God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The First Guinea Pig Chosen by the Mercenary Website

Northern New Town.

In the villa district by the waters.

"Stone man, use your ult! Use it! Ouch, that hurts! Damn it, the game crashed!"

The young man in the computer room stared blankly at the gray screen. His teammates' angry voices came through his headset:

"Josh, are you an idiot? Not using your ult? Digging your own grave?"

The young man quickly apologized:

"My computer keeps popping up ads. No worries, I'll turn on ad-block mode. Let's continue!"

Just as the team fight was about to start, an annoying pop-up ad forced the game to minimize and return to the desktop.

His teammate's voice came through the headset again:

"Another pop-up? Or did your monitor turn off? Stop making excuses for your trash performance!"

The young man was starting to get annoyed:

"Even if it's my fault, there's no need to curse me like that."

His teammate continued to berate him:

"Just shut up and take it. Do you even know who you're talking to? I'm a combat talent awakener.

How often do you get to speak with someone like me?"

The young man went silent. He reported his teammate for cheating, then exited the game.

Lying back in his gaming chair, he lit a cigarette when that damned pop-up ad appeared again! Frustrated, he threw down his lighter and clicked on the ad:

"Failed to awaken, and now even my computer is bullying me? Fine, let's see what kind of stupid ad this is!"

He was taken to a webpage.

"Welcome, Visitor #1065, to the Flame of Creation Mercenary Guild. You are a truly lucky person. Do you desire power?"

The background showed several demons holding a green flame lotus. The image was strikingly high quality.

"Damn, they must've spent a lot on this promo image. What kind of game is this?" Intrigued, the young man began reading the content.

"What does this mean? Buy this super fruit to gain a C-rank talent?"

He felt like they were treating him like an idiot.

"These ads are getting ridiculous."

According to some rumors, the internet would soon employ AI-driven big data monitoring. For instance, if you talked about traveling often, you'd start seeing travel agency ads. If you constantly complained about tooth pain, dentist ads would pop up.

But that technology wasn't mature yet, and only a few tech companies in Base Country 3 were at that level.

This young man's name was William. After failing to awaken, he dreamed of somehow gaining power.

He figured he was just a victim of AI big data tracking.

William sighed:

"The tech is impressive, but the people behind it must be idiots. Selling talents? Who are they fooling?"

Out of curiosity, he checked the price of the so-called talent.

"What the hell? 50 million? And it's on sale for 50% off at 50 million?"

He shook his head in disbelief: "Who's dumb enough to fall for this scam?"

William was about to close the page when he noticed the final words under the fruit.

Cash on delivery.

His curiosity got the best of him, and since he didn't need to pay anything upfront, he clicked to order. After all, his computer wasn't linked to any bank cards.

Immediately, a message popped up on the screen:

No returns once sold. Delivery within 48 hours.

William felt a strange sense of anticipation.

It wasn't the delivery of the super fruit he was excited about, but rather what might happen 48 hours later.

...

This website was created by Rosie.

It did have the capability for AI-driven big data tracking.

However, not just anyone could see these pop-up ads. They were selectively shown on the computers of family members of billionaires or to people with a strong desire after a failed awakening.

How did the system determine a strong desire?

For someone like William, who even mumbled in his sleep about wanting to awaken, the system took note.

...

The next day, William was woken up by the sound of his phone ringing.

Annoyed, he answered:

"Who is this?"

A cold voice came from the other end.

"Mr. William, your delivery has arrived."

William cursed:

"I've got money, I don't shop online! You idiot!"

He was about to hang up. "I'm a courier from the Flame of Creation Mercenary Guild."

William's grogginess faded almost immediately.

Had it really been delivered?

His interest in the Flame of Creation Mercenary Guild and the so-called super fruit that grants talents suddenly spiked.

Mainly, he wanted to see how this scam would play out.

He quickly replied, "I'll call security to let you into the complex."

The security at such villa districts was strict, and without the homeowner's permission, no one could get in.

"No need, just stay at home. I'll be there soon," the voice on the other end said before hanging up.

William frowned.

Without a call to security, how could anyone get into the neighborhood? Had the guards slacked off?

Then, a chilling thought crossed his mind—he hadn't even provided a delivery address when he ordered the super fruit!

How did this courier find his home? This was starting to feel eerie.

The doorbell rang.

William swallowed nervously, grabbed a baseball bat, and cautiously made his way downstairs.

Checking the front door's security camera, he saw a figure dressed in black, wearing a grotesque mask, and wrapped up tightly.

Through the intercom, William shouted, "Just leave it at the door."

The figure obediently placed the package at the doorstep and walked away.

William stepped out, glanced around cautiously, and grabbed the package before retreating to the sofa.

With shaky hands, he opened it.

Inside was a strange-looking fruit, almost too surreal to be real. He sniffed it, took a bite, and instantly turned pale.

"What the hell is this? Does it taste like crap?! Was this made out of sewage?"

William was baffled. What kind of sick joke was this? Was the website owner some kind of twisted prankster?

Frustrated, he stormed upstairs, ready to distract himself with videos of girls cleaning windows to calm down.

But then, there was another knock.

This time, it wasn't the front door—it was his bedroom door! The door was suddenly kicked open.

The black-clad figure appeared, looking displeased.

"The delivery arrived. Why didn't you verify it?"

William was terrified, trembling as he asked, "How did you get in?"

The man in black said nothing, holding up the half-eaten super fruit.

He grabbed William and forced the remaining fruit into his mouth.

William was sure he was about to die. This fruit had to be poisonous. This was clearly some sadistic murder scheme from the website!

After swallowing the entire fruit, he shut his eyes, waiting for the end.

But then, something unexpected happened.

[Weight Adjuster Fruit: C-rank]

[The ability to adjust body weight, ranging from one kilogram to ten thousand kilograms.]

William was struck with disbelief. Had he really awakened?

The man in black seemed impatient.

"You've verified the delivery, right? Now, cash on delivery."

William hesitated for a moment.

"Uh, mister, can I pay in installments? Like... over a hundred months or something?"

He could clearly hear the man in black chuckle.

Even through the mask, William could sense the mockery in his tone.

"Tonight, you need to log back into that website and transfer 50 credits."

"Or else, face the consequences."

Fifty credits = fifty million! Without another word, the man in black turned and left.

William rushed to check the security footage, but he saw no sign of the man leaving through the front door.

Could he fly?

William, curious and slightly panicked, decided to test his new ability. He concentrated, increasing the weight of his fist to a thousand kilograms.

Punching the wall, he left a massive crack in it.

His excitement was mixed with growing fear.

The Flame of Creation Mercenary Guild was definitely a terrifying organization.

Where on earth would he find fifty million?

He sighed and dialed his father's number:

"Dad, I've got some good news and some bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"

"Well, the good news is... I've awakened. C-rank."

"The bad news is... I'm fifty million in debt!"
