Chapter 6 - Does Hard Work Always Guarantee a Reward?
Chapter 6: Does Hard Work Always Guarantee a Reward?
The old saying goes, “You reap what you sow.” But is that always true? Sometimes, even tenfold effort might not yield a harvest. Does this mean we should give up striving?
Dreams are beautiful, but reality can be harsh. Don’t lose heart! Don’t despair! Life must go on.
As Tyler* said, “The best things in life don’t come alone, they come with everything else.”
[TL/N: John Tyler, was the 10th president of the United States (1841–45).]
Giving your all may not always bring the desired results. But don’t worry, because you deserve even better things.
Struggle is like a garment you must wear, no matter the weather – wind, rain, sunshine, success, or failure.
Yesterday’s sun can’t dry today’s laundry, but remember, that same sun still shines brightly in the sky. Even when hidden behind clouds, it will eventually break through and cast its warmth upon you.
As the saying goes, “As long as your heart faces the sun, there’s no fear of sadness.”
Maintaining a positive mindset is crucial. Whether facing life’s trivialities or work challenges, don’t let them weigh you down.
For example, when life gets tough, tell yourself, “It’s not so bad. It could be worse.” This shift in perspective can help you see the brighter side of things.
We often focus on material gains. When someone returns from working abroad, we ask about their earnings, but not their happiness. It seems that people care more about what you’ve acquired than your emotional well-being.
Even if you were to gain the whole world, it wouldn’t be enough. Human desire is insatiable.
Life is like a dream; we spend our whole lives just walking, walking a path towards happiness, walking a path towards spiritual fulfillment.
The body and soul, one of them must always be on the road.
Don’t be sad if heaven hasn’t given you a beautiful face; it doesn’t matter if you weren’t born with natural beauty. A beautiful life is far more valuable than a beautiful face.
Even when life throws you curveballs, don’t lose hope. Pick yourself up and create your own extraordinary story. You are the protagonist of your life, and life itself is the greatest stage. When you take on responsibilities and embrace your purpose, you’ll discover that strength comes not from inherent abilities, but from the unwavering effort you put forth.
Strength is partly a gift from the heavens, but it’s also cultivated through daily perseverance. Face setbacks and hardships head-on. The hard work you invest today will illuminate your path tomorrow.
Many people advocate for living in the present, as it’s the most authentic experience of life. But should we succumb to sadness and despair when the present is difficult? Absolutely not!
No matter what the present holds, good or bad, never give up. We must always plan for the future. It will get better, it will get better, it will get even better.
Indulge in the joys of the moment, but be mindful that fleeting pleasures can lead to lasting regrets. You might find yourself thinking, “If only I hadn’t…”
While many things in life are within our control, the past is unchangeable. Don’t dwell on what you’ve gained or lost. As long as there’s a tomorrow, the sun will rise and bring light.
Meng Jinfei: Come outside and see the shooting star.
Guoguo: Is there a shooting star tonight?
Meng Jinfei: Yes!
Guoguo: But I don’t see it.
Meng Jinfei: I am the shooting star.
Guoguo: Haha, you are?
Meng Jinfei: Yes, I am. Do you have any wishes? You can make them to me.
Guoguo: No, you’re not magical.
Meng Jinfei: I know, but I’ll give you all the happiness and joy.
Guoguo: Thank you!
Meng Jinfei: Do you feel like something’s missing?
Guoguo: What?
Meng Jinfei: Haha, I’ll give myself to you too.
Guoguo: Haha, no thanks.
