Chapter 399: Chapter 399: The Deep Palace's Plume (2-in-1 Chapter)
"Hey, Kokomi!" Paimon waved cheerfully as she greeted her. With a bright smile, she continued, "Since we're here, of course, we're bringing good news!"
"Really? Does that mean the General has agreed to abolish the Vision Hunt Decree? What were the conditions?"
Kokomi's fair face lit up with delight.
"There were no conditions! This guy here has already taken care of everything," Paimon said, pointing at Nolan.
"Oh? Mr. Nolan, what exactly happened?" Kokomi blinked her beautiful eyes curiously and looked at him.
"I'll let Paimon explain. It's not that big of a deal, really," Nolan replied with a gentle smile.
Seeing his smug demeanor, Lumine gave him a sidelong glance, clearly unimpressed.
"Alright then, let's talk as we walk," Kokomi suggested, folding her arms and nodding.
Her folded arms pressed against the large ribbon on her chest, keeping it from bouncing as she walked.
As they entered the Sangonomiya Shrine, Kokomi quickly grasped the situation. She had only asked Nolan and the others to subtly gauge Raiden Shogun's stance on abolishing the Vision Hunt Decree during their meeting.
But to her surprise, he had managed to convince the Shogun to abolish it outright!
It was beyond her expectations, but considering it was the renowned Traveler and their companions, it wasn't entirely shocking.
"That's wonderful! Everyone can finally see a glimmer of peace. Thank you so much, Travelers!"
Kokomi gently placed a hand on her chest, visibly relieved by the good news. Her gratitude towards Nolan and the others grew immensely.
After all, they were the key figures who had brought peace to everyone.
[Kokomi Has Developed Good Feelings Toward You. Obtained 460 Affection Points. Current Affection Level: Lv.5 (460/500).]
"Hehe, it's no big deal!" Paimon said proudly, patting her chest.
Nolan gave her an exasperated look. Clearly, he was the one who did all the work, but she was acting as if it were her accomplishment.
"Hey, what's with that look? Paimon was supporting you spiritually, okay?" Paimon said indignantly, hands on her hips, as she noticed his gaze.
"Ah, yes, yes, thank you for your spiritual support, Paimon," Nolan replied, choosing not to argue.
Lumine, brushing her golden hair aside, rubbed her forehead, ignoring the two fools. Instead, she casually asked Kokomi, "Are Beidou and Kazuha not in Sangonomiya?"
"Mm, although we've shifted to a defensive stance on Watatsumi Island and are trying to avoid conflict with the Shogunate army, we still need adequate supplies in case of a large-scale attack. Beidou and Kazuha have gone to procure those supplies," Kokomi explained briefly.
"I see."
Nolan and the others nodded in understanding.
After informing Kokomi about the abolishment of the Vision Hunt Decree, the group lingered for a bit, chatting and sharing a meal before preparing to leave.
Just as they were about to depart, Kokomi asked them to wait. A short while later, she returned with a golden artifact named the "Deep Palace's Plume" as a token of gratitude.
This unexpected gift delighted Nolan and his companions. It seemed Kokomi, much like Yae Miko, was quite generous!
Receiving such a gift from a good friend, Nolan accepted it without hesitation. Showing even a hint of reluctance would have been disrespectful to Kokomi!
"You're unbelievable!" Lumine and Paimon looked at Nolan with disdain.
"Hehe, as long as Mr. Nolan likes it," Kokomi said with a soft laugh. She found Nolan to be a reliable and sincere person most of the time, though occasionally he revealed a humorous side like now.
"It's about time. We'll be off now. For the time being, we'll be staying in Inazuma as adventurers. Kokomi, if there's anything you need help with, don't hesitate to call on us!"
Before leaving, Paimon made the offer enthusiastically.
"Of course. Even if there's no urgent request, feel free to visit Sangonomiya anytime. I'll prepare a feast to welcome you," Kokomi replied warmly.
Both personally and strategically, Kokomi was keen to maintain a good relationship with these skilled Travelers.
If Watatsumi Island ever faced an insurmountable challenge, perhaps the Travelers alone could turn the tide with ease.

Inazuma City
With Nolan now working for the Shogun and Lumine planning to stay in Inazuma for a while, they decided it was best to rent a small house in the city as a base of operations.
