Genshin Impact: The Crit Archon

Chapter 44: The Chalk Prince And The Dragon Part 1

Aether looked at Rosaria. "You want me too do what again"

Rosaria looked at Aether. "Albedo, I want you too keep and eyes on him"

Aether looked at Rosaria. "What is this my mission"

Rosaria looked at him. "As a member of Shadow Guard, this is a order Aether"

Aether looked at him. "Fine but I am talking Issei with me, anymore Information about my mission"

Rosaria looked at him. "Not much, just keep an eye on the Alchemist"

Aether sighed, as he left Paimon sighed, as then he stopped outside, as the Crit System activeted, as he relsihes the System is giving him a mission, it has been w while sense he got a new Mission.

[ New mission has been unlock ]

Aether looked at reg Golden Yellow screen of the Crit system, he then looked at Paimon before once again remembering that he is the only one that can see the system, but for some 'reason' Paimon looked away almost like she can see the system.

Aether tilted his head at Paimon's strange reaction, noticing her unusual shift in attention. "Paimon, everything okay?" he asked with curiosity.

Paimon looked back at him, blinking as if she'd been caught off guard. "Of course, Aether! Just... thought I saw something, that's all." She waved it off with a forced smile, but Aether noticed a slight nervousness in her voice.

Deciding to brush it off for now, Aether glanced at the golden text floating in his vision:

[ Mission: Observe and Uncover

Objective: Observe the alchemist Albedo closely and uncover any secrets or unusual behaviour he may display. Ensure his actions do not threaten Mondstadt ]

Rewards: Special crit effect bonus and potential new abilities.

Paimon noticed him focusing on something in the air and tilted her head. "Earth to Aether? You got that look on your face again!"

He snapped back to reality and grinned at her. "Let's just say I've got my orders and my own mission on top of that."

As he walked toward Albedo's lab on Dragonspine, Issei joined up with him, stretching his arms and preparing for their task. "So, we're keeping an eye on some alchemist dude? Seems pretty tame. What's so special about him?"

Aether shrugged. "Rosaria seems to think there's something about Albedo that's worth our attention. You know, alchemists can be unpredictable..."

As they reached the edge of Dragonspine, the cold hit them in full force, the chill biting through their clothes. But Aether felt a strange sense of energy around him, almost as if something was watching from the snow-covered cliffs.

Eventually, they arrived at Albedo's makeshift camp, where he was carefully working on a set of vials, deep in concentration. Noticing their presence, he looked up and gave a polite nod.

"Aether, Issei. It's good to see you here," Albedo said calmly. "Is there something I can help you with?"

Aether thought quickly, opting for a friendly approach. "Just thought we'd come and see how things were going. Anything interesting going on?"

Albedo's eyes narrowed slightly, but he maintained his usual calm demeanour. "I am studying the effects of elemental energy on Dragonspine's unique flora. This mountain holds many mysteries, some of which can be... dangerous if mishandled."

Issei, who had been quiet up until now, raised an eyebrow. "Dangerous, huh? Like what?"

Albedo looked away, eyes distant. "There's something here… something ancient and powerful. I would advise you both to be cautious."

Issei then looked at Sword floating in the air. "Is that a sword"

[ Insert Image of Festering Desire ]

Albedo looked at them and looked at the sword. "Yes, something I am working on, also don't get me wrong I didn't make this sword".

Aether and Issei both took a step closer to the floating sword, examining it closely. The weapon had an unusual aura, with dark, twisted markings along the blade that seemed to pulse faintly, as if alive. Its design was nothing like the standard swords of Mondstadt, and a peculiar energy emanated from it.

Issei glanced over at Albedo, still keeping an eye on the weapon. "If you didn't make it, then where did it come from?"

Albedo sighed, his gaze lingering on the sword. "This sword, the Festering Desire, was something I discovered here in Dragonspine. It holds a unique energy—one that I've been trying to understand. But there's something... dark about it. Something that almost seems to have a will of its own."

Aether reached out, feeling the energy emanating from the sword, almost like it was calling to him. "So what exactly are you trying to do with it?"

