Genshin Impact: Transmigrated as Liyue’s Yin-Yang Archon

Chapter 10: Purification of Wear and Tear

Right in front of Hu Tao, a small, transparent, glowing girl sat on a stone.

"Big brother, big sister, did you come to play with me?"

Hu Tao sighed, looking at the little girl with a hint of exasperation.

"Play? You should be heading to where you belong. Come with me."

With that, Hu Tao reached out to grab the girl, but Qiu Bai, leaning casually against a tree behind them, simply watched the exchange.

"But… Grandma told me to wait for her here."

"Xiaoming listened to Grandma and has been waiting here for a long, long time."

The little girl's voice was clear and innocent as she looked up at Hu Tao, who was approaching her.

"Tao Master, come here for a moment."

Qiu Bai called out to Hu Tao, still leaning against the tree.

Hu Tao turned back to him, puzzled.

Whatever, might as well hear him out. The girl in front of her had been dead for a long time, and her grandmother was probably gone too.

If Qiu Bai suddenly claimed he could bring the girl's grandmother back, Hu Tao wouldn't even question it. After seeing him teleport and perform other absurd feats, nothing surprised her anymore.

With that thought, she walked over to him.

"What is it now, Qiu Bai?"

"Don't tell me… you're going to say you can bring her grandmother back too?"

Hu Tao waved a hand, looking at him in disbelief.

Qiu Bai blinked, surprised. "How did the Tao Master know?"

"I was just about to do that."

Hu Tao froze for a moment.

"Wait, what?!"

"You're seriously telling me you can actually bring her grandmother back?"

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, she was still completely shocked. Was there anything Qiu Bai couldn't do?

"Alright, I'll just stand here and watch."

"I want to see exactly how you're going to pull this off."

She crossed her arms and fixed her gaze on him, eyes wide with anticipation.

Qiu Bai felt a little awkward. Being stared at so intently by such a pretty girl… it was a bit embarrassing.

Quickly shaking the thought away, he focused. His hands began to glow with the swirling energy of yin and yang. Under Hu Tao's astonished gaze, the energy spun rapidly before he cast a bright white light toward the little girl, infusing it into her body.

A moment later, the white light emerged from her again and returned to Qiu Bai's hands. Then, he directed the energy into the ground.

Gradually, the yin and yang energies coalesced into the figure of a kind-looking elderly woman. She smiled warmly and waved at the little girl.

As soon as she saw this, the girl immediately ran forward, throwing herself into her grandmother's embrace.

"Xiaoming, I've come to take you home. Come with Grandma."

The elderly woman's voice was gentle as she held the girl close.

"Okay! Xiaoming will listen to Grandma."

The girl beamed up at her grandmother.

The old woman then turned toward Qiu Bai and bowed deeply.

"Thank you for reuniting us."

"I will take Xiaoming to where she belongs."

With those words, the grandmother and the little girl waved goodbye to Hu Tao and Qiu Bai before their bodies slowly dissolved into shimmering light and disappeared.

Hu Tao stood there, dumbfounded.

"What… just happened?"

"How did you actually bring her grandmother back?"

She was sure she hadn't even blinked, yet Qiu Bai had made it happen just like that.

But then again, this saved her an entire night of work. If Qiu Bai could get things done so quickly, she figured she might as well have him help out more often.

"Heh, no need to be so surprised, Tao Master."

"I just know a thing or two about the ways of yin and yang. As long as I can help, that's all that matters."

Qiu Bai chuckled at her stunned expression.

Hu Tao sighed, shaking her head. "Alright, alright, we're done here. Let's head back."

She patted Qiu Bai's shoulder with a grin. "From now on, you're officially this Tao Master's friend."

Then, without hesitation, she gestured for Qiu Bai to use his "little trick" again to take her back to Liyue Harbor.

Qiu Bai looked at the ever-mischievous Hu Tao and, naturally, understood exactly what she wanted.

"Hold on tight to me."

"Got it!"

Hu Tao grabbed onto Qiu Bai's clothes with one hand, and in the next instant, the world spun around her again.

By the time she opened her eyes, they were already back at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

Looking outside, she saw that the sky was still dark, and for a moment, she struggled to process everything that had happened. Today had been nothing short of surreal.

Every time she went to Wuwang Hill, she wouldn't return until the next morning. But today? It had taken mere moments.

"Qiu Bai is truly an invaluable helper."

"Way more useful than that guy, Zhongli."

Muttering to herself, Hu Tao leaned against the window, gazing up at the moon.

Zhongli, who had been sitting in a chair, naturally overheard her. He coughed lightly in embarrassment, then shifted his gaze toward Qiu Bai.

Qiu Bai, ever perceptive, tactfully avoided meeting Zhongli's eyes.

Zhongli then turned his attention back to Hu Tao.

"Master Hu, it's getting late. You should rest."

"The Rite of Parting is the day after tomorrow. We need to make proper preparations tomorrow."

His calm voice pulled Hu Tao away from her thoughts as she stared at the moon. Honestly, sometimes Zhongli really did act like an old father figure.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it. Qiu Bai, Zhongli, you two should get some rest too."

"Ugh, I haven't had a proper break in days… Good thing Qiu Bai was around."

Yawning, she made her way to her room, throwing in a last-minute compliment for Qiu Bai before disappearing inside.

Now, only Zhongli and Qiu Bai remained in the room.

With a flick of his hand, Zhongli soundproofed the space around them.

"I have made a contract with the Tsaritsa."

"The day after tomorrow, the Fatui Harbingers, 'Childe' and 'La Signora,' will arrive in Liyue to claim the Gnosis."

Taking a sip of tea, Zhongli looked at Qiu Bai and spoke slowly.

"The Tsaritsa is seizing the authority of the gods."

"As for why, even I do not know. But whether the Gnosis exists or not will have little impact on you."

Qiu Bai walked over, picked up a teapot from the table, poured himself a cup, and took a sip.

The events of Genshin Impact were filled with too many mysteries—even as a transmigrator, there were things even he didn't fully understand.

Qiu Bai studied Zhongli for a moment, then made a decision: he would restore some of the wear and tear accumulated in his body.

A Geo Archon who had ruled for 3.700 years.

How many dear friends had passed? How many stories had unfolded to shape the Liyue of today?

Even an unshakable rock, untouched by raging storms, would eventually erode under the relentless flow of time.

Noticing Qiu Bai's prolonged gaze, Zhongli furrowed his brows slightly.

"My friend, why are you staring at me?"

"Is there something on my face?"

He raised a hand and touched his face, but there was nothing unusual. Then why was Qiu Bai looking at him like that?

Just as Zhongli found himself puzzled, Qiu Bai finally spoke.

"Morax, I want to restore the 'wear and tear' in your body."

"Relax."

The wear and tear imposed upon them by Celestia… could it really be undone?

Zhongli was about to say something, but when he saw the unwavering seriousness in Qiu Bai's eyes, he hesitated—then relented, anticipation flickering in his gaze.

Could it truly be possible to restore what time had worn away?

"...I'll leave it to you, my friend."

Relaxing his body, Zhongli slowly closed his eyes.

Qiu Bai channeled Yang energy into Zhongli, and at that moment, he felt a gentle breeze—like standing atop the peaks of Jueyun Karst, clear and serene.

Memories resurfaced with newfound clarity, layers of the past overlapping in his mind.

Yet, instead of feeling burdened, Zhongli found himself savoring the experience, embracing the memories he had long held within.

As time passed, Qiu Bai gradually lowered his hand, and Zhongli slowly opened his eyes once more.