Lumine would take on commissions from the Adventurers' Guild, search for treasures, and, most importantly, look for clues about her brother. She also intended to train and regain her strength as quickly as possible.
Although Nolan had access to his "Wonderland" and technically didn't need to rent a house, he decided to go along with the plan.
He did this mainly because he considered that, over time, as he stayed in Inazuma, he would inevitably make some friends. When those friends came over to visit, he couldn't just casually invite them into the "Wonderland," could he?
That would be far too conspicuous. Renting a normal place would appear less ostentatious.
Moreover, he regarded the Wonderland as a secret base—an absolutely safe space in his mind. Other than himself and those he was very close to, no one else could be allowed to enter.
Anyway, after receiving a 10 million Mora commission from the Kamisato family, they weren't exactly strapped for cash.
Lumine and Paimon thought it over briefly and agreed that it made sense.
As for where to rent a house in a completely unfamiliar city that would meet their needs, naturally, they decided to consult their guide, Yoimiya!
However, it was already late in the evening, and it didn't seem right to bother her at this hour. It would be better to handle this tomorrow.
Besides, there was no rush to settle the housing matter.
After finalizing their plans, Nolan and the others returned to the Wonderland to rest. They also wanted to check if the addition of the golden artifact, "Deep Palace's Plume," had caused any changes in the space.
First, the ground area had expanded by another square meter, bringing the total to 135 square meters.
Next, a new space trait had been unlocked:
[The Golden Treasury has successfully acquired the rare artifact "Deep Palace's Plume." New trait unlocked: "Submersion"—improves sleep quality and enhances physical recovery during sleep within the Golden Treasury space.]
Hmm… this trait seemed fairly ordinary, but it wasn't entirely without merit.
He couldn't help but wonder: to unlock more powerful space traits, would they need to acquire even rarer artifacts?
Since there were only two traits for now, it wasn't enough to draw a conclusion.
---
"Ah, finally back. Even though we didn't go adventuring today, it still feels so tiring," Paimon groaned, her arms drooping as if someone had grabbed her by the collar and hung her in midair.
Lumine nodded in agreement.
"Well, waiting anxiously at the Grand Narukami Shrine for news is mentally exhausting, isn't it? Thank you both for your hard work."
Nolan took Lumine's hand, pulled her close, and kissed her on the lips.
"Hey! You two! Paimon's still here, you know!" Paimon looked at the two of them being lovey-dovey and sighed helplessly before flying off.
She decided to head to the second-floor research area to check on the plants and flowers that Sucrose had been cultivating.
Meanwhile, Nolan and Lumine, lost in their kiss, slowly moved toward a nearby room. Before long, they reached the wooden door, and with a gentle twist, it opened.
However, neither of them noticed that the room they entered wasn't theirs.
---
"Oh my, little adventurers and cutie pie. How did you end up kissing your way into my room? Were you planning to invite me to join you?"
Lisa, freshly showered and dressed in loose-fitting pajamas that revealed a hint of her chest, smiled slyly as she teased them.
Realizing their mistake, Lumine's face turned slightly red, and she instinctively tried to pull Nolan out of the room. But to her surprise, he didn't budge.
"Click."
Nolan closed the door behind them, still holding Lumine. With a light chuckle, he walked toward Lisa and said,
"I think Lisa's suggestion sounds pretty good."
---
The Next Morning
Nolan and Lumine woke up in Lisa's bed. They had gone to sleep early the night before, and after putting in some effort, they successfully helped Lisa achieve her Level 80 ascension breakthrough.
Coincidentally, she even managed to reach Level 81.
Lumine, who had already completed her Level 80 breakthrough earlier, also benefited from the harmonious energy in the room, advancing to Level 81 with ease.
Since Nolan had to report to work at Tenshukaku later that day, he didn't linger in bed with the two girls.
When he entered the living room, he found Mona having breakfast alone. The others had likely gone off to work, as it was already past 7 a.m.
"You're awake. There's porridge in the kitchen; help yourself," Mona said, her face slightly flushed. She was still in her sleepwear, her hair messy from just getting up.
Her mind wandered to last night's "noisy" activities, which had made it nearly impossible for anyone to sleep.
Yet, strangely enough, despite the late night, she woke up feeling refreshed. Her sleep quality had been surprisingly good, and she didn't experience the usual grogginess of a sleepless night.