Albedo's expression turned thoughtful. "My goal is to unlock its secrets. If I can harness its energy, perhaps we can use it to gain a better understanding of the elemental forces that exist within Dragonspine. But…" he hesitated, "this is not a weapon to wield carelessly. It may grant power, but it also feeds on its user. I wouldn't recommend handling it without proper caution."

Issei raised an eyebrow. "So, you're saying this thing could… corrupt someone?"

Albedo nodded slowly. "Exactly. It's both a gift and a curse. That's why I've been keeping it isolated, trying to understand its nature before allowing anyone to use it."

Aether exchanged a glance with Issei. There was something more to this sword than Albedo was letting on, but Aether could sense that the alchemist was still trying to puzzle it out himself.

Issei then grabbed the sword in sheer recklessness. "I can handle this, right, Ddraig?"

Ddraig from Issei's Pyro Vision then spoke, "Hell yeah, partner!"

A huge blast of energy erupted from the sword, reacting to Ddraig's energy in the Pyro Vision. Aether quickly punched Issei in the head, causing him to fall into the snow, his face hitting the ground with a thud as Aether huffed.

Aether looked at him, annoyance etched on his face. "Why of all the people in Shadow Guard did you think bringing your was a good idea?"

Issei grinned up from the snow, rubbing his head where Aether had punched him. "Come on, Aether! You know I'm the best choice if something dangerous needs a good thumping."

Aether shook his head with an exasperated sigh, glancing at the Festering Desire still faintly pulsing with energy. "And that 'good thumping' nearly got you burned. Albedo warned us, but no—you had to grab it right after he said it was dangerous."

Issei shrugged, looking down at his hand that had held the sword. "What's a little risk if it means power, right?" He grinned, but Aether could see a slight shiver pass through him, as if the energy from the sword had left an unsettling effect.

Ddraig's voice echoed from Issei's Pyro Vision. "Aether has a point, partner. That sword's energy was… strange. It's not the kind of power you want just floating around in your system."

Albedo, watching them, folded his arms thoughtfully. "Aether, I'm impressed by your quick reaction. It seems you understand caution better than some." He directed a pointed look at Issei.

"Don't worry about me, Albedo," Issei replied, dusting off the snow. "But it was an interesting feeling… like it was waking something inside me."

Aether raised an eyebrow, noticing Issei's usual energy seemed slightly… changed, like a shadow lingering around him. "Just don't go grabbing random cursed objects again. We're supposed to observe and report, not… get possessed."

Albedo looked between the two of them, the glint of curiosity in his eyes. "This sword's reaction to your Pyro Vision was… unexpected. It seems to connect deeply with the user's energy type. I may have to experiment further."

Aether held up a hand, stopping him. "Before we turn this into a full-blown experiment, let's remember we're here to keep an eye on things, not awaken any strange curses."

Issei shrugged, grinning. "Fine, fine. But that sword's not gonna sit there forever. Let's just say if it ever needs a wielder, I call dibs."

Suddenly, the surroundings darkened as an ominous presence loomed closer, drawing their attention. Aether's instincts kicked in, and he tightened his grip on his weapon. "Something's not right. We need to be on guard."

Albedo nodded, his expression serious. "Agreed. We need to prepare for whatever may come next."

As the shadows deepened, Aether felt a familiar weight in the air, the kind that usually preceded danger. "Issei, keep your distance from that sword for now. We don't know what it might attract."

With a determined nod, Issei stepped back, his expression shifting from playful to focused. "Got it. Let's show whatever it is that we're not backing down."

The tension built in the air as they awaited the source of the dark energy, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As then ominous shadows thickened around them, Aether, Issei, and Albedo prepared for the unknown threat that loomed in the distance. The air grew colder, and a palpable tension filled the atmosphere.

"Stay alert, everyone," Aether commanded, his eyes scanning their surroundings. "Whatever is out there might be tied to Albedo's research."

Suddenly, a dark figure emerged from the shadows, revealing itself to be a Cryo Abyss Mage, its presence radiating an icy aura.

"Just what we need," Aether muttered. "Issei, get ready!"

Issei nodded, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he summoned Ddraig's power. "Time to show this icy creep what a real fighter can do!"

