Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Battle For Ria

I quickly took out my Scythe and enlarged it as I attacked the Kronan and the others that had followed after his charge. The scythe slashed forward and had cut through many of the Kronans and was only blocked by a few who had used their obviously enchanted shields, to mitigate the impact. I smiled as I said a single word.

"Brisingr"

My Scythe was instantly enveloped in my Flames of Darkness and melted through parts of their shields and there were a few less Kronans to deal with. While this was happening, the warriors had made contact with the Marauders and while they were doing well against many of the Marauders, the Kronans that were with them, were making quick work of them. I had a decision to make, should I let the warriors prove themselves in battle against the Kronans saving their pride? Or, should I step in and make sure there is no loss of life in this battle?

As I was thinking about this, I realized there was a third option.

SWOOSH

I had thrown my enlarged scythe into the fray with the warriors who were fighting against the Kronans, and it was moving around fighting by itself and was able to hinder the Kronans just enough for the warriors to gain the upper hand. This allowed me to save the warriors pride, while also ensuring they didn't die.

How would I fight without my scythe you may ask? The answer is, that I will be using an ability that I had only recently gotten the hang of but hadn't practiced yet.

"Oh no, whatever will I do without my weapon?" I questioned sardonically to the now grinning Kronans.

"Well, it's time for a test run." I said excitedly.

Right after my words, I extended my arms to my sides and pitch black flames began to form. I started to create balls, lances and arrows of my black fire at the encroaching enemies. The fireballs exploded on impact, completely shattering the stone giants. The lances pierced into the chests of the Kronans and they slowly began to fall apart. The arrows contributed to the shattering of their bodies as it continuously chipped away at them.

As i was taking out Kronans left and right, i noticed many more rushing out from the encampment towards me. Evidently there were a lot more who had sided with the marauders than I thought. I could see roughly 500 or so making their way around the ongoing fights with the warriors to join their brethren who were being decimated by me.

'This is going to be more fun than I thought'

Quickly taking a moment to view how the warriors were faring, i noticed that most of the Kronans they were fighting, had been taken care of, the rest began to join the other 500 to fight against me. The warriors saw what was happening and momentarily paused their fight to see the situation. When they saw the army of Kronans coming toward me and the others from their battlefield going to join as well, they began to get angry and nervous.

"TO THE PRINCE!!" the de facto leader of the warriors, and the current head warrior, when i wasn't in command shouted and the warriors began to disengage.

I looked over and simply raised a hand signaling them to stop. Unfortunately I didn't command the same sense of confidence that Thor did when he was on the battlefield with his overwhelming power of thunder, so the warriors tended to underestimate me.

I then reached my hand out, calling to my connection with my scythe. Then to the shock of everyone on the battlefield, my scythe, which had then enlarged to be over 100 meters long had begun flying back towards me.

And if that wasn't enough, a seas of black flames began to form with me at the epicenter. What followed will be in the many stories that would be told of this battle.

The scythe came first and as it reached my hand, it had turned over 300 of the Kronans into rubble immediately after it struck them. When the scythe reached my hand, it shrunk back to its normal size and then I spun it around my body, gathering the flames that had built up. The sea of flames began to funnel towards my spinning weapon and destroyed another 100 Kronans as it made it's way to my weapon. These specific Kronans were not only rubble, but had turned into lumps of molten rock.

After all the fire was now spinning around my scythe, I released it all in one quick slash. The flame that had been built up, turned into a giant black flash of light that hit the remaining 200 or so Kronans. The result, UTTER DESTRUCTION.

There was now an entire separate battlefield that was just a bunch of stones scattered around and at the center, me. I then turned and addressed the Marauders.

"Anybody else!?!"

The faces I saw on the Marauders was one of pure terror and the faces of the warriors, was immense respect with a hint of fear as well. I could tell the Marauders knew that the battle was not one that they could win, but they still had their own pride as warriors and decided to fight to the last man and the last breath. They did avoid me like the plague though, so I simply let the warriors finish the battle, helping with a fireball here and there if they needed it.

(2 hours later)

The battle had ended and the warriors were tending to the wounded and gathering the spoils.

As I had been still standing in the rocky remains of my battle, I started to hear strange voices. All these voices sounded like ethereal whispers and they seemed to be calling to me. It was then that I noticed a sort of black smoke rising from all the bodies around me.

This whole situation seemed eerily familiar to me and it wasn't until a few moments later that i realized why it seemed familiar. I now knew what my power was. I had to be quick about it, as if my theory was correct, the sooner i do something, the better.

I turned to the secondary leader and head warrior of the Asgardian army.

"The battle is won. You and the rest of the warriors need to head back to Asgard and continue to treat the wounded. I will see you at the feast." i said succinctly.

The head warrior seemed reluctant.

"Your highness, you must get back to Asgard to report to your father." He said trepidatiously.

"This is an order from your general and Crown Prince. I will simply be burning the bodies, even our enemies deserve to properly be put to rest." I replied.

The head warrior seemed upset at my earlier words, but that settled into understanding and respect as he nodded and addressed the rest of the warriors.

"His highness has requested we return to Asgard, he will follow us after putting our enemies bodies to rest." He explained.

The warriors nodded and began to gather before the head warrior shouted into the sky.

"Heimdall we are ready to return!"

WOOSH

A giant beam of multicolored light came down and after the light faded, the warriors were gone and in their place was a large symbol that had been burned into the ground, a result of the Bifrost impacting the ground.

I then walked back into the center of the battlefield of dead bodies and said one word with a giant grin on my face. One word that would go on to send fear into all my enemies in the future.

"ARISE"
