C0 - Prologue
Episode 0: Prologue
*Cough
As I spat out heavy lump of blood, a fishy scent came out.
Through my blurred vision, I could see a giant serpent with triangular pupils staring at me.
The world devourer, Jormungandr.
“So this is how it ends. Kyle Grave, a mere human.”
“Urgh…!”
I couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh. Surely, my magic should have pierced through his skull.
The essence of my magic, the “Myth Magic,” materializes myths from history itself.
Known as the “Myth Mage,” I, Kyle Grave, had constantly opposed Jormungandr, relying solely on my unique magic.
Yet, here he stood, unscathed by my myth magic.
“…Damn it.”
I looked around slowly.
The corpses of countless comrades from around worlds lay scattered around me.
Even the bodies of my two longest-standing companions were among them.
Namgoong Moo-woon, the Sword Star, and Ji soo-won, the Engineer.
The two I met in my journey across worlds to stop Jormungandr, who devoured many worlds.
…They were great guys.
It was unbelievable to see them as corpses.
I had done my best. I had thought I had succeeded.
Until I saw him rise again after being hit by my myth magic.
“Give up. I have attained immortality.”
“Ha… Have you already reached that point?”
“Yes, no matter how much you struggle, you can never kill me.”
I glared at him.
Never kill him?
Did that mean all our efforts; mine and my companions’ were meaningless?
Jormungandr seemed to mock my struggles.
“It was quite amusing, your ‘myth magic.’ I never thought a mere human would reach such a level with the power of a mere bug. Moreover…”
Jormungandr’s gaze turned towards my head.
“I never thought you would even try to kill me once. Impressive. You may even consider it an honor.”
“Shut up.”
I shook my head, continuing the conversation with him.
His followers from the Chaos church were still present.
Priests moving as if they were his limbs.
And countless monsters obey him.
It was almost impossible for me alone to defeat them all.
As I reached this conclusion, a deep sigh escaped me.
“…Is this the only way now?”
I drew a dagger the size of my palm from my pocket.
A weapon given to me by my companion from another world, Ji- won ji, called the Dagger of Time.
“He said the chance was 0.7%.”
That’s what he said before he died, entrusting it to me.
He believed that even with that slim chance, I could rewind time with this dagger.
Then, Jormungandr spoke.
“You can no longer afford to hesitate. Unlike other bugs, your existence must not be taken lightly.”
With those words, Jormungandr commanded his followers from the Chaos church.
The priests and monsters rushed towards me.
“This is the end, Great Mage!”
“Your myth ends here!”
I calmly prepared my myth magic, facing the priests and monsters rushing towards me.
“
Tyr, the Norse god.
His myth reproduced in magic.
My wounds healed, and my strength began to rise.
As soon as I confirmed this, I surged forward towards Jormungandr, kicking the ground.
“I can’t die like this.”
The dagger still lacked power. If so, there was only one way to obtain that power.
“Kraaah!”
“How can you muster such strength with an exhausted body…!”
I tore through the countless monsters blocking my path and moved forward.
Except for Jormungandr, no priest or monster could stand against me.
Jormungandr must have realized that.
He simply enjoyed watching me struggle like this.
As I reached him, Jormungandr’s expression became cuious
“Well done, Kyle Grave. You truly do not disappoint my expectations.”
He then opened his mouth wide.
“I must avoid it!”
But the beam that shot from his mouth pierced through my defense and took off my left arm.
“Gah…!”
Pain.
But this level of pain was within my expectations.
While enduring the pain, I prepared the next spell.
A fatal blow in the form of the ancient giant Hlungrnir’s myth.
It was a spell that could pierce through Jormungandr’s head.
The spell reached Jormungandr’s face.
Crack!
“You’re doing something useless…!”
Whether it was my defiance that irritated him, Jormungandr shouted in anger.
And as if his immortality was true, Jormungandr’s wounds began to heal rapidly.
“It’s meaningless! No matter how much you struggle, you cannot kill me beacuse I have attained the immortality!”
“I know.”
It’s not that I don’t know. From the beginning, what I aimed for was not to kill Jormungandr.
As I reached Jormungandr’s nose, I took out the ‘Dagger of Time’ from my bosom and thrust it into his wound.
Ziing!
The moment the dagger entered Jormungandr’s wound, it began to emit light.
Perhaps Jormungandr also felt something.
“This, this can’t be…!”
With astonishment, Jormungandr shouted urgently.
“Die! So that you cannot use that dagger…!”
“It’s too late.”
I had already prepared for this.
The dagger had been fully charged through Jormungandr’s power.
Now, all that remained was a gamble.
A battle of oods.
Without a moment of hesitation, I plunged the dagger into my heart.
Pwoosh!
“Urgh, ugh…!”
The pain was overwhelming, as if this was death.
But ironically, at that moment, memories of the past flashed through my mind.
My father, who passed away suddenly at a young age.
As a result, I, at a young age, inherited the family without being prepared.
And the minions who had manipulated me, turning me into a puppet and shaking the family as they pleased.
…It was the worst childhood.
I sharpened my resolve, recalling the mistakes of the past that I would never make now.
“If I go back…”
I would definitely eradicate the Chaos church and Jormungandr without leaving a single root.
“It’s a death sentence!”
Ignoring Jormungandr’s visibly lost composure, I closed my eyes.
And…
Thud.
That’s how my consciousness was severed.
