Great Wizard Transcending with Mythology

chapter 3

Episode 4

“……”

Zylo casually rolled the glass containing fine wine in his hand as he waited for a moment.

And how much time had passed?

Just as the light from the window was obscured by something, Zylo slowly lifted his head.

“You’re here?”

“How’s the situation?”

A giant man suddenly appeared where no one was before.

As if Zylo didn’t matter at all, the giant man immediately brought up the matter at hand.

“Is this still how I’m treated?”

Zylo glanced at the giant man, seeming somewhat uncomfortable, before speaking up.

“The situation at the moment is not favorable. The Duke suddenly seemed to change his mind and abnormly.”

“Not favorable? Weren’t you supposed to be able to control the Duke?”

The giant man retorted in a cold voice, but Zylo, instead of backing down, spoke up arrogantly.

“It’s only for the moment.”

“The moment?”

“Yes. You may not know, but that brat is extremely impulsive. At the slightest displeasure, he changes his attitude like a ghost.”

Zylo said with a slight frown.

“Moreover, you still treat me like a servant. I am now the commander of the Grave’s magical battalion. You should respect me a little.”

“……”

The giant man quietly stared at Zylo.

Flinch.

Zylo shivered involuntarily as memories of the past came flooding back.

But soon he straightened his shoulders again.

Zylo was confident.

Back when he sought their cooperation in the past, he was pitiful beyond measure.

But what about now!

“I am the commander of the Grave noble family’s magical battalion!”

Being the commander of the noble family’s magical battalion was tantamount to being recognized as a prominent magician even within the empire.

Moreover, if things went according to plan, he could even seize control of one of the empire’s great noble families.

But why should he bow down to mere followers of heretics?

With such thoughts, he was about to step forward confidently.

“Cough?!”

In an instant, Zylo clutched his chest and collapsed.

Clang!

The glass smashed to the ground into pieces, staining the carpet red where it lay.

“Magician, it seems your judgment is failing.”

The giant man said, staring coldly at Zylo.

“Don’t forget, we hold your lifeline. Remember that our mark is engraved on the very heart you’re clutching.”

“Cough, ugh….”

Agony, fear of death.

They rushed in an instant, wiping away all the confidence that had filled him moments ago.

He looked up at the giant man with trembling eyes.

The Chaotic Church.

Not yet revealed to the world, but a group of unknown identity people with terrifying power.

And that   was one of the executioners the church proud  of.

When it came to the church’s affairs, the executioners were ruthless killing machines who would stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

“I, I am an important figure in your plans….”

“No, no.”

The executioner said, locking eyes with Zylo.

“You’re just a dog. A dog  that helps us achieve our goals.”

“….!”

Clutching his chest, Zylo looked at the executioner, trembling.

He didn’t know much about the Chaotic Church. It was only natural since he hadn’t yet earned the right.

He had received the church’s necklace, but that was it.

The relationship between the Chaotic Church and Zylo was strictly hierarchical.

The reason Zylo forcefully received the church’s mark was because he wanted to change that hierarchy.

After receiving that mark, his magical abilities had grown at an absurd rate.

He, who had thought reaching the fifth rank in his lifetime was the limit, had reached the seventh rank.

By then, he had expectations.

Surely this time, he would earn the church’s trust and gain a high position.

“Or so I thought.”

He had deluded himself.

The power of the Chaotic Church was far more terrifying than he had imagined.

No matter how high-ranking a magician of the noble family he was, as long as he was in leashed, he was no different from a slave in front of an executioner.

Once again, fear and anxiety filled his heart.

As long as he couldn’t fully control the Grave Duke, this relationship would never change.

“Remember, magician.”

The executioner stared straight at Zylo.

“Until the contract is completely over, your leash is in our hands.”

“Y-yes, I’ll remember.”

Zylo replied with difficulty.

“D-don’t worry. I-I really… I really can handle that brat….”

“We don’t tolerate failure.”

With that, his momentum diminished even further.

Zylo barely nodded. He had no doubts about his plan.

