Chapter 634: Obsidian Hoops
As Adam made his way around the vault, he realized that there were only treasures of wealth in this place. He was hoping that there would be some magical artifacts or spellbooks in here, but he couldn't find any.
For as far as his eyes could see, there were only piles of gold and silver, loose gemstones of every imaginable color—rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds—alongside ornate necklaces, crowns, rings, and bracelets.
There were even golden goblets, plates, ceremonial weapons, and statues of mythical creatures crafted from precious metals.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a loud crash coming from nearby. He turned his head in that direction and saw that Valerian had dived into a large pile of gold coins. He had transformed into a winged panther.
Seeing this Adam couldn't help but chuckle lightly. He then thought of something and immediately sent Valerian a mental transmission.
'Val, do not transform into your true form!'
The young dragon roared in acknowledgment as he flapped his wings and dove into another large pile of gold.
This vault was deep beneath Saratoga Castle, as such it could still be considered part of the castle. So Adam wasn't sure if the current Headmaster was able to see what was going on inside the vault. He didn't wish to take any risks, so he informed Valerian beforehand.
"I wonder if the current Headmaster will be tempted by all the treasures here," he muttered under himself. "Surely not… I hope..."
Suddenly, the youth's gaze landed on a small wooden box nearby. In this place that was filled with precious and shiny objects, the appearance of an unassuming wooden box was highly conspicuous.
He frowned, thinking to himself, What's that?
It was a certainty that any items found within this vault would be highly valuable. So when Adam saw this plain-looking wooden box, his interest was instantly piqued.
He walked to the nearest pile of gold, climbed it, and then grabbed the box that was kept right on top. He sat down on the pile and carefully examined the wooden box.
It was no bigger than the size of his palm. Adam injected his mana into it and was slightly taken aback. "It's just normal… wood?"
Unable to hold back his curiosity any longer, he opened the lid of the box. Inside, placed upon a white silk cloth were a set of obsidian hoop earrings. All ten of them were breathtaking examples of masterful craftsmanship.
Adam picked one up and scrutinized it with narrowed eyes. The hoop was carved with polished black obsidian, its surface smooth and matte. If not for the faint runes carved on the surface, he would have thought this to be random earrings.
"As I thought, nothing in this vault is ordinary," the youth softly muttered as he studied the runes.
The earring was a perfect circle. It was slightly tapered, wider at the base, and thinner near the top where it clasped. There were no gemstones or anything embedded in it, however. It was plain and simple.
Adam injected mana into it and nodded to himself, "I see. A space-type storage artifact. But… it's only 10 cubic meters in size."
He couldn't help but frown a little, feeling slightly disappointed. After all, the red star earring that he was currently using had a storage space of 25 cubic meters.
Adam then picked up another earring and observed it as well. It was the same as the first one, but when he held the two together, something magical happened.
"Wait a minute!" The youth's pupils dilated. "The dimensional space of both the earrings somehow merged… and now the storage area has doubled!"
He couldn't help but look at the remaining earrings inside the wooden box. "Could it be…"
Adam placed all the earrings in his palms and injected mana into them, and as expected, he could sense the dimensional space inside all the earrings had merged and the resulting storage space was a whooping 100 cubic meters!
"Haha… just what sort of magic is this?" The youth couldn't help but gulp nervously.
He knew the dimensional spaces inside storage artifacts to be highly volatile. For example, if he put a storage ring inside another storage ring, it would fail. Moreover, the storage spaces in both rings would instantly disintegrate.
This was the first time Adam saw the dimensional space between two storage artifacts seamlessly merge together.
"Amazing!" Adam marveled, intently gazing at the runes carved on the earrings. "If I can study the runes and symbols inscribed on it, I can deepen my knowledge of summoning magic."
However, it was far too difficult for him to study the runes on the earrings at the moment. His knowledge about rune magic wasn't that deep yet.
"But having a 100 cubic meter portable space sure is convenient," he grinned.
He took off the red star earring and emptied its contents. It was filled with his clothes, barrels of wine, all kinds of potions and ointments, and of course, some money.
Then, he picked up the black hoop earring and began piercing his ear. "Ugh!" He groaned. "This is going to sting a little."
After having his physical body strengthened on several occasions, most recently inside that vat in the Raven Inheritance, it had grown immensely robust.
Thus, piercing his ear was going to take Adam a little while. Not to mention, there were ten earrings in total!
The sounds of light groans echoed inside the vault in small intervals, along with the excited roars of Valerian. After about thirty minutes, Adam had finally finished donning all ten earrings—five on each year. Needless to say, his ears were slightly bloody and swollen by now.
He then grabbed a mirror from the pile of items he had taken out from his red star earring and looked at his reflection.

"Hmm, not bad!" Adam grinned. The black hoop earrings around his ears appeared quite refined to him.
He then stoked his thick beard and mumbled, "Now, I just need to get rid of this beard. Hmm, and perhaps get a haircut as well. I'm wondering if I should keep my hair long this time…"
Adam got to his feet and with a wave of his hand put away the contents of the red-star earring he had taken out earlier. Then, with another wave of his hand, he enveloped a large pile of gold coins in front of him and stored it away inside his new earrings.
He continued to store away one treasure pile after another until half the storage space was occupied. He nodded in satisfaction. "Good, I can use the rest of the space for other miscellaneous items."
The youth then looked in the distance and loudly called out, "Val, time to go!"