Seeing Mona's flustered and shy expression, Nolan felt the mischievous urge to tease her.
He smiled faintly, walked around the dining table, and sat beside Mona on the same wooden chair with a backrest. Then, he wrapped his arm around her soft waist.
"Ah! What are you doing?" Mona's face turned even redder.
"Nothing much. I'm just feeling a little lazy to get porridge for myself, so I thought I'd share your bowl instead."
Nolan gently lifted Mona, placing her entirely on his lap. As he enjoyed the soft sensation of her sitting on him, he leaned his face close to hers, pressing his cheek against hers, and aimed for the corner of her lips, which still had a grain of rice stuck on them.
"—Mmph! You scoundrel!"
Mona turned her head to try and avoid him, but her lips were still caught.
Annoyed, she pinched the side of Nolan's leg, and even stretched out her soft, pale foot from her slipper to step on his.
Hmph.
Of course, Nolan wouldn't let her have her way. He quickly pinned Mona's legs in place to stop her from moving and slid his right hand under the hem of her white short-sleeve shirt, lightly stroking her soft belly.
Occasionally, his fingers traced little circles around her navel.
Mona was so embarrassed that tears welled up in her eyes. Finally, in desperation, she instinctively resorted to mimicking Jean's signature move—trying to bite him. Only then did Nolan move his mouth away quickly.
"You… you scoundrel! Let me go already!" Mona glared at him, her teeth gritted in frustration.
"Let me hold you for a little longer. Once you finish your breakfast, I'll let you go, okay?" Nolan shook his head and smiled warmly.
"Jerk!"
Despite her annoyance, Mona had no choice but to continue eating her breakfast, pretending that Nolan didn't exist. Hmph! She decided to imagine herself as sitting on a sofa named "Nolan."
With that thought in mind, she picked up the bowl of porridge on the table and took a big bite.
Her plan was simple: finish breakfast as quickly as possible so she could escape this jerk's clutches!
But just as she was eating, the jerk holding her suddenly leaned in again to kiss her. This time, she hadn't even swallowed her food yet! Mmph!
---
After finishing the bowl of porridge with Mona, Nolan left the Wonderland and headed to Tenshukaku. If he delayed any longer, he'd be late, and upsetting Ei wasn't a good idea.
As for Mona, while she had struggled and resisted during his teasing, deep down, her feelings for him had grown a little stronger.
[Mona Has Developed Good Feelings Toward You. Obtained 290 Affection Points. Current Affection Level: Lv. 9 (500/900).]
Hmm, only 400 points left until max level. I wonder what kind of affection ability Mona will unlock? Could it be something related to astrology?
As Nolan pondered, he suddenly overheard townsfolk on the street excitedly discussing the Shogun's abolition of the "Vision Hunt Decree."
It had already been officially announced? That was fast. As expected of the ever-efficient Shogun. She had made the promise yesterday morning, convened the Tri-Commission by the afternoon, and announced the decision today.
In addition to the Vision Hunt Decree, the Shogun had also abolished the "Sakoku Decree."
The Sakoku Decree complemented the Vision Hunt Decree, serving not only to prevent Inazuman citizens from leaving the nation freely but also to limit the influx of foreigners, reducing "variables" that could disrupt eternity.
Yesterday, the Shogun had only agreed to abolish the Vision Hunt Decree, but now she had removed the Sakoku Decree as well. Perhaps she felt that once the Vision Hunt Decree was gone, the Sakoku Decree was unnecessary.
After all, both decrees had been heavily influenced by the Fatui's manipulations. Now that the Shogun had a better plan for achieving eternity, abolishing them made sense.
Seeing the excitement and joy on the faces of the people he passed, Nolan couldn't help but feel a sense of elation himself.
---
Before long, he arrived at the Statue of the Omnipresent near Tenshukaku.
Those who had their Visions confiscated and had caught wind of the announcement had already gathered here early, eager to reclaim their Visions.
The Visions were embedded in the statue, and removing them was straightforward.
Previously, with the Shogunate soldiers constantly guarding the area, no one dared approach. Now that there were no restrictions, they rushed to retrieve them without hesitation.
Watching those who, upon reclaiming their Visions, were overcome with emotion and reminded of their "wishes," Nolan couldn't help but feel a subtle sense of poignancy.
Unable to bear the sight for long, he quickened his pace and entered Tenshukaku.
