chapter 208
Chapter 208. Valentina’s Jealousy
“Pretty brutal, Princess. Doesn’t it even bother you to be so merciless?”
The fight concluded, and just as Valentina was still feeling unsatisfied,
Noah materialized behind her, seemingly out of nowhere, and spoke to her.
“It caused a lot of casualties, and as royalty, ensuring the safety of my people is merely doing what’s expected of me.”
To mask the fact that her actions were driven by jealousy, the Princess turned to face the ‘evil god’ behind her, adopting a noble and righteous demeanor.
“Such an excellent ruler. Well, what if I told you the humanoid part you just killed was once one of the very citizens you hold so dear?”
Seeing how ‘calm’ the Princess was, Noah, in a cruel tone, uttered this brutal ‘truth’.
“…You’re saying that thing was once human?”
Surprisingly, the Princess didn’t seem particularly shocked, merely glancing slowly at the now-motionless demonic flower, her voice devoid of any emotion as she sought confirmation.
“That’s right. So, do you regret having gone so hard on it?”
Noah also looked at the defunct demonic flower, admiring their joint masterpiece with the Princess.
The reason why the demonic flower couldn’t speak was because she wasn’t a natural demon, but an adventurer who had been devoured and transformed by the demonic flower below.
Why would Noah think that, you ask?
Well, it’s because that monster was still alive, its core neither the vines nor any humanoid part, but that huge, vivid red flower.
Presumably waiting for Noah and Valentina to leave so it could prey on other female adventurers.
And although it was the first time Valentina had heard Noah say it like this, she had vaguely suspected it before.
Some monsters that resemble people are humans who were defeated and transformed by other monsters.
They were once human, with families, lovers – important things.
Perhaps if she had failed without Noah, she might have ended up like that wicked creature.
But so what?
It’s not like Valentina was the one who caused their defeat.
Trying to lay a hand on her beloved God, they deserved to die.
“…Regret? I’m just glad she’s finally free. If I hadn’t dealt with her, you would have done something horrible to her, wouldn’t you?”
No longer looking at the corpse, the princess turned back to face Noah, her eyes full of contempt and disgust.
She was certain that if she hadn’t severed those vines, Noah would have happily given that adventurer, now a flower-fae monster, another taste of defeat play.
She couldn’t possibly let that enviable thing happen.
“What do you mean by ‘something horrible’? I was trying to free her too, just with a slightly more… forceful method.”
Noah thought Valentina was genuinely worried about the flower-fae being humiliated, so he chuckled, waved his hand, and intentionally gave Valentina a villainous smile.
“That’s why it wouldn’t do. She was already miserable enough, there’s no way I’m letting you, a god this awful, humiliate her further. I won’t stand for it.”
Valentina’s tone grew sharper, her eyes even more filled with resentment.
If the flower-fae had any residual consciousness, she would have cursed the princess for being shameless.
She’d much rather be humiliated by Noah, okay?!
Besides, anything was better than being cut down by Valentina’s sword, right?!
Unfortunately, the flower-fae was truly dead, so there were no complaints to be had.
“Haha, you can say that, but how long can you really stop me? You just happened to see this one. Who knows, I might be doing the same kind of thing where you can’t see it, hmm?”
Noah laughed indifferently, but there was no amusement in his eyes, adopting an attitude that made it impossible to guess what he was thinking.
“You can do whatever you want where I can’t see it, but it absolutely won’t happen in front of me. I won’t let you insult these poor people who have already fallen victim.”
—I’ve only had him once, how could I let those no-name b*tches steal what rightfully belongs to me?!
The princess’s exquisitely beautiful face was marked with dissatisfaction and defiance towards Noah.
Unless he fills her up first.
She would absolutely not allow such a thing to happen.
“Heh, princess, you’re awfully concerned about others, but what if I do it anyway? Are you going to take their place, then?”
Saying that, Noah was just letting the words fall out of his mouth.
“?!”
But that sentence made Valentina freeze, her expression clearly one of stunned disbelief.
What? Something that good could actually happen?!
Ah, no, no! Gotta control my expression, can’t let even a hint of a smile show, or I’ll give myself away!
Valentina, of course, wanted Noah to spend all his time on her, so when he so casually teased her, she almost blurted out that it was absolutely fine.
“Haha! Just kidding! Look at you, Princess, acting like a fool! You weren’t actually scared, were you?”
Because Valentina’s first reaction was the shock of not expecting Noah to say something like that, Noah assumed she was stunned by his rudeness (when actually, it was delight).
So Noah let out an even more impolite laugh.
Which immediately made the princess’s face turn even worse, after getting her hopes up for nothing.
“What? Mad? Being mad doesn’t change anything. Alright, hurry up and wipe out that main body at your feet and get back to your duties. Don’t come crying to me later, saying I didn’t warn you.”
But as Noah’s nonsensical words reached Valentina’s ears.
Valentina seemed to realize something, her expression turned icy as she immediately turned to look at the giant flower behind her.
Looking closely, it did seem to still be moving, and it wasn’t the wind.
Her attention had been completely drawn to the flower spirit, thinking it was a flower spirit and not a demon flower.
But actually, was a flower spirit growing out of the demon flower?!
Realizing the battle wasn’t over, the princess immediately conjured a new light blade from the void with magic, threw it into the demon flower, and without saying another word, blasted the flower part to smithereens.
That was an attack equivalent to a dragon’s full-force breath. Under such an attack, the dying demon flower had no means of resisting, and this time, it was truly dead.
Valentina was annoyed that she’d been tricked by the demon flower playing dead.
But thinking that Noah was, as always, looking out for her, specifically telling her that the monster wasn’t fully dead, she felt getting tricked wasn’t so bad after all. She was actually happy.
“……”
But in the end, the princess wasn’t happy after all.
Because when she turned back to say something to Noah.
He was already gone without a word.
Which instantly made the princess’s face darken, okay?
Well, she couldn’t help it. Though she’d previously thought that making Noah see the nun’s ugly side would completely disillusion him, she seemed to be running out of patience.
She had to do something to speed up the process.
