearty breakfast spread before her.
"Thank you for your kind words, kid. My name is Pamela Lillian Isley. You can call me Pamela."
"My name is Chino, Pamela."
"Well, it's been a long time since I've had a proper breakfast, so… Thank you, Chino."
Pamela took a bite of the sandwich.
"You're welcome. After all, I bought it with your money."
"Huh?" She coughed. "Why did the hotel cost money?"
"It was your money, after all."
Pamela took out her wallet, only to find it empty. That was her monthly living expense.
With no guilt, Chino munched on a chocolate bar. "You killed my prey yesterday and fell into Xiao Hei's alley. I just used your money to book the room."
"Wait a minute, why did you bring me here last night?" Pamela asked.
"Come here."
Did the experiment succeed yesterday?
"Chino, can you help me with an experiment?"
Pamela looked at Chino expectantly.
"I can."
Chino guessed what experiment she was referring to and reached out his hand.
Pamela gently touched Chino's finger, and a small amount of green toxin seeped into him.
However, just as she tried to extract the poison, the green hue spread rapidly throughout Chino's body.
"No!!!"
Pamela panicked. The poison wasn't supposed to be lethal, so why was this happening?
Tears streamed down her cheeks. She hated the professor who had injected her with toxins and turned her into a monster.
A green vine extended from the table, gently wiping away her tears.
"Were you scared? I forgot to mention—I'm a monster too."
