Chapter 16: Chapter 16 Cultivation Notes_1
In the end, Fang Yuan and Eevee had confirmed their participation in the Little Phoenix King Cup.
And their ambition was massive.
Though they were not regarded with much optimism.
Afterward, this trip to Magic City continued for two more days, totaling four days of travel.
The first day... was spent in normal leisure.
On the second day, Fang Yuan and Eevee were alone, and Eevee learned the Sand Splash Technique.
In the last two days, they didn't come across anything particularly new, mostly getting to know the city of Magic City and passing the time relatively uneventfully.
During this period, Fang Yuan and Eevee also went to observe the nearest dojo from the outside, but that was as far as they could go, as outsiders were not allowed inside the important facilities.
However, it must be said that Magic City's atmosphere was much better than Pingcheng's, with a clearly more flourishing Trainer culture.
Clearly, becoming the champion of the Little Phoenix King Cup was not going to be easy...
"We're heading home."
"Bwoo~"
On the afternoon of the fourth day, the five of them boarded the maglev train back to Pingcheng, chatting and laughing along the way. Fang Yuan was repeatedly reminded to keep the psychology club going.
Of course, Fang Yuan wouldn't refuse, since after returning to Pingcheng, he still had to continue his studies, and club activities... were one of the very legitimate reasons to skip non-exam subjects, something he had done quite a bit in the past.
"Fang Yuan, you and Eevee have got to train hard after we get back,"
"If you make it into the top 16, we'll be able to see you on the live broadcast," Du Ai joked.
"Right, right, if you have any questions during training, remember to ask us, we've already told you about the training programs at school," the senior girl said.
Everyone laughed together, not overly optimistic about Fang Yuan's prospects, thinking he could do well only if... Eevee managed to evolve in the next month or so.
This was the only possibility they had discussed.
No matter what, Eevee was still perceived as unsuitable for battle, especially one that had just entered its growth phase.
"Sure thing... just wait to see my splendor; I'll definitely remind you all," Fang Yuan said helplessly.
No need to say anything else, put the brags out there first and decide on the specifics depending on the situation.
The group had a pretty good relationship, able to joke around with each other, but such relationships were common in high school. Once they each went off to different cities for university, they would probably gradually lose touch.
Pingcheng had arrived, and it was time to part ways. Little Eevee was perched on Fang Yuan's shoulder as he watched the others leave with him.
Fang Yuan exhaled deeply; he did not linger outside, heading straight home. Even though he had only been away for four days, he still found home more comfortable, and he couldn't even bear to think about how to get by in college.
"But thinking about having Little Eevee with me makes it feel a lot better."
Fang Yuan sighed, regardless of how the environment around him changed, at least Eevee was always by his side.
He and Eevee arrived home quickly. The house was still empty, but Fang Yuan was used to it. After changing his clothes, he rushed straight to the bedroom.
As for Little Eevee... Fang Yuan left it in the living room to watch TV.
Fang Yuan was about to undertake something significant now, a decision that would determine how far he could get in the Little Phoenix King Cup.
In the last two days, Fang Yuan summarized a special training program, combining his own understanding, the knowledge system from games and animation, as well as some of the realities, into a cultivation template.
Training without a clear purpose is inefficient, a principle that everyone should know, and Fang Yuan was of course well aware of it.
He had typed the cultivation plans into his phone, piece by piece, and now what he had to do was use the computer and handwritten methods to detail them out.
"If the goal is the Little Phoenix King Cup, then the kinds of Pokemon that Eevee and I will face next could be varied, possibly Rock Type, possibly Ghost Type, Psychic Type; these attributes are all very tricky. With Eevee's small stature, if it wants to defeat those tricky Pokemon, it must undergo comprehensive training..."
Fang Yuan believed...
The combat strength of a Pokemon depended on the level of its basic qualities and the degree to which it had mastered its moves.
This was the result of Fang Yuan's careful consideration.
The so-called basic qualities include Physical Strength, body strength, speed, Explosive Power, Coordination Ability, and some Pokemon also focus on training spiritual power.
Physical Strength affects a Pokemon's sustained fighting capability.
Body strength affects a Pokemon's resistance to attacks, as well as its own attack power. For example, for Collision moves, the level of body strength has a significant impact on the power of the Tackle. Besides that, some Pokemon's body parts can store energy, but let's not dwell on this for now.
As for speed, it is a very broad concept, encompassing the Pokemon's reaction speed, movement speed, the speed of condensing energy—all these are aspects of speed.
Explosive Power is also important considering the different Pokemon and various methods of cultivation, while Coordination Ability, Fang Yuan believes, is indispensable as well.
In the animation, there's a profession known as Coordinating Trainer, which doesn't exist in this world. This profession, different from traditional trainers, focuses on enhancing the appearance and mental state of Pokemon, as well as practicing graceful battles. This leads to the top few Coordinating Trainers being able to use the characteristics of their Pokemon and a large number of moves flexibly and freely in combination with each other. Or to put it more directly, Coordination Ability can also be termed as control power.
Control over body movement, control over energy, control over the form of moves...
This is closely related to the other basic qualities mentioned earlier. Strong bodily control might bring about greater Explosive Power, strong energy control power enables quicker condensation of moves!
"If basic qualities are as their name implies, the foundation, the very base, then a Pokemon's Moves are the one-way or even multi-directional elevation of those basic qualities, and more importantly, they are fundamental in deciding victory or defeat."
This principle is also very simple; Harden can strengthen a Pokemon's body strength, bringing about powerful Defensive Power, High-speed movement can enhance a Pokemon's movement speed, bringing about strong mobility.
As for why Moves determine the outcome, it's because they are the main means of attack for Pokemon!
Without attacking, you can never hope to win, unless your opponent collapses from exhaustion.
The magical abilities Pokemon possess are usually applications of energy, and Moves are the manifestations of various types of energy.
Blizzard... Thunder... Fire Vortex... Harden...
Fang Yuan highlighted in his notebook that every aspect of basic quality can't be neglected, but the Moves can be trained selectively since Pokemon have limited energy.
Grasping a move is hard.
Mastering a move is even harder.
Developing a move to its limit is the hardest of all.
Eevee had just been born; currently, all aspects of its basic qualities are unsatisfactory. To reach an average level, it still needs to continue absorbing nutrients and gradually grow. In time, some of its basic qualities will naturally improve, and those that remain unsatisfactory can be easily trained a little more.
But now, with little time remaining, Fang Yuan could only resort to taking some shortcuts.
"That place can train all basic qualities at the same time and could also help Eevee comprehend new Moves. The question is whether it is still possible to enter it now..."
"If possible, it would save a great deal of time."
Fang Yuan placed significant emphasis on that special training program, and he planned to discuss it with his parents when they returned...
