Happry Potter: The New Player

Chapter 16: The Making of a Newspaper

Harry and Ron whispered to each other, while Evan and Hermione sat at the other end of the table.

"He's quite handsome, isn't he?" whispered Hermione.

"What?" exclaimed Evan, following her gaze he noticed whom she was referring to, her eyes were fixed on the teachers' table, more precisely Lockhart seated there.

"Order of Merlin, Third Class; Honorary Member of the Dark Arts Defense League; and a five-time winner of the Most Charming Smile of Witch Week award, not just anyone can receive these accolades," remarked Hermione, as she pulled out a book titled "Travels with Vampires," "We have Defense Against the Dark Arts class this afternoon, it will be his first class at Hogwarts."

"He's a great wizard, but it's a pity that first-years have to wait until tomorrow to hear his lessons," stated Hermione.

Evan, in fact, was relieved not to have to attend Lockhart's lesson today.

He vividly recalled what happens in Lockhart's first class, so he did not want to be attacked by a group of Cornish Pixies. He hoped this class would teach Lockhart a lesson, not to unleash things he cannot control.

Soon, the four of them parted ways, with Harry, Ron, and Hermione heading to Lockhart's class, while Evan returned to the Gryffindor common room since first-years did not have classes at that time.

In the Gryffindor common room, Evan worked with Fred and George to finalize the posters for the newspaper, the slogans were written in bold text, detailing publication information, submissions, royalties, ordering methods, and prices.

To help increase the user base, Evan decided to give away the first issue of "The Magic of Hogwarts," as long as the content was compelling enough to attract buyers, it would be worthwhile.

After Fred and George left, Colin invited Evan to play a game, but he declined, then he went to the library to gather information for the History of Hogwarts section of "The Magic of Hogwarts."

He plans to divide the section into two parts, the first part titled "Hogwarts, a History" will focus mainly on significant historical events that have taken place in the school's history.

The first story will be about the founders of Hogwarts.

It's written in the book called "Hogwarts, a History," but Evan believes that only a few wizards have truly read it, at least Harry and Ron have never read the book.

He will also write about things not mentioned in the book.

For the information not introduced in the book, he will consult Professor Binns.

As for the second part of the "Hogwarts, a History" section, I think I will name it "Forgotten Memories."

This part is mainly to introduce information about Hogwarts graduates, Evan has not yet decided on whom to write about.

He wanted to talk about Dumbledore, but could not find anything about the headmaster that was not widely known.

Regarding another well-known figure, Evan found a ton of information about Tom Riddle, but he does not want others to think it's propaganda for Voldemort.

"Whom should I write about, they should be famous enough for other students to know who they are, but they cannot be a Dark wizard?"

All afternoon, Evan sat in the library leafing through the Hogwarts books, each book was very thick and stacked on top of each other in a pile taller than himself.

Irma Pince, the librarian, observed Evan trying to understand what the student was up to. She had never seen a first-year student like Evan, sitting in the library on the first day of classes, reading these dull history books.

Around three in the afternoon, Ginny came to fetch Evan.

"I have heard Colin mention that you would be in the library," said Ginny, "I just received a letter from Hagrid inviting us to his cabin."

"Very well, I'm ready for a break anyway." Evan got up, rubbing his eyes, and returned the books he had in his hand, but he hadn't decided yet on whom to write about.

As they finally walked out of the castle door and took in a breath of fresh air, Evan felt rejuvenated.

"Evan, I heard Hermione mention that you are starting a newspaper."

"Yes, indeed!" Evan nodded, "Since you reminded me, I can take this opportunity to inform Hagrid about the newspaper and try to get him to join. I believe he will be delighted to showcase the creatures of the Forbidden Forest."

"Yes, yes!"

Ginny looked at Evan with a glint of admiration and said, "A newspaper is amazing; I have never heard of a student starting their own before."

"It's not impossible when you have people helping you; Hermione, Harry, and some of your brothers are assisting me."

"Since everyone is helping, may I help too, if you don't mind?" Ginny asked shyly.

Evan looked at her and decided to tease her a bit.

"Ginny, it's not easy to run a newspaper," Evan said deliberately in a serious tone, "You know, we only need the best wizards."

"I think I understand what you mean, Evan," Ginny said, lowering her head with a slight frown.

"Haha!" Seeing her expression, Evan couldn't help but laugh a little, "Don't be silly, Ginny, I was going to ask you to help Hermione; with so many manuscripts, she can't finish them alone."

"But you said you only need the best wizards."

"Our dear Ginny is the best!"

Smiling, Evan said, "Harry is in charge of the Quidditch section, and if you join, there will be many opportunities to meet him."

Ginny blushed and nodded. Evan didn't wait for her to stop blushing before shifting to the topic of Tom Riddle's diary, but unsuccessfully, soon they both arrived at Hagrid's cabin.

When Evan knocked on the door, he heard a muffled bark from a dog and then Hagrid's voice.

"Fang, sit!"

Soon Hagrid opened the door slightly, but all Evan saw was Hagrid's bearded face. In the next second, a gigantic black dog leaped through the door.

Fang knocked Evan down and started licking his face. Ginny screamed in horror behind him.

"Don't worry, Fang, down!" Hagrid approached and pulled the dog away.

Evan got up and wiped the saliva off his face.

Like Hagrid, the dog was not as fierce as it seemed.
