Happry Potter: The New Player

Chapter 5: The Charm of the Weasley Family

I must confess that the Weasleys are a delightful family.

Mr. Weasley, who has extensive experience dealing with Muggles, calmed the anxiety of both couples after being introduced to Evan and Hermione, although he occasionally showed his obsession with Muggle items.

As for Mrs. Weasley, upon stepping out of the fireplace, her first act was to embrace several children, including Evan, whose hug was even longer than Harry's; she also repeatedly thanked him for helping Harry, which slightly embarrassed Evan.

Among the few Weasley children, Percy Weasley courteously gave Evan and Hermione a meticulous gesture that reminded Evan of an aristocrat.

Behind Percy are Fred and George, a pair of intriguing twins, except for the occasional pranks that are truly hard to hate.

Regarding Harry's best friend, freckled and awkward in appearance, who tried to drive a car a week ago to save Harry, this action greatly displeased Hermione.

Ginny, staying with Mrs. Weasley, is the same age as Evan, a beautiful red-haired girl, but she is too shy to utter a word in Harry's presence.

After a brief introduction, they prepared to go to the Wizarding Bank of Gringotts to exchange their money.

This is the first time Evan sees the goblins, who are not much better than house-elves, but he noticed that they are quite different from house-elves as he saw the cunning sparkle in their eyes.

They climbed white stone stairs to a grand marble hall.

Around a dozen goblins are seated behind the long counter, some counting coins, others inspecting gems. Countless doors lead to different places, with many goblin guides coming and going.

Harry and the Weasleys, led by a goblin named Grip Hook, were going to withdraw money from their vault, while Evan and Hermione needed to exchange pounds to the magical world's currency in the hall.

The Grangers exchanged £10, and the Masons received a large bag of galleons, far beyond the total value of the items on the school shopping list.

After about fifteen minutes, Harry and the Weasleys emerged from the underground vault.

Outside the bank, on the marble steps, Percy was murmuring about buying a new quill, Fred and George spotted their friend Lee Jordan, and Mr. Weasley insisted on inviting the Mason couple and the Grangers for a drink at the Leaky Cauldron.

Evan looked at Harry, who seemed to have something to tell Ron and Hermione in private, and upon reflection, Evan decided to go with Mrs. Weasley and Ginny to buy robes and wands for school.

"In an hour, meet at Flourish & Blotts," said Mrs. Weasley as she walked away with Ginny and Evan.

"And don't go to Knockturn Alley either," she shouted to the twins from behind.

"Mrs. Weasley, where shall we go to purchase wands, given that it's my first time in Diagon Alley?" asked Evan.

"Dear, we will go to Ollivanders since you and Ginny need a wand." Mrs. Weasley turned and smiled at Evan, "But we must make haste, there is so much to buy, and today there's a book signing event with the new Gilderoy Lockhart, we mustn't be late."

"Gilderoy Lockhart?" Evan frowned. "I saw the required books on the school list, and I don't know what the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was thinking, those book prices are not cheap."

"Yes, perhaps your new teacher is a fan of Lockhart, after all, he's so charming, but purchasing five Lockhart books all at once is truly overpriced." Mrs. Weasley appeared somewhat saddened. "I'm sorry, Ginny, I think this year you'll have to buy many second-hand items."

"No matter, mother," Ginny seemed oblivious to how distraught Mrs. Weasley was about it. She blinked at Evan and whispered, "My mother is obsessed with Lockhart and truly admires him."

"Don't talk nonsense, Ginny," Mrs. Weasley said.

Mrs. Weasley blushed, "You have to admit it is truly captivating to be a great wizard."

Particularly appealing to middle-aged to elderly women, Evan mentally noted what a great liar Lockhart was, feeling no goodwill towards him; sooner or later, he would be exposed. He didn't want to dwell on this topic.

What surprised him was Ginny.

The girl wasn't as shy as when he first saw her. In Harry's absence, she immediately returned to her normal self, a very talkative and energetic girl.

On the way, she told Evan many things about her home.

It could be inferred that unlike Ron, she didn't really mind using second-hand items her brother had used. Except for one thing, wearing a second-hand school uniform which greatly frustrated her.

The three arrived at an old shop while chatting.

The sign on the door was peeling, and it read: "Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C."

In the dusty display case, a wand was placed alone on a faded purple cushion.

As they entered the shop, a tinkling sound came from the back of the room. Evan looked around, the shop was tiny, with only one bench in front of the counter.

Not far away, there were nearly a thousand small cardboard boxes that almost reached the ceiling.

All kinds of wands were in them, and somehow Evan felt that the dust and silence of the place seemed to hold a mysterious charm.

Mrs. Weasley led them to sit on the bench, and shortly after, a soft voice was heard from the shop.