The Kyle Grave he had seen so far was far inferior as a noble family’s head.

This time too.

Although he seemed to suddenly favor Lepentir , it wouldn’t last long anyway.

If he could manipulate that brat properly as before, it wouldn’t be difficult to make him rampage again.

“Don’t worry… I know very well.”

“Two days.”

With that, the executioner vanished before Zylo’s eyes without a trace.

Left alone, Zylo took a long time to catch his breath before finally getting up.

“Two days…”

It was too tight a time frame.

He couldn’t deal with Duke Grave right away.

It was still a bit early, but if he sacrificed a little more this time, he could harvest enough.

“….Alright, then.”

Zylo steadied his trembling body and hastened his steps.

“After all, he’s just an ignorant brat who doesn’t know how to manage his own territory.”

Zylo was convinced.

* * *

“…Well, you can think that way.”

I chuckled and continued walking.

It had been a long time, but this was my territory after all.

“I guess so.”

I chuckled and took a step forward.

It’s been a long time, but this is my territory by name.

I can’t forget the place where I, under the leadership of zylo, carried out some minor exploits.

“Your Highness, this is…”

“I told you. I came here to uncover the corruption of Silo’s exploits.”

“Corruption of the exploits… Is it such a serious matter that Your Highness must intervene personally?”

asked with a stern expression.

If an  duke had to personally intervene, it must have been an extraordinary matter.

His words were right.

Although it may not look like much on the surface, disasters born here could ultimately destroy the entire family in the future.

The altar he prepared eventually caused a terrible catastrophe.

The present reality of ‘the 6th High Priest, Kaedium’.

A priest with the title of the one who execution.

He was a loyal torturer of Jormungand, a being with an extremely cruel nature.

A fully faithfull priest was nothing short of a walking disaster.

Even the master who had seen the ultimate power of the sword, and the high-ranking wizards who had reached the 8th rank, could not stand against a complete priest.

So when such a monster was suddenly summoned in the middle of the territory, the result was obvious.

‘Destruction, hell.’

The family perished, and the territory fell into hell under Kaedium’s rule.

Under Kaedium’s rukes, countless residents of the territory were slaughtered while still alive and turned into fallen ones.

… It’s truly a sight I never want to remember again.

I opened my mouth as I recalled that time.

“Otherwise, there would be no reason for me to act, right?”

“Indeed… You are right.”

Lepentir nodded hesitantly.

He may not fully understand the situation, but it doesn’t matter. He will naturally find out soon.

The orphanage we arrived at was located in a remote field.

There was a fence around the building, and cute flowers were planted around the fence.

“Here it is.”

“Yes, Shale Orphanage. It was built during my father’s time and was a project carried out under the leadership of Silo’s exploits.”

“Yes, it is known as one of the few good deeds the commander of the magic corps has done. I also judged that he did well in that matter.”

“Yes, that’s how it looked on the surface.”

I chuckled and continued to walk.

Before my regression, I thought the same way.

He advocated for the establishment of a large orphanage to stabilize the public order within the territory and maintain public sentiment as a pretext.

It was a plausible reason, and Silo himself said he would contribute his own funds, so the project progressed quickly.

Looking back now, I should have noticed something suspicious at that time…

“But it’s not like that.”

“It’s not… Your Highness, what do you mean by that…?”

“Isn’t it strange, Lepentir? We’re this close, but we can’t hear the voices of the children at all.”

“….!”

“On the other hand, the building is unusually neat. It seems like it’s just for show.”

Lepentir, feeling something strange about my words, instinctively reached for his sword at his waist.

I said to him, “From now on, the orders I give you may be of a kind that you may not understand or tolerate.”

“….!”

Lepentir’s hand on the hilt of his sword trembled slightly at my words.

“Yet, can you follow?”

He hesitated for a moment, but soon after, he gathered his emotions and nodded firmly.

“I will follow.”

“Even though I haven’t shown you a trustworthy  so far?”

“I believe in Your Highness now.”

Lepentir said firmly.

“That alone is enough.”

“That’s right.”