The Cryo Abyss Mage raised its staff, conjuring a swirling vortex of frost. "You dare challenge the abyss?" it hissed, launching a wave of icy shards toward them.

Aether swiftly dodged to the side, his Crit System activating as he unsheathed his sword, its blade glinting with the wind's energy. "[Crit System activated! Wind Blade has been activated.]"

He charged forward, using the wind to propel himself. "Let's see how it handles this!" He slashed at the icy shards, dispersing them into harmless particles as he closed the distance.

Issei joined the fray, drawing on Ddraig's power. "Let's heat things up! Fire!" A torrent of flames erupted from his Pyro Vision, colliding with the Cryo Mage's frost, creating a massive explosion of steam and smoke.

"Now's our chance!" Albedo shouted, taking advantage of the distraction. He summoned his Geo constructs, forming a shield to protect them from the residual energy. "Aether, now!"

Aether lunged at the Cryo Abyss Mage, wind swirling around him. "Wind Blade!" His sword sliced through the air, striking the Mage with immense force. The creature staggered, its icy aura flickering.

"Not bad, Aether," Issei called out. "But let's finish this!" He summoned another wave of fire, launching it at the Abyss Mage.

Just as the flames neared the Mage, it regained its composure, summoning a shield of ice. "Foolish mortals!" it screeched, absorbing the flames and redirecting them as shards aimed at Aether and Issei.

"Watch out!" Aether shouted, instinctively pushing Issei aside as he slashed at the incoming shards. The force of the collision sent him stumbling backward.

"Enough of this!" Albedo shouted, focusing his energy. "Geo!" He summoned a large boulder from the ground, hurling it at the Abyss Mage. The impact shattered its icy defenses, leaving it vulnerable.

With a surge of energy, Aether took the opportunity. "Now! Wind Blade!" He unleashed a powerful strike, and with the combined efforts of Issei's flames and Albedo's constructs, the Cryo Abyss Mage was overwhelmed.

The Mage let out a final, chilling scream before exploding into a flurry of dark energy and icy shards that scattered into the air. A moment of silence followed, the battlefield temporarily calm.

"Is everyone alright?" Aether asked, panting from exertion.

"Yeah, just a little singed," Issei replied, brushing off the remnants of ice and snow from his shoulders.

Albedo examined the area. "This was merely a distraction. There's something greater at play here—something connected to the Festering Desire."

Aether nodded, recalling their earlier encounter with the sword. "We need to find out what's causing these Abyss Mages to gather. If they're drawn to the sword, there must be something about it that connects to the Abyss."

As they regrouped, the wind carried a faint echo through the trees. Aether squinted, recognizing a familiar voice. "That sounds like Rosaria!"

"Let's move!" Albedo urged, leading the way through the forest as they followed the sound.

They soon found Rosaria standing over another Abyss Mage, her lance piercing its form. "You're late," she remarked coolly, wiping the blade of her weapon.

"Sorry, we had a little detour," Aether said, gesturing toward the remnants of the earlier battle. "It seems the Abyss is getting more aggressive."

Rosaria nodded, her expression serious. "The Abyss Order has been sighted throughout the region, and I believe it's linked to a deeper issue. We need to figure out what they're planning."

Just then, a blizzard swept through the area, the winds howling ominously. Aether felt a shiver run down his spine. "It's like the storm is coming from the mountain," he said, looking toward the peak of Dragonspine.

"That would be the location of the final confrontation," Albedo explained. "If the Abyss Order is after the power of the Festering Desire, we must reach the mountain before they do."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Issei exclaimed, excitement in his eyes.

The group hurried toward the mountain, determination fueling their steps. Aether's mind raced with possibilities. What awaited them at the top of Dragonspine? Would they uncover the truth behind the Abyss Order's plans, or would they find themselves facing a far greater threat?

As they approached the mountain's base, the wind picked up, carrying a haunting melody that echoed through the cold air. It felt as if the mountain itself was calling to them, urging them to uncover its secrets.

"Stay sharp," Aether warned, gripping his sword tightly. "We're in for a fight."

With their resolve set, the group began their ascent, unaware of the trials and tribulations that lay ahead. The shadows of the Abyss were gathering, and soon, they would have to confront not only their enemies but also the darkness within themselves.
