Grant Marshall, the world-changing ninja

Chapter 7: Sealing the Basics

Sitting cross-legged in the quietest corner of the Karama Clan library, I carefully wrote down my thoughts in English, ensuring my knowledge stayed private. The parchment before me was filled with symbols foreign to this world. It was the only way to ensure that no one would steal my ideas or discoveries, not even by accident. But today, my focus was different.

Seals.

The intricate art of fūinjutsu, the ability to manipulate chakra into symbols and scripts that could control everything from storage to defense, had been fascinating me for days. The library was stocked with scrolls on sealing techniques, ranging from rudimentary chakra containment seals to complex explosive tags. As I poured over the basics, my mind wandered to applications far beyond what the scrolls described.

"Chakra as energy… but what if you could incorporate concepts from chemistry into the seals? Like an energy reaction… controlled combustion?" I murmured under my breath.

"Talking to yourself again, Grant?"

Startled, I glanced up to see Aunt Naori, one of the clan's seal masters, standing in the doorway. She always had a knack for sneaking up on me. She gave me a knowing look, her dark hair tied back neatly, and a stack of scrolls balanced under her arm.

"Seals are not something to experiment with lightly," she said, setting the scrolls down on the desk across from me. "They're as dangerous as they are useful."

I grinned slightly, but the warning wasn't lost on me. "I'm not experimenting yet, Aunt Naori. Just trying to understand the logic behind them."

She narrowed her eyes, walking over to glance at my notes. She couldn't understand the English, but the chakra sketches and diagrams on the sides made her frown.

"You're already thinking too far ahead," she muttered, shaking her head. "Focus on mastering the basic storage seals before you try anything revolutionary."

I nodded, hiding my impatience. But as she sat down to guide me through a practical session, I couldn't help but think about all the ways seals could be improved.

Later that night, I sat in my room, the pale moonlight casting shadows across the papers scattered around me. I carefully drew a simple storage seal on a blank tag, pouring chakra into it just as Naori had taught me. The ink glowed faintly, and with a triumphant grin, I placed a kunai on the seal.

"Seal!" I whispered, and the kunai disappeared into the tag.

Excitement surged through me as I flipped the tag over in my hand. A weapon that could appear and disappear at will? The strategic possibilities were endless. But this was only the beginning.

The next day, I found myself back in the library, this time under Naori's supervision.

"Storage seals are your foundation," she said. "Once you understand how to store objects, you'll learn how to store more complicated things, like chakra. But remember—"

"I know, Aunt Naori," I interrupted, "one wrong line in a seal and it could explode in my face."

She smirked slightly. "Good, you've been paying attention. Now, let's see if you can handle something a little more advanced."

She handed me a scroll that detailed chakra absorption seals. My eyes lit up as I read through the instructions. This seal could absorb and temporarily store a small amount of chakra from an attacker, redirecting it back.

"Think of it as a chakra battery," Naori explained.

The idea was fascinating, and it didn't take long for me to create a functional version of the seal on a small strip of paper. When I tested it on a tiny flicker of my chakra, the seal glowed, and I felt the energy pulled from me into the tag.

"Impressive," Naori said, her tone almost approving.

Over the next few weeks, I began incorporating seals into my everyday training. Explosive tags for quick traps, barrier seals for defense, and even a prototype sealing array that could detect and disable basic genjutsu.

But one evening, as I worked alone, an idea struck me.

"What if a seal could temporarily enhance chakra flow, like boosting power during a critical moment?"

I scribbled designs furiously, experimenting with how the seals could work in tandem with my own chakra network. It was still theoretical, but I was determined to figure it out.

"Please check out my main story and send power stones!

Every 10 power stones on my main story gets you an extra chapter on Saturday for each story."
