__________

This is a group of dinosaurs.

A group of megalodon dinosaurs that are primarily carnivorous but also eat fruit when available.

The largest among them is only four meters in length. Compared to the terrifying world of giant beasts around them, they are indeed a vulnerable tribe.

Despite their weakness, it is precisely this vulnerability that has led them to adapt by hunting in groups when facing larger herbivores. They have also learned to scatter and flee when confronted by predators, much like the schooling effect seen in fish, sacrificing some to ensure the escape of others.

In this harsh world, only these survival tactics allow them to thrive and continue their line.

As time passed, some among them evolved, gradually developing forms suited to different regions of the continent.

Eventually, some of them discovered their god.

It was a massive mountain range with an awe-inspiring crater at its peak.

Beneath this enormous crater lay a colossal head, partially emerging from the magma below.

The head alone was as large as a small hill.

Despite its size, the head bore a striking resemblance to the dinosaurs.

No one knows who first found Him.

But after the initial terror subsided, these dinosaurs developed a profound reverence, eventually leading to the most primitive form of faith.

If this were an ordinary world, such belief might have changed little.

But this world is far from ordinary.

Some dinosaurs living near the god's mountain noticed that certain offspring from the latest generation displayed strange mutations.

These new generations, who would normally have a big-bellied, hunched form, began to stand upright, and the sharp claws on their forelimbs became softer and more flexible.

Did this evolution make them weaker?

Yes, at least from the perspective of the primitive dinosaurs, these new, mutated individuals from the Cenozoic era seemed far too frail to hunt like their ancestors.

Fortunately, there were only a few of these mutated dinosaurs initially.

Drawn by scent or possibly by some deep-seated genetic connection, the primitive dinosaur group didn't view them as foreigners but as blood relatives.

In this world, after all, evolution and mutation have been common over countless generations.

Thus, under the care of the primitive dinosaurs, this first generation of "dinosaur people" was able to grow up safely.

Like their ancestors, these dinosaur people ate raw meat and drank blood. However, unlike the primitive dinosaurs, they were far more intelligent, slowly learning to create tools and use fire as they continued to thrive.

Over time, under the shelter of the mountain range, the population of dinosaur people began to grow rapidly.

As their numbers increased, the leadership of the tribe naturally shifted to the hands of the new dinosaur people.

This transition happened because the dinosaur people, with their intelligence, were more suited to ensure the survival of the tribe on this continent.

They used their wisdom and tools to defeat nearby powerful foes and eventually asserted their dominance.

While this change may seem swift, it actually took thousands, even tens of thousands of years.

______

Early in the morning, the sun rose slowly from the horizon.

On a high mountain range, countless primitive people gathered in an immense stone square.

Over 50,000 stood there, each standing about four meters tall.

While they seemed 'petite' compared to their massive surroundings, the blood relatives of the dinosaur people—the more primitive dinosaurs—were the most conspicuous figures standing on the square's outskirts.

These dinosaur relatives, unable to evolve into dinosaur people, had retained their original dinosaur forms but had grown significantly in size.

These massive creatures, some reaching lengths of ten to fifteen meters, provided additional strength to the tribe.

"The darkness has passed, and the light has come!"

"Great God of Lava and Earth! Watch over your people. Today, your people will go forth to destroy the alien evil that has plagued the Lava and Earth tribe!"

"This offering is a delicacy your people present to you. Please, care for your people as you have done since ancient times!"

On the massive stone square, an elderly dinosaur man held an iron scepter and prayed loudly. At his signal, a group of dinosaur people pushed a heap of various animal corpses toward the giant crater.

Below the crater, the terrifying god lay in slumber, his massive eyes closed.

Yet, as the offerings approached, or perhaps lured by the aroma of food roasting from the high heat, the god reflexively opened his immense jaws and consumed everything before him.

Not only did he devour the dinosaurs' offerings, but also drew in vast streams of magma.

As they watched the god consume the food, the dinosaur people gathered around the crater did not feel fear but awe and excitement.

For it was not every day that the god accepted their offerings.

In the eyes of the dinosaur people, when the god accepted their food, it was a sign that he would protect them.

Seeing this, the elderly dinosaur man with the scepter turned, filled with excitement, and announced the god's favor to the gathered crowd of dinosaur people and their kin.

Amid thunderous cheers, the dinosaur people sprang into action.

They quickly mounted their blood relatives, gripping various weapons in their hands.

With the earth rumbling and dust rising into the sky, the dinosaur army began to descend the mountain.

With the god's blessing, the dinosaur people were certain they would emerge victorious, their spirits blazing as hot as the midday sun!

James is dreaming.

He's having a very long dream.

In his dreams, he sometimes feels as though he's human again, living a mundane life on Earth, but also experiences strange and surreal visions.

Lately, James's favorite vision is one where he watches a civilization being born because of him.

They're a race of dinosaur people, a group who worship him as their god.

Driven by reverence, they even bring him offerings from time to time.

Is this just a dream?

No!

James is in a state between sleep and wakefulness.

He can observe everything happening around him, yet he's not fully conscious.

And in this state, he has witnessed the existence of the dinosaur people.

James is fascinated by them.

In this desolate world, he's no longer alone, and the presence of intelligent life is a source of joy.

Even though James cannot understand their language, he perceives that they are becoming stronger.

Each time there is a sacrifice, he feels vibrations through the ground and hears their sounds.

Naturally, James feels a kinship with this primitive civilization that has come to venerate him.

'What am I?'

'Do I look like a lizard?'

'But maybe not?'

James doesn't know—he hasn't awakened fully, and without a mirror, he can't see himself.

But he assumes he must resemble a lizard or a dinosaur in some way.

Perhaps that's why the dinosaur people found him and began worshipping him?

Regardless, this seems like a promising beginning.

When he finally awakens, he'll no longer be alone and can watch the rise of a new civilization.

Such a unique experience as this is something no human could ever imagine!

So James has been trying to wake up lately.

But, just like a human in a lucid dream, though he wants to wake, something still holds him in sleep.

He knows he's been asleep for a very long time, so long he's nearly forgotten what time even means, yet he has no control over when he will awaken.

But James isn't worried; he senses that his awakening isn't far off.

Maybe all it will take is a thought, an opportunity.

And so, James waits.

This waiting doesn't feel tedious; after all, he's dreaming while he sleeps.

Sleep, for a living being, is never an unpleasant experience.

In this half-dream, half-waking state, James finally senses his consciousness reconnecting with his body, and he knows he's close to waking up.

__________

"Oh no!"

"Those damned dark and poisonous fog aliens are collaborating with the aliens in the ocean!"

"They ambushed our brave warriors! The people of Lava and Earth have suffered heavy losses!"

"What should we do now? Those aliens are coming to kill us! They want to wipe us out!"

At the foot of the vast mountain range lies a network of colossal stone caves.

These caves form the present-day tribal settlement of the dinosaur people.
