Chapter 21: Destroying the Dragon
Feeling the sword in his hand blazing with the ethereal flames, though it was larger than his size (but it was obvious as he was only five yr old) he looked at the sky, at the same time he was amazed by the description of the sword he got from the system.
Feeling the sword in his hand blazing with ethereal flames, he couldn't help but marvel.
Though it was larger than his size (understandable, as he was only five years old), it wasn't the size or the splendidness of the sword that amazed him, but the description of the sword provided by the system.
[Asi : The Sword of Rudra
In times past, the Asuras ('demons') engulfed the world in chaos.
The Devas ('gods') tried to oppose the Asuras and restore Dharma ('righteousness'), but the demons were powerful. Desperate, the Devas turned to Brahma — the Hindu God of Creation — for help.
Brahma performed a sacrificial ceremony in the Himalayas, releasing so much power that the earth trembled and the sky rained fire.
Then, from the depths of chaos, a creature was born — Asi.
It dazzled with a brilliant blue light, and looked terrifying with its razor-sharp teeth.
At Brahma's command, Asi transformed into a sword blazing with ethereal flames.
Brahma entrusted Asi to Rudra, Storm God and Destroyer of Evil.
To perform the deed, Rudra altered his appearance.
Indeed, he was a sight to behold — with four arms and a stature that touched the heavens.
The Asuras — seeing that Rudra came alone — underestimated his powers.
They attacked with glee, but were instead slaughtered without mercy until their corpses littered the earth.
This sword was the primordial weapon created by the Gods for the destruction of evil.
The name of the sword was Asi, the personification and the primary energy behind all weapons ever created as such it is the most powerful weapon ]
He had never heard of such a powerful sword, but then again, he hadn't heard of the other two things he received from the novice pack either.
Even though the sword was almost twice his size, it didn't feel heavy.
It felt as though it was a natural extension of his body, as if the sword itself was part of him.
The moment he gripped the sword, he realized that even though he still had more than half of his spiritual qi left, he could only use one move before being rendered powerless.
So, he decided to directly challenge the Heavenly Dao, provoking it to end the Tribulation with one final strike.
Perhaps it was because he was angry at the Heavens, as they dared to try and make him believe she was his weakness, who knows.
However, the Heavenly Dao seemed eager to respond, as a deafening rumble reverberated throughout the area, and hundreds of white lightning bolts hurtled toward him at breakneck speed.
By the time they reached him, all the lightning strikes had merged into one and assumed the form of a gigantic liz...cough Dragon, which roared and dove at him, its immense form intent on devouring him.
A heavy pressure weighed down on him, forcing him to his knees, and he felt like every bone and muscle in his body was being torn apart
As the overwhelming pressure consumed him, and he watched the massive dragon diving towards him, he closed his eyes, letting his thoughts drift deep within his soul.
It was his heart lake, his soul space, the very core of his consciousness.
Only when you shrink to the extreme can you have the strength and the opportunity to stretch.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes as countless flicker of lights danced in the depths of his pupils before fading into a bleak, unwavering gaze.
The deterrence never affected him as he never thought of heavenly Dao as his enemy.
Over the years, many had tried and failed, but he never stopped.
It wasn't that he had grown more cautious over time—it was simply that there was no one left who dared challenge him.
To be honest he missed the time when he wasn't so strong that people would just fear his name and dare not confront him.
The time when he used to feel his blood boil every time he fought against someone.
The feeling of defeating the person in front of you head to head, the feeling of doing something which everyone thought was impossible to do, felt different.
And now, he had the chance to feel that again. So why not embrace it?
Just as the dragon was mere meters away, his body moved.
At the same moment, a monstrous sword intent erupted from him with a golden-yellow sword light piercing the sky, resonating with the light that broke through from his heart—a vivid solitude as he grasped the sword tightly in his hand.
His will sharpened to a point, focusing entirely on the tip of the sword, as he swung the massive blade, nearly twice his size, directly toward the dragon's head.
Clang!!!
With a sound, it directly collided with the diving dragon.
Boom!!
The collision was so close to him and the ground that the surrounding are was instantly obliterated.
There was no fancy move, just a casual strike but as long as one's will is strong enough, and one's mind is attached to the sword becoming one with it—what is known as Sword Intent, even a casual strike becomes lethal.
And so it was.
Asi, the sword, forged from the chaos itself, was far stronger than the so-called Heavenly Dao.
With a single slash, the mighty dragon was cleaved in half, offering no resistance.
The terrifying sword intent and the sight of a small child fighting such a mighty dragon without any fear shook the hearts of the two women watching from afar.
The last lightning strike, which took the form of a dragon, was far beyond what anyone in the Foundation Realm could hope to withstand—let alone the immense pressure that accompanied it, but, women could only watch anxiously, hoping for the storm to pass.
At this point, the terrifying lightning strikes in the sky had completely vanished, leaving behind a clear, bright sky, as if they had never existed.
The terrifying phenomenon that occurred earlier caused a huge bowl-shaped crater to form on the ground.
And in the middle of that, a small child stood, using his sword to keep himself upright, his body trembling with exhaustion.
But he didn't have to rely on the sword for long.
Because, a figure approached him as soon as the lightning disappeared.
As he looked at the beautiful woman in front of him, who was looking worriedly at him with her red eyes, he could see some inexplicable emotions in the depth of her eyes.
'So, it's unavoidable, huh?'
"Sister Qing," he muttered weakly as he retracted the sword into the system's storage space. But before he could say anything, his vision blurred, and he collapsed.
"Tian'er!" "Brother!"
Two voices echoed in unison as he fell, landing in a warm embrace.
He could feel the wetness of her tears as she held him gently, like he was a fragile toy.
But he could only let her do so as he didn't even have the strength to open his eyelids, and judging from his condition, it was a miracle that he was even alive.
His body was in a horrifying state—his white bones were visible through the charred remains of his flesh, and most of his internal organs were severely damaged.
Blood poured from every part of his ruined body.
It could have been far worse if he hadn't wielded the sword.
Even so, the aftermath of the collision had left him grievously wounded.
Though he had managed to cleave the dragon in two, he had been unable to prevent the scattered lightning from striking his body as he had no defense against it at the time.
Even though he had known he could only swing the sword once, he hadn't expected the cost to be this high.
He felt his whole body was hollowed out, even though he only used sword intent and swung the sword casually without using any sword move, it had drained every single drop of spiritual qi left in his body.
That left him wondering, what would had happened if if he had used a real sword technique?
'I shouldn't use this sword again anytime soon.'
[Ding!]
The system's notifications continuously echoed in his mind, but he ignored them.
He was too exhausted to care, lying there in her warm embrace, his eyes closed tightly.
...
P.S: So, here the weakness he is talking about were the thoughts he had previously about how he grew comfortable after meeting her.
Earlier he said that he never doubted himself so he more or less guessed that it was the world consciousness that made him fall into self-doubt as it knew that it has no authority over him.
