Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Incubation_1
Eevee was about to hatch.
Dark pupils fixed on the Spirit Egg, Fang Yuan's mood surged along with the light.
"Crack..."
As the light shone over Fang Yuan's entire field of vision, accompanying a distinct sound, he felt a sudden flash before his eyes, and then everything returned to calm.
By now, the Spirit Egg, with its white base and brown spots, had developed crack upon crack resembling a spider web. Following that, the eggshell began to break apart along the spreading fractures.
"Bwoo~"
Just when Fang Yuan's heart almost leapt to his throat, finally, a delicate creature squeezed out of the Spirit Egg, and began to curiously survey its surroundings.
Compared to its pictures, a live Eevee was even more endearing.
Its soft brown fur, the fluffy tail curling its cream-colored tuft of fur, constantly rubbed against the ground, and when it raised its head, Little Eevee had already noticed Fang Yuan. Its brown eyes were bright and lively, very expressive. When Fang Yuan smiled, Little Eevee stretched out its short, slender legs and rubbed them against Fang Yuan with its pink pads.
"Please guide me," Fang Yuan said with a smile, gently picking up Eevee.
Regarding the first being they see as a dependency after hatching was a common trait among many Pokemon, and Little Eevee was no exception.
Being picked up by Fang Yuan, Eevee's rabbit-like long ears swayed gently, and its small black nose sniffed vigorously, as if wanting to remember everything about Fang Yuan.
"Bwoo bwoo~~"
Gradually, Eevee became braver, vigorously rubbing against Fang Yuan again as if finding it very comfortable.
"Eevee, from now on, we'll be the most important partners, okay?"
"Bwoo~"
Eevee looked at Fang Yuan affectionately. Perhaps it still couldn't understand what Fang Yuan was saying, but it instinctively nodded its head, cheerfully responding.
Now, not only did Eevee feel a sense of closeness with Fang Yuan, but Fang Yuan, who had personally guarded the Spirit Egg for days and witnessed the birth of Eevee, had also grown deeply fond of this clingy little guy.
...
It was best to give a new Pokemon a rinse with warm water.
Fang Yuan didn't forget this advice and soon took Eevee to the bathroom to get busy. Fortunately, Eevee's temperament was indeed mild, and Fang Yuan got along with it very comfortably, almost effortlessly.
After he had washed Eevee, it shook its coat and suddenly shivered. It seemed that although the water was warm, after all, having just been born, Eevee couldn't help but feel a bit of chill.
"I almost forgot."
Seeing Eevee's small movement, Fang Yuan immediately slapped his forehead and carried Eevee back to the bedroom, picking up a silk scarf beside the bed.
"Wrap this around your body, and you'll warm up soon."
Fang Yuan explained, then personally wrapped the scarf around Eevee, who was curiously watching him. However, amusingly, because Eevee had just been born and was quite small, the scarf seemed a bit too big for it.
Fang Yuan was instantly captivated.
But what left him rather speechless was that the oversized scarf actually provided perfect warmth, almost serving as a blanket. Meanwhile, Eevee once again comfortably let out a growl.
Fang Yuan continued to be dazed.
"Bwoo?"
Eevee, looking at Fang Yuan in a daze, tilted its head in confusion.
"Ha, it's nothing, I'm just wondering when you will grow up and wear it properly as a scarf," Fang Yuan said, laughing as he stroked Eevee's head.
Because it had just been born, Eevee was extremely curious about everything, so it was very active. Fang Yuan did not restrict its movements and followed it around, introducing each thing one by one.
Lights, mirrors, refrigerators, TVs... These incredibly simple items all kept Eevee entertained for a long time. Seeing Eevee that happy, Fang Yuan also felt quite delighted. Being with such a little guy made him feel younger, even though he was only sixteen...
"Hungry? I've prepared some milk for you."
After playing for a while, Eevee began to show signs of tiredness. This little fellow had just been born, and it was quite remarkable how active it had been for so long. At that moment, Fang Yuan brought out the warmed milk he had prepared, and holding it at some distance, Eevee could smell the fragrance and immediately showed an eager expression.
"Come on, come on, drink slowly..."
He gently placed the container filled with milk on the table and then picked up Eevee, Fang Yuan cautioned.
"Bwoo~~"
Eevee blinked at Fang Yuan's caution and then, unable to wait, jumped onto the table to get closer. However, just as it was about to take a sip, it suddenly looked at Fang Yuan with big eyes and pushed the container, pitifully asking, "Bwoo?"
Seeing Eevee's behavior, Fang Yuan scratched his head, not understanding its meaning at first. After thinking carefully, he guessed, "Do you want me to drink it?"
"Bwoo, Bwoo~" Eevee nodded quickly.
"It's alright, I have plenty more here; this is prepared for you," Fang Yuan's heart almost melted, he stroked Eevee's head again, touched by the little guy's gesture and could not help but laugh.
Hearing what Fang Yuan said, Eevee obediently lowered its head and began to enjoy the delicious premium milk from the Big Milkan.
Glug... Glug...
As it drank, Eevee showed an intoxicated expression: (๑¯∀¯๑)
It was clear that the delicious taste of Big Milkan's milk had instantly captivated the little guy.
A big bowl of milk was the most suitable amount of nutrition for a newborn Eevee, and now it had gulped down the entire bowl in one go.
But after that, an awkward situation arose; having played until it was tired and having eaten its fill, Eevee immediately became drowsy and began to doze off...
Fang Yuan shook his head helplessly, wiped Eevee's mouth, opened up a silk scarf, picked up the sleeping Eevee, laid it on the bed, and then covered it with the silk scarf.
In its sleep, Eevee seemed to be having a nice dream, it turned over, wrapping itself tightly in the silk scarf, and then showed a satisfied smile, continuing its slumber...
...
Fang Yuan swore, he had truly been captivated by Eevee in an instant.
He was now very glad that he had chosen this Little Eevee as his Beginner Elf.
After Eevee had fallen asleep, Fang Yuan watched over it for a long time before he quietly sat down at his desk.
At this time, Fang Yuan should have been seriously studying... but he couldn't shake the image of Eevee from his mind, looking forward to the little guy waking up quickly.
"How pathetic," he muttered to himself, then pulled out a recipe.
Eevee was now in its newborn stage.
Three bowls of Big Milkan's milk a day would be enough, which should last about three days.
After that, some solid complementary food could be introduced, and a week later, the menu needed to be updated based on this.
Fang Yuan had prepared ingredients including vegetables and fruits, porridge varieties, and even some meats...
These food items, theoretically, should allow Eevee to smoothly transition through its newborn stage and lay a solid foundation. Fang Yuan had invested a lot in preparing these, almost emptying his piggy bank...
"Taking care of myself isn't even this fussy, and I still have to cook by myself..." Fang Yuan complained halfheartedly.
