Old Master Ding waved his hands dismissively upon hearing those words, he did not care. In fact, the truth was that he did not want to care. If it was proven that there was something wrong with Yu Mai and it was his family, Ding Nuan Nuan who found the truth, everyone would be thankful to them.

Not to mention, he could make Yu Dong pay them a hefty sum of money as compensation! His Nuan Nuan's face was ruined like this, that woman needed to give them some sort of explanation, right?

The more he thought, the more his eyes turned bright. It was as if he was already seeing a mound of gold in front of him.

"Why don't you go ahead and say that it was Yu Mai who pushed the beehive on her head?" Master Xu could no longer listen to any more nonsense, he turned and snapped at the two mers harshly.

"Let's just say that he called her to meet but you heard Nuan Nuan, did you not? She did not see anyone," Master Xu sensibly spoke. "If she did not see anyone, how can you be so sure that it was Yu Mai who was behind this? If anything you should be questioning why Nuan Nuan would be attacked by him?"

"And that child is so younger than her," Master Pu pointed out as he looked at Ding Nuan Nuan with a complicated expression. "How can he even push her?"

"That's because he is a mountain spirit!" Old Master Ding snapped harshly, he was annoyed by the fact that these two could not see the bigger picture. "He can do evil things to others just with a flick of his finger!"

"Then he only acted evilly in front of Nuan Nuan? Despite knowing that she did not like him and might even hate him?"

Because the four of them were quarrelling, a crowd had long gathered in front of their room. Everyone was peering inside the ward while looking at one another.

They also did not seem to believe that Yu Mai was the one who did such a thing to them or that he was a mountain spirit. Yu Dong and the entire Yu family lived with him and they were fine. So how could he be a mountain spirit?

However, Ding Nuan Nuan was sobbing so hard while looking terrified that they did not have the heart to say anything to her.

On the other side,

Yu Dong who had just arrived with Yu Mai and Wu Junfen: "…"

She turned to look at Wu Junfen and asked, "Did you know this was going to happen?" If not, why would she ask Yu Mai to come along? If Yu Mai was not here then this nonsense spouted by Ding Nuan Nuan would have planted this blame on his head right away.

Wu Junfen smirked. She turned her head and looked at Yu Dong before saying, "It's because I have worked with the dead more than the living, so of course I know how the thinking of that girl will become."

"After all, the souls of the dead are never good advisers. They are just remnants of all the desires, anger and many other things that a human leaves behind after dying— so most of the time they only fill the head of those who can hear with negative emotions."

Yu Dong's eyes flashed. She walked past the crowd which immediately parted to let her walk to the front.

And as soon as Yu Dong came to a stop in front of the room, she sneered harshly, "Who are you calling a mountain spirit? Who do you think you are? How dare you blame my brother!? He was with me all the time when these accidents happened. Just because you say he is a mountain spirit, he had to turn and become one for you to blame, is that it?"

As she spoke she waved her hand and smashed her fist right across the wall. Though Yu Dong didn't put too much strength behind her hit, it was enough to make a crater in the wall.

"Madam please!" When the workers of the medicinal hall saw that Yu Dong was destroying things, they rushed up to her and asked for her to calm down.

Wu Junfen also thought that Yu Dong might just bang open the head of Old Master Ding, thus she said to Yu Dong, "You need to calm down, Dong Dong. You cannot hit someone just because you are angry."

If she was to hit someone here then others would think that she was causing trouble for no reason and the matter of Yu Mai being called a mountain spirit would be left behind!

They first needed to deal with this matter.

Yu Dong rolled her eyes before turning to look at her grandmother, she said to her sweetly, "Don't worry Sister Junfen. I do not hit anyone who is unreasonable, foolish and a liar."

With that she gave Old Master Ding, Gu Mo and Ding Nuan Nuan a good look, the meaning could not have been obvious!

Old Master Ding's face turned black with anger as he glared at Yu Dong, "Are you calling me a fool and a liar? I am so many years older than you! How dare you call me a liar. Is this how you should be talking to someone who is considered your elder!?"

Yu Dong sneered in her heart. This mer came to live in her village and she was kind enough to let him stay even though his family was nothing but troublesome.

And yet he dared to act in front of her as if he was her elder, after calling her brother a mountain spirit and trying to push the blame that should have fallen on the head of his granddaughter onto her brother!? How dare he.

She curled her lips mockingly and said, "Did I? I simply said that I would not hit anyone who is not lying or cheating. Why do you think that I am scolding you?"

This old liar was surely quite self-aware.
