Chapter 30: Chapter 30 First Battle_1
Facing Little Kabigon, who had curled into a ball, Fang Yuan issued a simple command.
"Eevee, approach it carefully, then use Sand Splash!"
Eevee was very smart, and the day-to-day interactions with Fang Yuan allowed it to understand the deeper meanings behind most of Fang Yuan's commands.
Upon receiving the command, Eevee lightly lifted its forelimbs and set them down gently on the ground, advancing step by step towards Little Kabigon, who had transformed into a round ball.
Watching Eevee stroll over like a pampered pet of a noblewoman, Liu Le's face changed color, becoming somewhat angry.
What he didn't know was that Eevee, at its most relaxed, also had the most sensitive Dangerous Premonition ability.
Eevee moved very slowly, and each step it took exerted tremendous pressure on Liu Le's heart, yet he couldn't let Little Kabigon take the initiative to strike because speed was not Little Kabigon's strength.
So he waited, waiting for Eevee to draw near Little Kabigon.
After a while, Eevee finally reached a distance that Liu Le deemed appropriate.
"Little Kabigon, Lick!"
Fang Yuan was taken aback for a moment because Lick was a Ghost-type move, and it would be nearly ineffective against the General Series Eevee...
As long as this Liu Le wasn't being foolish, there must be some trick involved.
Fang Yuan had been prepared, but he was still surprised by Little Kabigon's change.
Little Kabigon, transformed into a ball, somehow gained momentum, its body glowing white as it rolled towards Eevee at a high speed, similar to a Roll Technique, but not quite the same.
"By curling up to disguise as a ball to hide its mouth, then using the force of the Lick move to curl the ground to give itself acceleration, it made its Collision move resemble rolling..."
"I say, Old Liu, your child is clearly a genius."
Shan Mi said unexpectedly.
Though Liu Dad didn't say much, he was quite satisfied with Liu Le's little bout of cleverness, of course, it would have been better if Liu Le's attitude were more serious.
But what surprised Shan Mi even more came afterward.
Facing this sudden attack, Eevee didn't change its expression and nimbly jumped aside, as if Little Kabigon's increased speed was still inconsequential in its eyes.
"This Eevee's reaction speed is good, its body is very flexible, and it can evade even in such a crisis, it must have undergone targeted training," Shan Mi remarked again.
Little Kabigon's attack didn't stop; Liu Le, knowing its slow speed, had conceived this mode of attack.
By curling up, Little Kabigon coiled into a ball. As a ball's mass distribution is even and symmetrical, its centre of gravity does not change while rolling on a flat surface, so it cannot expend energy. Therefore, if other external forces are negligible, once a ball starts rolling, it will keep rolling.
Although Little Kabigon was affected by friction during the attack, it had the Lick move to propel and steer itself, maintaining a stable moving speed with no problem at all.
If it were someone else... they might have been caught by the trick.
Now, Fang Yuan was certain, the opponent's nineteen consecutive victories were not without merit, as Little Kabigon had just managed to overcome its disadvantage of being slow.
Too bad...
It met with Eevee.
It met Eevee, who was already skilled at using Quick Attack, able to navigate effortlessly through the dense and complex forest.
Dodging Little Kabigon's rolling Tackle time after time with agility, Eevee displayed a sly smile, as if it was mocking Little Kabigon.
"Keep using Sand Splash," Fang Yuan immediately issued the command.
Although the speed disadvantage was mitigated, Little Kabigon revealed another flaw.
After rounding up, Little Kabigon could hardly see the direction clearly; its attacks were driven by blind ferocity. As long as Eevee didn't clash head-on, it would be difficult for Little Kabigon to inflict any harm.
"Bwoo!"
Upon hearing the command, Eevee patted the ground, lifting heaps of dust into the air. While moving, it continued to stir up dust, making the entire arena's atmosphere murky. Now, Little Kabigon found it even harder to pinpoint Eevee's exact location.
"Kab! Kab!!"
After a while, Little Kabigon let out an uncomfortable cry, then quickly stood up and looked around in a panic.
It covered its mouth and nose, searching for a trace of Eevee, but Eevee's skin color was very similar to the dust, leaving Little Kabigon to attack blindly.
"Calm down, Little Kabigon. Eevee is right in front of you. Use a Collision move and take a gamble," Liu Le said.
Upon hearing the Trainer's command, Little Kabigon's anxiety subsided. Its fingers waved rhythmically, and the next moment a white glow enveloped Little Kabigon's fist. The Collision move was highly unpredictable; swinging the fingers could stimulate the brain to unleash any kind of move, and this time Little Kabigon ended up releasing the Sonic Fist.
"What move is this..." Liu Le was taken aback.
The Sonic Fist was very effective, a Fighting Type move that greatly increased the speed of Little Kabigon's punches, far more daunting for Eevee than Tackle, matching the speed of Quick Attack. Although Liu Le was puzzled, he noticed that Little Kabigon's punching speed had significantly increased.
After a brief joy, Liu Le ordered Little Kabigon to attack, but he failed to realize that Little Kabigon's body had become quite uncoordinated. The speed from the Sonic Fist was more of a disadvantage than a benefit for Little Kabigon; it was a speed that Little Kabigon could not control. This played right into Fang Yuan's hands.
"Sonic Fist... lucky, but still useless, Eevee, take the initiative with Quick Attack."
"Bwoo!"
Eevee smiled triumphantly. The moment Little Kabigon emerged from the dust cloud, Eevee pounced to its side, exerting all its strength for the Quick Attack.
As the Sonic Fist came swinging, Eevee easily dodged. Little Kabigon instinctively tried to change the punch's direction, but the awkwardness of its body caused it to miss the perfect attack timing. By then, Eevee had already shifted its position, hopping behind it without hesitation. Once more, Eevee cleverly disrupted Little Kabigon's judgment by repeatedly changing direction with stomps, aiming for Little Kabigon's most vulnerable spot, the back of its head.
Little Kabigon swung the Sonic Fist wildly, out of breath and agitated, but it couldn't touch Eevee, which was very frustrating.
Until Eevee delivered a fatal blow.
With a "bang," the back of Little Kabigon's head suffered a heavy blow, and its body wobbled dizzily, sitting down on the ground within a few seconds.
Eevee also landed, but did not relax its attack stance.
"What's going on?" Liu Le's eyes widened, not understanding why Little Kabigon's body had become even more sluggish than before.
"It's the Sand Splash. After Eevee used Sand Splash continuously, not only did it fill the air with dust, it also covered the ground with a layer of sand. As Little Kabigon rolled around, sand accumulated in its long body hair, which could otherwise hide food. That's the main reason for its discomfort and sluggishness," Fang Yuan explained.
The battle was over...
The Referee looked at Little Kabigon's condition and declared the result: "Little Kabigon is unable to continue the battle, so the winner is Fang Yuan."
...
"It looks like the outcome is decided. This Fang Yuan really caught me by surprise. Aside from its physical strength, this Eevee has been trained to a level even higher than Little Kabigon in all basic aspects, especially in terms of speed, far surpassing Little Kabigon. What surprised me the most is that this lad didn't rely solely on this advantage but chose to continue expanding it, a very prudent approach," Shan Mi said from the spectator stands.
"What do you mean?" Liu Dad turned to Shan Mi.
"I originally thought Sand Splash was just to disrupt Little Kabigon's vision, but I didn't expect him to use this method to let sand accumulate in Little Kabigon's fur... For Little Kabigon, having sand fill its body hair is definitely not comfortable; it stimulates its fat and affects its senses, causing it to lose battle rhythm."
"Okay, let's head down."
