Chapter 49: Death of Dotore, Uneasy Thunder

"Shouldn't I say something cooler right now?" Su Ran mused to himself. If this were the modern world, his words might come off as a bit childish. But this was Genshin Impact's world, and Inazuma was still somewhat traditional. Perhaps his words would sound more impressive here.

Su Ran looked at Dotore and the group of Fatui agents standing bewildered behind him. The soldiers in the castle tower had also noticed the arrival of the Fatui and had quickly formed up, ready to act. Any army inside the castle tower would be executed immediately if necessary. Su Ran, who had frequently visited the tower recently, naturally didn't draw much suspicion from the soldiers. Compared to the Fatui standing in front of him, Su Ran was far more trustworthy.

"It's a pity that I'm not at my strongest right now, or else things might have been different," Dotore remarked, having already gauged the situation. He knew he wasn't facing Su Ran at full strength, but even at this level, Dotore had no chance of winning. The difference in power between them was far too great, and this was Su Ran's domain.

"It doesn't matter how many of you there are. The gap in power is too vast. Even if you gathered all of your slices, you still wouldn't be a match for me," Su Ran stated confidently.

Although Dotore was a tricky opponent, in this dream world, the most dangerous part of him—his most selfish slice—didn't exist. Su Ran had little reason to worry about Dotore interfering with his plans.

"I can see you're even more arrogant than I am," Dotore said, "but I may never live to see the day you pay for that arrogance."

He had already accepted his fate. Dotore had witnessed the power Su Ran wielded, power that surpassed anything he had ever encountered. He couldn't help but wonder if even the combined divine strength of the Tsaritsa could rival Su Ran's energy.

"Let's end this," Su Ran said as he raised his hand. Dotore had stopped resisting, and there was no need for further discussion. The energy in Su Ran's hand—equivalent to ten of Raiden Shogun's most powerful strikes—formed into countless thorns that quickly wrapped around Dotore's consciousness.

Before his demise, Dotore tried to analyze the strength of the energy surrounding him, but his efforts were in vain. His consciousness was completely erased.

Back in the real world, the physical body of that slice of Dotore also fell into a state of unconscious death. Even though his body continued functioning for a while, there was no possibility of revival for this version of Dotore, even if the dream ended.

To Su Ran, dealing with this slice of Dotore wasn't even a challenge. It was easier than fighting the Raiden Shogun. The battle had been one-sided and quick.

The remaining Fatui agents, having witnessed Dotore's death firsthand, stood in stunned silence. They had watched their leader fall at the hands of a genius, and now, unsure of what to do, they stood frozen in confusion.

"Retreat. You still have a mission to complete. Are you planning to mourn Dotore's death here?" Su Ran said, turning to them. He had no intention of fighting the Fatui. In fact, he wanted them to carry out their plans—though he would wait until the Traveler arrived before taking any action.

"This... Genius, we don't have any missions at the moment," a woman hiding among the mirrors said, stepping forward cautiously when no one else dared to speak.

"Then continue lurking and wait for the storm to come!" Su Ran commanded.

The woman paused. Do you really have to say it so loudly, sir? she thought, noticing the Inazuman soldiers eyeing them suspiciously.

"Yes!" she responded quickly, and the Fatui, feeling the weight of the soldiers' gazes, began retreating from the castle tower. However, they couldn't escape the notice of the Inazuma forces.

The sudden gathering of soldiers from a foreign nation at the residence of the gods had raised alarm. The Tenryou Commission would not ignore this, and the Okuji people guarding the castle tower were also on high alert. While Raiden Shogun might overlook some things, Kujo Sara would likely take steps to reorganize the soldiers of the Tenryou Commission after this event.

Once the Fatui had retreated, Su Ran turned around, his expression calm, as if nothing had happened. He walked into the castle tower, under the watchful eyes of the Okuji people.

"What should we do? Should we arrest this person, who seems connected to the Fatui? Or should we wait for the general's decision?" one of the soldiers whispered.

Just then, Raiden Shogun herself, who had left the tower earlier, returned, drawn by the commotion.

"What happened here?" she asked, surveying the scene of the Okuji soldiers stationed at the door.

"General, Mr. Su Ran just killed a Fatui diplomat," one of the soldiers reported. They couldn't hide anything from her; she was their leader.

"And what else?" the Shogun asked.

"He instructed the Fatui to continue lurking and wait for the storm to come."

The soldiers found Su Ran's words suspicious, even malicious, but they couldn't do anything without the general's order. They also knew Su Ran had some kind of unclear relationship with the Shogun.

"Continue guarding the castle tower," Raiden Shogun said calmly. She showed no interest in Su Ran's actions and quickly left to resume her study of eternity. This dream was essential to her pursuit of eternal perfection.

The soldiers, seeing the general's indifferent response, let their guard down around Su Ran. If even the general had no concerns, they didn't need to waste their energy on needless vigilance.

Up on the upper floors of the castle tower, Zhen and Ying had watched the scene unfold. Ying, especially, had felt uneasy witnessing Su Ran completely destroy Dotore.

"Didn't they say there's no death in dreams?" Ying asked, her voice shaky. "There's supposed to be no birth, aging, sickness, or death in dreams. How did someone die?"

"This doesn't bode well for eternity."

"Ying, don't forget who created this dream. What's the harm in him having a little privilege?" Zhen responded. She was exhausted by her sister's naivety. How could Ying still be so panicked over something so small? Didn't she understand that this dream belonged to Su Ran, not to ?
