chapter 14
14. A Girl in Love, Troubled and Frustrated
—
Now Noah understood. Even if Valentina herself did not expect to be defeated, she was still the protagonist of this little drama. Besides her alluring body and stunning beauty, she likely had a wealth of knowledge in that regard.
Looking at her reaction, it was almost certain she was thinking about that kind of coerced defeat play.
To be fair, there was indeed a similar development in the original story.
However, Noah wasn’t doing all this just to be another blonde who could save her from the clutches of a blonde.
What he wanted to see was the protagonist herself, in her sheer veil, confronting her tormentor, rather than him stepping in to save her.
It seemed Noah’s actions over the past few days had been too mild; it was time to give her a taste of something stronger.
So, in response to Valentina’s furious glare, having her delusions exposed, Noah simply laughed as if he had heard the most brilliant joke, dramatically placing a hand on his forehead.
“Hahaha! I didn’t realize, Your Highness, that you’re such a masochist! What’s this? Do you really want to be toyed with by me?”
“!? No way! That’s not true!”
Even though she couldn’t see Noah’s entire face, from his mocking laughter, Valentina could pretty much guess what kind of expression he had.
It was definitely that of a villain treating her like a toy, right?
How infuriating! In the end, wasn’t it the other party’s fault for turning her into a wicked dragon?
Being reduced to a masochist made Valentina feel deeply humiliated, prompting her to step forward instead of retreating, fiercely rebutting Noah.
“Hmph, that’s not so certain. Who’s to say you’re not just a perverted princess seeking to be bullied, only you refuse to admit it?”
Noah scoffed disdainfully, casually spreading one hand, looking at the furious princess with a cold gaze, as if she were some kind of deviant.
“That’s not true! It’s people like you, who bully indiscriminately, that are the real perverts!”
The princess was so furious she was stamping her foot, wishing she could just shut Noah’s bullying mouth.
She couldn’t quite understand Noah’s behavior; was it really necessary to go this far to teach a lesson to a noble who didn’t follow the rules? And to drag others into it as well!
It was no wonder he had been defeated and sealed away by the goddess; he was just too unreasonable, like a natural disaster!
Oh, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got! If she hadn’t been so outmatched, she would have fought him tooth and nail this morning!
“Ha, say what you want. You know in your heart whether you’re a pervert or not. We’ll meet again, Princess. I just thought of some fun I need to get to right now.”
“Wait! Ah!”
Noah suddenly turned and left so gracefully that Valentina didn’t have time to react.
But in reality, she couldn’t stop Noah from doing anything anyway, as he left her with a handsome silhouette before vanishing completely.
To be honest, Noah’s condescending attitude, as if he didn’t even regard her, was something Valentina found hard to accept.
But all she could do was grit her teeth and endure; at least for now, that was the case.
“Um, Your Highness Valentina, what was that just now?”
As the ‘monster’ with an overwhelming presence departed, the guards, who had barely been able to stand during the earlier confrontation, visibly relaxed. The first thing they did upon regaining their composure was, of course, to inquire about what on earth that was.
“…I don’t know, but one thing’s for sure: he’s definitely not a good person.”
—
Valentina, who was fuming, couldn’t reveal Noah’s identity, but she wouldn’t offer any positive remarks either. She clenched her fists, thinking that next time, she would find a way to land a punch on him.
Seeing that Her Highness was in a bad mood, the guards kept their mouths shut, exchanging wry smiles as they glanced around at the chaos.
No matter how you looked at it, the aftermath of this was going to be quite troublesome.
Originally, Valentina didn’t need to be personally involved in the aftermath, but given the severity of the incident, she stayed behind to help the guards wake and comfort the crowd.
Especially regarding the issue of line-cutting, Valentina took particular care to attend to the couple who had been pushed aside.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want the noble son to take responsibility; the problem was that he had fainted outright, and no matter how much they called, he wouldn’t wake up. They would have to wait until he regained consciousness to ask him for the specifics.
Fortunately, the other citizens had merely fainted without serious injuries and quickly returned to normal.
This surprised Valentina, as the harm to the public was much less than she had anticipated. Could it be that the evil god wasn’t as savage and unreasonable as he appeared?
“Oh, it’s truly an honor to have Her Highness personally come to comfort us! It seems today isn’t so unlucky after all!”
“Eh? No…”
Some even woke up, realizing that it was Princess Valentina carefully tending to the people, and they couldn’t help but voice their admiration.
After all, other princes and princesses never personally looked after the citizens, so their praise was quickly echoed by those around them.
Being praised and admired by so many, even Valentina, who was used to grand occasions, felt a bit embarrassed.
She hadn’t really done anything; she had merely shown her face, and yet she received so much recognition. Was that really okay?
…Wait a minute, could it be that the evil god intentionally stirred up trouble just to have me resolve it, thereby improving my reputation among the people?
A bold thought suddenly popped into Valentina’s mind as she tended to the affected citizens.
After all, the only real victim here was the arrogant noble son.
Was it possible that he bore the blame so that she could gain a good reputation?
No, that shouldn’t be the case… but what if it were…?
The mere possibility of this made Valentina’s feelings even more complicated.
If it were true, what could be the reason behind it? Should she perhaps reconsider her attitude towards the evil god?
But asking him directly, regardless of the truth, would only lead to him mocking her as a naive fool…
Ah! Enough! What an annoying deity! How could he make her so troubled! One day, she would make him pay!
Unable to make sense of it all, Valentina pushed this troubling thought from her mind and focused intently on assisting the guards with the aftermath.
What Princess Valentina didn’t know was that Noah had been watching all of this leisurely from the side.
As an evil god, he could easily control whether others could perceive him.
He had given up on the plan to act only at night; from now on, he intended to operate during the day as well.
As for whether he bore the blame to elevate Valentina’s standing, the answer was, of course, no.
Why would he go to such lengths? He didn’t want Valentina to like him.
—
He just wanted to see the original work’s Valentina, draped in sheer fabric by the blondes—nothing more.
Originally, he planned to wait for the blondes to come out and make a fool of themselves, but now he decided not to wait any longer. He resolved to directly incite the blondes to attack Valentina.
The most theatrical one, Allen, would be saved for the most critical moment; for now, he would just find some other blonde to use.
Exactly, like that leader of the “Fury Gang,” who had easily taken down four of Valentina’s members. Noah thought that would be quite fitting.
After all, they were really quite arrogant in the original work. It would be unreasonable not to use them as tools for the female protagonist’s fall into darkness.