Indeed, Lepentir the knight has always been like this.

He was the same before my regression.

Paradoxically, Lepentir became a hero to me from the moment I was abandoned.

A hero who stands with the weak and protects the people.

– Your Highness, please stand up.

Even when abandoned by his master, he did not give up.

If Lepentir decides to do something, I have no reason to hesitate.

“Knight Lepentir Ivan. From now on, I decree as the lord of the territory and your master, Grave.”

“I accept.”

“From now on, everything you see in this orphanage is an enemy.”

“….!”

Lepentir’s shoulders twitched.

I didn’t bother to say more and continued to walk towards the orphanage.

“Ah, are you a guest?”

A nun from the orphanage approached us with a bright smile.

Since I changed my appearance appropriately, she didn’t notice that I was a duke.

“Delvier is with you! Our sanctuary is for guests….”

“What Delvier.”

There’s no point in listening further, so I immediately fired the magic spear I had loaded.

Thunk!

“Why, why…?”

“Why indeed.”

I chuckled.

There is no other nun who looks so kind. She gathers abandoned orphans and guides them to the right path, appearing to be a compassionate nun.

But is that really the case?

“The disgusting heretic is wearing a mask.”

With those words, I exploded the magic spear I had thrust into her.

.”

A third-rank explosive magic.

Crackle!

With a thunderous sound as if lightning struck, the nun’s body was enveloped in blue electricity.

Then came the transformation.

“Aaaah!”

As the nun’s body, now burned, or rather, the follower of the Chaos Church, began to transform, spewing an indescribably vile and horrible mucus, its tongue stretched out long.

“Ho, how…?!”

The nun, or rather, the Chaos Church disciple, who was burned by electricity, stared at me with eyes of disbelief.

“Just know.”

Even though I am a regressee.

“Save… me…”

“Nonsense.”

There’s no point in listening more.

I increased the output of the magic spear, and the attempt could not withstand it and turned to ash.

“Knight Lepentir.”

“Yes, yes… Your Highness!”

Lepentir responded to my words with a still bewildered expression.

He still doesn’t fully accept the fact that the orphanage is a stronghold of heretics.

I said to him, “There are no ‘humans’ in this orphanage.”

“….!”

“There used to be, but not anymore.”

At this point, Lepentir should have understood what I meant.

“I understand.”

Lepentir did not ask unnecessary questions. How I knew this information, or how I revealed the identity of Jormungand’s disciples.

Instead, he moved.

With his sword in hand, he now ran ahead towards the orphanage.

“Who are you!”

“Kn-knight…?! Why is a knight here…?!”

Voices of confusion rang out from the orphanage.

“Ah, aaaaah!”

“My, my arm…!”

Followed by screams.

‘What if I could have regressed a little faster? What if I could have gone back before the children of this orphanage were sacrificed?’

If I could have gone back to before the children of this orphanage were sacrificed, I could have prevented many things.

But it

‘s meaningless.

It’s already in the past, and just the fact that I’ve regressed gives me an opportunity that cannot be compared.

So I have to do my best in the current situation.

With the screams of the disciples as background noise, I walked down the corridor of the building.

The corridor was already full of the bodies of the disciples that Lepentir had killed.

Stepping on the blood, I opened the door to the room on the fourth floor of the corridor and entered.

“As expected.”

A familiar landscape painting on one side of the wall of the room.

It’s a painting that the Chaos Church uses as a secret escape route mark.

There’s always one snake drawn on their landscape paintings.

Anyway, judging by the traces, it wasn’t long ago.

Recalling my memory and manipulating the landscape painting, the secret passage was revealed.

He must have been planning to escape through this warehouse.

When I arrived at the warehouse, I saw someone running frantically towards the exit.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

Thud!

I chuckled and forcibly sealed the door of the exit with mana.

“Who are you!”

Suddenly, when the exit was blocked, the person in charge looked around fearfully.

Disguised as a compassionate priest, the sight of this scum is disgusting.

I slowly revealed my appearance to him.

“Who are you.”

Time to die.
