chapter 2
2. The Bad Beginning, but the Situation Got Better
Valentina Akast, the second princess of a certain kingdom who was not well received, always felt belittled by her siblings born to the king and queen.
However, despite this, Valentina grew up to be a princess with strong sense of justice, responsibility, and kindness towards the weak.
If the world’s evil stopped at that, Valentina would have lived a life that people would envy.
However, if one thought that the world’s evil was limited to family conflicts, that would be a huge mistake.
Because, in reality, this world is a game world centered around her misfortune!
In the future, she wouldn’t be able to be together with the person she had feelings for, and would be betrayed by various people.
In human society, she would be drugged by trusted companion yellow-haired people and NTR-ed by her childhood friend, and would be forced to serve as a servant beneath her castle lord.
In the wild, she would be defeated by various monsters, swallowed and assimilated by slimes, and used as a breeding tool by goblins and demonic dogs.
It can be said that she is the most miserable role in the entire world.
When Noah played this game, he thought the female protagonist was too miserable. She was just trying to be a good princess who protected the people, after all.
How could there be no one she could trust around her? Even someone she had feelings for, her childhood friend, was just a useless man like that. When Noah was playing the game, he would often get angry and want to rush in and kill both the useless man and the princess, or just destroy the world altogether, because it wasn’t worth saving.
“‘If I were there, I’d definitely help the unfortunate princess!’” Noah thought to himself after completing the game and discovering that the best ending was still just the useless man and the princess together.
But little did he know that when he woke up, he would actually find himself in the world of this game.
And then he became the antagonist, the one who betrayed Valentine, the princess he was supposed to protect.
No, this was even better than that. At least then Noah could watch over her chastity and purity. But as it turned out, Noah’s role was that of a “demon god” who existed only in the background of the story, and was mentioned only once at the beginning of the game.
According to the game’s developers, the original plan was to design the demon god as a hidden boss above the final boss, but due to various considerations (mainly because they couldn’t think of a way to continue tormenting the female protagonist and it was almost time to release the game), they decided to cut the story.
This left Noah in an awkward position. He sympathized with Valentine and wanted to help her avoid the numerous monsters and battles. But the problem was that with the evil power coursing through his veins, he didn’t look like a good person at all.
And even if he defeated one monster, another would appear, and the entire world’s male population could become a new monster at any moment. Noah couldn’t protect Valentine, unless he really destroyed the world.
So Noah decided that if he was going to lose anyway, he might as well let his demon god powers get to Valentine first.
That way, she would be defeated by the hidden boss at the beginning of the story and obtain the evil power.
From then on, Valentine would be able to resist the other monsters and enemies with her new powers.
If Noah couldn’t be a good companion to Valentine, he decided to become a bad guy who did good deeds.
By existing, he could make Valentine a bit more cautious about the world.
Now, as the demon god, Noah had the ability to control people and change their species. It was almost too easy.
Although he said he would let Valentine choose for herself, Noah had already decided to turn Valentine into the strongest being in this world – a dragon.
From a pure princess to a dragon queen with a wicked aura, she was definitely stronger than being a monster’s pet.
“How… how could this be…”
Valentine, who had completely transformed into a dragon, looked at her dragon tail swishing back and forth in front of her with a mix of unease and anxiety.
The princess’s face was completely pale.
“Hah, isn’t that perfect? Congratulations, Princess, from now on you’ll be the very thing you hate most – a monster.”
As Noah looked at the female protagonist who had undergone the transformation, he couldn’t help but laugh like a villain.
Although Noah’s tone was full of mockery, one had to admit that it was indeed fitting.
Valentine was originally a top-tier silver-haired beauty, not only with a captivating appearance but also a perfect physique, neither too thin nor too curvy. With her natural charm and beauty, she was the main selling point of the game, after all.
Now, with her smooth white skin covered in black-purple dragon wings and tail, the apocalyptic monster organs appeared on her body, making her even more beautiful and alluring.
Especially her expression of complete disbelief at having become the very dragon she wanted to defeat, which brought out the attribute of “unfortunate beauty” to the extreme.
—
Although Noah wasn’t really a sadistic pleasure-seeker, he had to admit that Valentina, transformed into a dragon, looked much more appealing than when she was with that blonde.
“What are you talking about?! How am I supposed to face Clyde like this?!”
Realizing she had truly become a half-dragon, half-human ‘monster,’ a certain feeling within Valentina finally overpowered her fear, making her confront the evil god who had turned her into this creature with fierce questions.
“Who is Clyde? Your lover? Wouldn’t it be better to just be honest? Since you can’t accept your lover after becoming a monster, you might as well break up sooner rather than later.”
Noah replied casually, as if he didn’t care about her situation at all.
But he actually knew that Clyde was the victim of this game world. Although there were many blondes, the victim was always just him.
At first, when he started playing, Noah thought Clyde was quite unfortunate too, but that cowardly personality made it hard for others to feel sorry for him. Could he be more miserable than Valentina herself, who was being toyed with?
“What!?”
Valentina was momentarily rendered speechless by the evil god’s response.
Though she hadn’t yet gotten together with Clyde, her childhood friend, she did have feelings for him, which made her instinctively wonder how she would face him now.
To her surprise, the answer she received made it hard for her to accept, especially since she found some truth in what Noah said.
This recognition of the evil god’s perspective sent chills down Valentina’s spine. Was it possible that not only her body but her soul had been tainted as well?
No! That couldn’t be true!
Even if her body was defiled, her soul would never submit to the evil god! Absolutely not!
