In the midst of lighthearted chitchat, the three of them had quickly enjoyed a feast in the finest restaurant in Lanqiu City.
By the time the three of them reached Lanqiu Arena, the final round of the Youth Training Competition was about to start.
“Wow! True to its fame, the Rankings Match is much livelier than the previous fights.” Looking at the bustling crowd near the Arena, Shen Qian couldn’t help but exclaim, “Was there such crowd in the morning too?”
“Not so much in the morning,” Zhou Tianhao chuckled from the side. “Even on the same day, different matches can be more popular than others.”
“Makes sense. The upcoming contest will determine the final ranking of this Youth Training Competition, so naturally, it attracts the most attention.” Shen Qian nodded in understanding. “We should get going then, otherwise, it’s going to get even more crowded.”
With that, she turned to Qin Lang and said, “Qin Lang, give it your all! I believe in you.”
“Alright,” Qin Lang nodded, his mindset now much more relaxed than before.
He had made ample preparations for this battle against Yu Kun, thus he felt satisfied regardless of the outcome.
“Go Qin Lang! We believe you can be the champion!”
A few young boys and girls recognised Qin Lang and began cheering and waving at him from afar.
Over a few fights, Qin Lang had gained a fanbase, though not as large as Yu Kun’s, there were still numerous supporters cheering for him.
“I will do my best!” Qin Lang waved back at the supporters he had never met before. He then turned to Zhou Tianhao and Shen Qian. “You two should get to the audience seats. I’ll head to the Contestant Preparation Seat.”
Zhou Tianhao didn’t say anything. He patted Qin Lang on the shoulder, giving him an encouraging look, then he and Shen Qian plunged into the crowd.
Watching the two of them enter the venue, Qin Lang walked towards the Players’ Entrance, under the watchful eyes of the spectators, and arrived at the Contestant Preparation Seat.
On the Contestant Preparation Seat, the other three players had already arrived early and sat at both ends of the seat.
On one side was Yu Kun and Ling Ziye sitting side by side, and on the other side was Bear Battle, who had distanced himself from the two as much as possible.
Seeing Qin Lang’s arrival, Bear Battle’s eyes lit up, and he excitedly waved at Qin Lang to sit next to him.
Upon seeing this, Qin Lang couldn’t help but smile.
He could tell that before he arrived, Bear Battle had been sitting alone somewhat awkwardly.
He walked straight over and sat down next to Bear Battle, whispering, “You guys came here pretty early.”
“Grabbed a bite nearby at noon,” Bear Battle scratched his head. “After eating,
I had nothing else to do, so I came early.”
After speaking, a bit of awkwardness clouded his face, “Not long after I arrived, those two showed up. If I had known they’d come this early, I would’ve loafed around outside instead.”
Before Qin Lang’s arrival, Yu Kun and Ling Ziye sitting side by side had put a great deal of pressure on Bear Battle.
One of them was the champion seed who had easily beaten him, and the other was the opponent he was about to face. Sitting in the Contestant Preparation Seat with them made Bear Battle feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.
But he couldn’t just leave as soon as they arrived; it would have shown that he was scared, resulting in a setback in his morale.
With Qin Lang’s arrival, the atmosphere in the arena was not so tense.
Thinking about this, Bear Battle gave Qin Lang a grateful look and subconsciously asked, “And you? Have you eaten?”
“Yeah, had a great meal at Chun Man Lou at noon. Brother Zhou treated us,” Qin Lang nodded.
“That’s the finest hotel in Lanqiu City.” A hint of envy crossed Bear Battle’s face. “If I make it to third place this time, I’ll go have a taste of it, as a treat to myself.”
“You probably won’t get that treat of yours.”
Before Qin Lang could reply, Ling Ziye’s derisive voice came from the other side of the seat.
Consequently, their hushed conversation was overheard by Ling Ziye.
“We’ll see who wins and who loses,” Bear Battle growled, glaring at Ling Ziye.
If Qin Lang had not been there, he might have just snubbed the remark. But now that it was two against two, who was afraid of whom?
“You can’t possibly think that just because you narrowly advanced in the fight by relying on a Food Spirit, you can challenge me in the Rankings Match?” Ling Ziye sneered, “Isn’t that wishful thinking?”
He had a good reason to be arrogant.
In the first fight of the selection, Bear Battle hadn’t performed very well. He had only advanced to the fourth rank due to the high score in the second fight.
This indicated that Bear Battle’s two Food Spirits were imbalanced in strength. Even his strongest Spirit was weaker than Ling Ziye’s Food Spirit.
No matter how you look at it, there’s little suspense in this duel between the two of them.
Not only did Ling Ziye think this way, but internet speculation also leaned this way after the morning confrontation ended.
The majority predicted that Ling Ziye and Yu Kun would win the two matches, almost confirming the specific rankings of the top four.
“You’re not that great either, don’t be too arrogant,” Qin Lang retorted, rolling his eyes in support of Bear Battle.
Despite Bear Battle’s brash and proactive demeanour, Qin Lang appreciated him for what he was. Naturally, he wouldn’t sit by and be a spectator.
“Hmph!” Hearing Qin Lang’s words, the arrogance on Ling Ziye’s face quickly faded and he snorted discontentedly.
The scene from that morning’s fight still lingered in his mind.
It made him incredibly uncomfortable to remember how Qin Lang had easily defeated him while hiding his true strength.
Meanwhile, Yu Kun, who had been sitting with his arms folded and eyes closed, slowly opened his eyes and glanced at Qin Lang. “I promised Ling Ziye that I would defeat you on his behalf, are you ready for that?”
“The question is, are you ready?” With his mindset adjusted, Qin Lang was not afraid to face his soon-to-be mighty opponent. “Coming here this early, does it mean you have birthed your third Food Spirit?”
“No,” Yu Kun shook his head slowly. “I don’t need one.”
“Two three-star Food Spirits and the enhanced Spiritual Power after opening the third Star Vein should be enough to crush you,” he replied.
“Overconfidence isn’t good,” Qin Lang retorted indifferently, his gaze shifting back as he breathed a subtle sigh of relief inwardly.
The fact that Yu Kun hadn’t birthed his third Food Spirit was good news for him.
Of course, he didn’t rule out the possibility that Yu Kun might have said this deliberately to put him off-guard.
After a fiery exchange of pre-match verbal assaults, the Contestant Preparation Seat returned to silence.
Occasionally, Qin Lang and Bear Battle, and Yu Kun and Ling Ziye would whisper a few words to each other, but there was no longer any cross-talk between the two pairs.
Time ticked away, and before long, the afternoon match was about to begin.
In the midst of a grand applause and cheering, Bear Battle and Ling Ziye simultaneously walked towards the Player Passage.
The battle for the third place, also known as the Loser’s Bracket, was about to commence!
