Chapter 355 - 355: Grandfather and Grandson
Chapter 355: Chapter 355: Grandfather and Grandson
After a few exchanges, Qin Lang and Shen Qian left the hotel together, soon went their separate ways, with Shen Qian heading to the Tower of Food, and Qin Lang proceeding to the Breeze Restaurant to rendezvous with Su Henian.
Three days later, Breeze Restaurant entered the preparatory stage for their relocation into the Tower of Food. The number of food guests served had intentionally been decreased to relieve some congestion.
Every store inside the Tower of Food had to undergo a total rearrangement every month, a process which was pre-arranged and not heavily advertised.
In fact, all the storefronts were pre-decorated, all they needed was to bring their staff, necessary equipment to the new location, and replace the signboard.
As for the Breeze Restaurant, most of the relocation preparation involved adjusting the staff. After all, the original restaurant would continue to operate while part of the workforce was dispatched to the Tower of Food.
And to deal with the upcoming scoring rank, the better staff members were inevitably the ones to be transferred.
Such an adjustment was enough to give Su Henian a headache.
Still, amidst his busy schedule, he spared some time for Qin Lang.
When Qin Lang arrived at the entrance of Breeze Restaurant, Su Henian was already waiting for him.
“Come, I’ll take you to the location of the Fishing Competition,” Su Henian laughed, “You’re good at fishing, this is an opportunity not to be missed.”
“I can fish, but I wouldn’t say I’m a master at it, so I’m just participating for fun,” Qin Lang said modestly, “Uncle Su, will you join too?”
“I’m far less proficient at fishing, plus the restaurant still has a lot of things to deal with.” Su Henian shrugged, “The organizer of the Fishing Competition is a friend of mine, so it’ll be more convenient for both of us if I take you there.”
“By the way.” Su Henian suddenly smiled, “I told Ah Hui about the Qualification Battle, and she asked me to thank you on her behalf.”
“Ms. Song Hui is too polite.” Qin Lang chuckled.
“When Breeze Restaurant moves to the Tower of Food, Alt Hui and ZhiZhi will visit Ye Zhi City. If you’re still here by that time, we can have a meal together.”
“That sounds great.”
With that, Su Henian started his car and drove away with Qin Lang.
About fifteen minutes later, they arrived at a small lake.
“Ye Zhi City doesn’t have any rivers, but a city’s water supply cannot always depend on its surrounding cities, so long ago, Ye Zhi City dug artificial underground canals to divert water from Bei Qiu River and East Xian River into several man-made lakes.”
Su Henian introduced, “We are now at the largest of Ye Zhi City’s man-made lakes, called Falling Cloud Lake.”
“What a beautiful name.” Standing by the lakeside, Qin Lang couldn’t help but scan his surroundings, “If you hadn’t told me, Uncle Su, I wouldn’t have noticed this was an artificial lake.”
“Haha, after all, it has been quite some years since it was built, all traces of artificiality have been wiped out. There are dozens of different species of fish being bred here, and they have formed a self-sustaining ecosystem.” A proud voice came from behind them.
Qin Lang turned around to see a bald man sporting a deep tan and gaudy shorts, his face rugged but friendly, each smile radiating warmth.
“Old Su, is this the kid you mentioned?”
“Correct, let me introduce, this is Qin Lang.” Su Henian smiled, then gesturing to the bald man, “This is Du Hao, the manager of Falling Cloud Lake. His great grandfather was actually the lake’s founder.”
“The organizer of the Fishing Competition is also him.”
Hearing Su Henian’s introduction, Qin Lang expressed his respect, “Nice to meet you.”
“Haha, those are just some old achievements, not worth mentioning.” Du Hao waved his hand dismissively, but his face was lit up with delight.
“It’s kind of embarrassing actually, I only organized this Fishing Competition because of my personal love for fishing, and wanted to invite others who share the same interest in fishing to participate,” Du Hao chuckled, “Due to its small scale, it’s not recognized by the Association.”
“Therefore, the ranking won’t earn you Star Power.” Du Hao scratched his head, “But there are plenty of commemorative medals and prizes!”
“Rest assured, Uncle Du, I didn’t come for Star Power.” Qin Lang chuckled.
If there’s Star Power, it would be great. If not, this fun activity still allows him to kill some time, right?
“That’s good then.” Du Hao smiled, “The competition starts in an hour, come, let’s get you registered.”
“By the way, do you have fishing gear?”
“Yes, I brought a set.” Qin Lang tapped the bag he’d been carrying since he left his house.
This was the fishing rod he’d used in the Lan Qiu Forest, and now it was being called into service again.
“Then there’s no problem, let’s go!” Du Hao laughed heartily.
“Old Du, take good care of Qin Lang. I’ll be going now.” Seeing his task accomplished, Su Henian chuckled and bid them farewell.
“Leave it to me!” Du Hao waved him off nonchalantly.
“Goodbye, Uncle Su!” Qin Lang waved goodbye to Su Henian, then followed closely behind Du Hao, arriving at the registration area in no time.
After completing the registration, he politely declined Du Hao’s company, took his two little companions for a walk around Falling Cloud Lake, while also looking for the perfect spot to fish during the competition.
There were quite a few people by the lake, each of them carrying fishing gear. All had registered for the upcoming game and were waiting for it to start.
There weren’t many young Spirit Chefs like Qin Lang taking part in the fishing event, as the majority of participants were middle-aged.
Watching each participant casting their lines by the lakeside got Qin Lang thinking that his chances of winning this fun competition were diminishing.
Although it was a fun game, the rules of the competition did not allow the use of a Food Spirit’s Combat Skill; it was a competition that relied on the Spirit Chef’s own abilities.
As Qin Lang was observing the other competitors, a good number of competitors also noticed him. In the world of fishing, a young man like Qin Lang was a rare sight.
By the lakeside not far from them, an old man and a young boy sat side by side. The old man patted the boy at his side, “Told you this competition isn’t only for us old folks, look, that boy there is about your age!”
The boy glanced at Qin Lang, surprise flashed in his eyes, then he turned up his nose, “So what? He might have also been dragged here by his family.”
“Absolutely not.” The old man shook his head confidently, “Look at him, he doesn’t seem unwilling at all, completely different from you.”
“You knew I was unwilling, yet you still dragged me here!” The boy looked at the old man helplessly, “Grandpa, you’re so mean!”
“Fishing is a lot more fun than sitting at home playing games all day.” The old man defended himself, “Now watch and learn, I’ll show you the real strength of the ‘Fishing King’!”
“Boasting again.” The boy rolled his eyes.
“Hey, how’s about this,” the old man suddenly had an idea, “Why don’t you compete with that boy and see who catches more fish? If you win, I’ll buy you that figurine you’ve been wanting.”
“Deal!” The boy got up and walked towards Qin Lang.
