Gourmet Hunter (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 156: Chapter 156 Plan

It was already evening when Law received the call from Buhara. At this time, he was practicing his Nen in his room.

Hearing Buhara say that he had passed the Hunter Exam, Law chuckled and asked, "How many candidates passed this year?"

"Sixteen in total, but I'm the only rookie among them." Buhara replied with obvious pride in his voice.

"Well, then you're great." Law teased in a nonchalant manner.

Buhara didn't caught the teasing, paused for a moment and said, "Dafifi asked me quite a bit about you."

"Who is that?"

Law stood up and walked to the window, looking at the night view outside.

Meanwhile, in another room…

Buhara was sitting on a couch, and opposite him were two people, one was Dafifi, and the other was Netero.

The phone was on speaker mode, so Dafifi and Netero could hear everything Law said clearly.

When he heard Law ask who he was, Dafifi's face suddenly turned dark, while Netero chuckled continuously.

Buhara glanced at Dafifi and gave the most concise introduction, allowing Law to instantly realize who Dafifi was.

"He's the examiner who came for the free meal."

Hearing Buhara's direct introduction, the corners of Dafifi's mouth twitched.

"Oh, that guy." Law immediately thought of the examiner who was chewing the roasted pork skin with relish. Based on his physique and behavior, Law guessed he was likely an Enhancer. After all, his teeth were able to chew such hard roasted pork skin.

"What did he ask about?" Law asked, wondering why Dafifi wanted to ask about him.

"He asked about our relationship, how we met, and about the incident in the Amaromi Forest. I told him everything." Buhara replied honestly. After a pause, he added nervously, "Law, will you be mad at me for saying all that?"

"No, it's not a big deal." Law replied, though his brows furrowed slightly as he tried to deduce why Dafifi had taken an interest in him.

Hearing Law's reassurance, Buhara breathed a sigh of relief. He was now Dafifi's apprentice, and it was difficult for him to just perfunctorily answer his master's questions. The key point was that Netero was also there.

Although Buhara is naive, he is not stupid. He can see that Netero is coming for Law. He has just got his Hunter License when Dafifi comes to him and says he wants to teach him Nen, so it's probably because of Law.

But on this point, he was wrong.

Netero did come for Law, but Dafifi really took a fancy to his qualifications.

"By the way, I won't be able to visit you anytime soon. I have to train with Dafifi." Buhara said, and then looked at Netero. He was hesitating whether to tell Law about Netero and Dafifi listening to their conversation beside him.

Noticing Buhara's gaze, Netero seemed to understand his thoughts and smiled gently at him.

'I can't say it!'

It was a smile that looked so kind, but it seemed to be saying to Buhara: You will not be a good boy if you expose yourself.

"Did he take the initiative to find you?" Law asked.

"Yes."

"Then you should train well with him and learn everything you can. When you've mastered it, come and teach me."

"Huh? Teach you?" Buhara was stunned.

Netero and Dafifi also heard what Law said, and a hint of doubt flashed across their eyes.

"My Nen is only half-baked, and the techniques I know are not comprehensive enough. Since Dafifi was chosen as an examiner, his ability should be good." Law explained: "In short, just focus on learning from him. Take your time, there's no need to rush."

Law didn't know that Dafifi and Netero were next to Buhara at this time. If he had known, he would have chosen his words more carefully.

Buhara came back to his senses and said with a bitter face: "Okay."

He felt somewhat conflicted. On one hand, he was relieved that he hadn't been intimidated by Netero's smile, but on the other, he felt like he had inadvertently set Law up for trouble.

"If there's nothing else, I'll hang up. Good luck." Law said and prepared to hang up the phone.

"Wait, there's something else!" When Buhara heard that Law was about to hang up, he hurriedly tried to stop him.

Law was just about to put down his phone, but when he heard Buhara's words, he put the phone to his ear again and asked, "Go ahead."

At this time, Buhara looked at President Netero and felt extremely uncomfortable.

Before making this call, Netero had told him that once they caught up, he wanted to speak with Law briefly. But after Law just said something like that in front of Netero...

Netero stroked his beard and shook his head at Buhara.

The meaning is very clear, that is, he doesn't plan to talk to Law anymore.

Buhara was stunned for a moment, then immediately understood what Netero meant by shaking his head. This was actually the result he wanted to see.

"Oh, no problem. It's nothing." Buhara quickly corrected himself.

Law didn't understand what was going on, but he didn't pursue it further. He simply said a few words and hung up the call, then continued his interrupted Nen training

Even though there are shortcuts, Law still maintains a fixed time for training every day. After all, no matter how small a mosquito's leg is, it is still meat.

Although the effect of such repetitive training couldn't compare to the efficiency of shortcuts, it is better than nothing.

After hanging up, Buhara breathed a sigh of relief and felt much more relaxed.

"Chairman." Dafifi frowned.

"Hoho."

Netero chuckled, then waved his hand, and said calmly: "Just do your job well."

"Ha..." Dafifi forced a bitter smile. He had been part of the Hunter Association for over a decade and had mentored several students, but this was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

Ever since he met Law, he has experienced many firsts.

'He clearly had the ability to pass the test, but he chose to withdraw. That would be fine, but I thought he was a Nen Master, but he actually asked his friend to learn from me and then teach him.'

'What the hell is going on?'

Seeing that Law was so young, Dafifi thought that Law must have trained under a well-known Nen Master.

"Gorilla."

Netero jumped off the sofa, patted Dafifi on the shoulder, and chuckled: "Life should be full of surprises... It's more interesting that way."

After saying that, Netero walked towards the door, leaving Dafifi and Buhara stunned.

Listening to Netero's incoherent words, Dafifi even forgot to care about the fact that he called him 'gorilla' again.

After leaving the room, Netero walked in the corridor with his hands behind his back, muttering to himself: "It turns out that he is still unpolished. Being young is good..."

Netero had specifically made time to attend the final stage of the Hunter Exam after finishing his work, just in time for the briefing to end.

However, when he arrived at the venue, he did not see the person he wanted to see. This is why Dafifi and Netero were there when Buhara called Law after getting his Hunter License.

No matter which field, fresh talent is always welcome. In Netero's opinion, Law may be the next Ging, joining the Hunter Exam as a rookie and becoming fresh blood that cannot be ignored.

Unfortunately, Law withdrew from the test for unknown reasons, but joining the Hunter Association is just a matter of getting a license.

Netero wanted to contact Law through Buhara, but he didn't expect that Law seemed to have learned Nen by himself, which made things much more interesting.

The moment he asked Buhara to hang up the phone, Netero had already made plans.

To properly reach out and refine Law's potential would require considerable effort and time, which wasn't easy for someone in Netero's position.

For now, he decided to monitor Law's movements and plan further steps later.

Of course, Netero didn't necessarily need to get involved directly, as there were other suitable candidates for the task.

.....

At the same time, Illumi had finally returned to Kukuroo Mountain.

After he left Meteor City, he initially planned to head straight back to Kukuroo Mountain, but he got sidetracked by a job request. Completing the assignment caused some delays, and only now did he finally return.

At least the clothing he needed to deliver to his mother was intact. That was all that mattered.
