Chapter 1566: Mud sling
"The fields are the backbone of a farmer's family, how could it be sold?" Yu Linyun said to Yu Dong who curled her lips and shrugged. She said to Yu Linyun, "Then there is nothing that I can do—— everyone has to pay for the consequences of their actions."
"Wasn't this what, second aunt told my husbands before they and I were thrown out of the old Yu house?"
"You even refused to give us any meat and vegetables when my husbands went to beg for your help. You told them even if I died or the child in Mi's belly died, it was our own responsibility because we did not work hard."
"You told Mi, that my child was unlucky to have a mother like me. As my child was unlucky then he could only blame me, his mother for being unruly and unkind."
"That even if he came to this world, he would have to suffer and have a bad life because his mother is useless."
"You also sent them back home by telling them that they and I were a family. A family was a unit, so they had no other choice but to suffer along with me, wasn't this what you said to my husbands?"
"How come now that your son has caused trouble—— I have to suffer a loss because of him instead of you when you clearly drew a line between our families the last time my husbands begged for help?" Yu Dong threw the words that Yu Linyun had said to her husbands.
Chen Mi was a mer who knew how to hold grudges.
Thus when Yu Cheng set their fields on fire, he was worried that Yu Linyun would come to their house and beg for help.
Chen Mi did not want Yu Dong to forgive that heartless woman who never helped him or the rest of their family. So, he told Yu Dong everything. Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire
He would rather risk angering Yu Dong than let Yu Linyun have it easy!
What if Yu Linyun acted all pitiful and was forgiven by Yu Dong? That would be really too big of a loss!
How could he, who had held a grudge against Yu Linyun let her have it easy?
That woman had not once helped them when they were poor. She even mocked them and told them that it was their fate to suffer as they were tied and married to someone like Yu Dong.
Forget about helping them, Yu Linyun had cleanly separated their family from hers.
So why should they hold back?
"What?! When did that happen?" Old Madam Yu turned to look at Yu Dong.
She did not hear a word about Yu Dong or her mers coming to ask for help. If she had heard anything like that then she would have definitely helped them.
"You were sick and working in the fields grandmother," Yu Dong answered with a calm voice. "My husbands were worried to trouble you because you were recuperating so they went to look for Old Master Tong and Second Aunt."
"But the three of them returned empty-handed."
"Such a thing happened?"
"Linyun refused to help? But did she not promise her sister that she will take care of her niece?"
"What promise? Yu Hai is dead, it is not like she can crawl out of her grave to punish Yu Linyun for breaking her promise, right?"
"Yeah. Who cares about the dead?"
"But still—— it is too much. She lives in Yu Hai's house and even the fields that she now calls hers were purchased by Yu Hai. Not to mention, Yu Hai treated Yu Linyun really well when she was alive."
"How could she do such a thing?"
"Thats so ungrateful."
"She still wants to suppress Yu Dong by using the title of elder?"
Yu Linyun heard all kinds of contemptuous words being hurled at her and her expression changed red and blue before all the blood drained from her face.
She looked at her mother who was looking at her with disappointment and disapproval. Then turned to look at the rest of the villagers who were looking at her with contempt in their eyes.
Yu Linyun's suddenly felt excruciatingly hot.
She never thought that Yu Dong would pour the dirty water of their family for others to see like that.
Her complexion alternated between green and blue before she screamed, "Yu Dong! You are too much!"
As she spoke she fished a ball of mud from the ground and hurled it at Yu Dong.
"Watch out!"
The villagers all gasped as they saw Yu Linyun throw mud at Yu Dong. Even though she dodged in time, some specks of mud fell on Yu Dong's neck and clothes.
"What are you doing!?" Old Madam Yu was even more disappointed in her daughter.
It was one thing that Yu Linyun did not want to pay any compensation but it was simply too much of her to attack Yu Dong like that.
Yu Linyun sneered as she said, "Mother, you truly are an opportunist. Just because she earns more than that, you are willing to support her and not me!"
"Why don't you ask Yu Dong what she is doing?' Yu Linyun screamed with red-rimmed eyes. "She wants my family to die! Did you not hear what she said just now? Clearly, she is trying to embarrass me and my family by making them her slaves."
"It is simply too much!"
Yu Linyun roared at her mother before turning on her feet and storming away. Behind her, Old Madam Yu was standing with a shocked look on her face.
Opportunist? Had Yu Linyun forgotten that it was she who nearly pushed her into the troubled water when the flood struck the village?
And even if she forgot all about it, how could she forget about the hard work that Old Madam Yu had put into Yu Linyun's care and nurture?
How could she call her an opportunist?
Old Madam Yu was simply heartbroken!
