Genshin Impact : I became a Traveler?

Chapter 10: Adventurers’ Guild And 10 S-Rank Adventurers

Maybe someone didn't read it or forgot about it, so I'll put it here.

I want to write more about the Adventurers' Guild.

Honestly, the potential of the Adventurers' Guild is truly wasted. By the time we reach Natlan, only two playable characters are known to be part of the Guild—Bennett and Fischl. Moreover, neither of them plays a significant role in Genshin Impact's lore.

Hopefully, in Patch 6, the Adventurers' Guild will have a more important role. For certain reasons, the Guild can actually be considered a Faction. Even though its headquarters is in Snezhnaya, the Adventurers' Guild has no connection to the Fatui at all.

In conclusion, I want to add some original characters. However, calling them "original characters" isn't entirely accurate, as they will have names similar to characters from other anime. The reason for this is that I'm not very good at naming things.

----------------------------------------------

As they made their way to the Adventurers' Guild, many people greeted Aether and expressed their gratitude by giving him various items—fruits, vegetables, food, and even flowers. A journey that should have taken 10 minutes ended up taking 20 minutes before they finally arrived at the Adventurers' Guild.

Unlike in games, where the guild looks like a simple food stall with Katheryne standing there waiting for the Traveler to complete their daily quests, the Adventurers' Guild in this world is a three-story building. The first floor serves as a hall where the reception desk is located, and missions are posted. The second and third floors function as an inn specifically for adventurers.

Although most adventurers come from Mondstadt, many from other regions also visit Mondstadt to take on missions. Of course, this special lodging is not free, but it is cheaper than regular inns.

Additionally, unlike Adventurers' Guilds in other worlds, which are often associated with bars or taverns, the Adventurers' Guild in the continent of Teyvat does not have such establishments.

As they entered the Adventurers' Guild, the trio once again became the center of attention. However, unlike the townspeople, these adventurers did not want to risk making Lisa angry.

Since their work frequently involved the Knights of Favonius, and with Lisa currently wearing a smiling expression that made them shudder, they knew better than to cause trouble.

'Traveler, you can register as an adventurer with Katheryne,' Lisa said.

Aether nodded and walked toward Katheryne, while Lisa looked for a place to sit and Paimon curiously examined the surroundings.

Katheryne was a woman with black hair and bangs, and she had grayish-blue eyes. Having played Genshin Impact up to the Inazuma region, he had met this woman countless times.

He had also accidentally discovered—while browsing Wikipedia—that Katheryne was some sort of robot or similar entity.

Not only that, but he also learned that the main headquarters of the Adventurers' Guild was located in Snezhnaya. However, he still decided to join since the Adventurers' Guild had no connection to the Fatui.

'Ad Astra Abyssosque, welcome to the Adventurers' Guild.'

'Finally, you have arrived at this place, Traveler.'

 'You recognize me?'

'Yes, in fact, I have been observing you since you fought Stormterror.'

'Oh?'

'Please don't misunderstand, Traveler. I mean no harm.'

'Then explain.'

Katheryne nodded.

'Apart from being a receptionist, I am also responsible for scouting individuals with potential to become adventurers.'

'When I saw you fight Stormterror, I was convinced that you were suited to become a great adventurer.'

'So I decided to invite you to join the Adventurers' Guild. In fact, even if you hadn't come here today, I would have sent someone to invite you to the guild.'

'If I join, will the Guild force missions onto me?'

'No. However, there may be clients who specifically request you to complete a mission. You are free to accept or decline them.'

'Alright, I'll join,' Aether said.

'Would you not like to know the benefits of joining the Adventurers' Guild first?'

'It's fine. I already know most of them.'

Katheryne nodded.

'Then I will explain the ranking system for adventurers.'

Aether nodded.

'There are five ranks in the Adventurer's Rank: D, C, B, A, and S.'

'D is the lowest rank, while S is the highest.'

'Currently, there are only nine S-rank adventurers across all of Teyvat. One of them is from Mondstadt—Miss Alice.'

'Alice… Is that the same Alice I know?' he wondered, but before he could think further, Katheryne continued speaking.

'And you will be the tenth, Traveler.'

'Wait, straight to S-rank?' Aether asked in surprise.

'I didn't even know something like this existed, since it doesn't seem to be in the game,' he thought.

'Normally, every adventurer must start from rank D. However, due to the incredible strength you demonstrated when fighting Stormterror—'

'Both the Mondstadt branch and the central headquarters of the Adventurers' Guild, upon receiving this information, decided that you should immediately be granted S-rank upon registration.'

'That's quite unexpected.'

'This is your proof of S-rank status, Traveler, as well as your adventurer's handbook.'

Aether took both items, and he heard a familiar voice, but he decided to check it later.

He examined the S-rank proof—it was a gold-colored identification card. His name, Aether, was written on it, along with a photo that he had no idea when it was taken.

Aether then stored it in his bracelet. He didn't think too much about the card, even though his name was written on it. In his mind, even if it said 'Aether,' people would still call him 'Traveler' anyway.

But what Aether didn't know was that there was another reason behind the name written on his S-Rank identification card.

He then opened the adventurer's handbook, which wasn't too thick. However, upon opening it, he was surprised to find that this book was a fusion of technology and magic.

He had no idea what types of magic were imbued into this book, but one of them was definitely time-based magic—because it displayed a real-time clock.

Not only that, but the information and missions were also updated in real time, not just for Mondstadt but for all regions.

'You must have realized it by now, Traveler. The S-Rank adventurer's handbook is something special.'

'Unlike the handbooks for Ranks D to A, where adventurers have to manually update gathered information at the Adventurers' Guild—'

'The S-Rank handbook continuously updates itself in real time, both for information and missions. Additionally, you don't need to report to the guild to accept missions.'

'As for the rewards, however, you still have to collect them manually since the headquarters has yet to figure out how to teleport objects.'

'Honestly, I'm quite surprised,' Aether said.

'And this is a gift for joining the guild, as well as a reward for reaching S-Rank.'

Katheryne handed Aether a box, which he stored in his bracelet along with his S-Rank handbook.

'Then, welcome to the Adventurers' Guild, Traveler.'

'Ad Astra Abyssosque. Adventurer, with enough effort, you can reach the stars and conquer the Abyss!'

Aether nodded before turning back to where Lisa and Paimon were. There, he saw three new people—more precisely, two humans and an elemental being.

They were none other than Bennett, Fischl (Amy), and Oz.

Bennett was about 165 cm tall, with light brown skin, gray hair, and light green eyes. His arms bore numerous scars and bandages.

Fischl was approximately 160 cm tall, with fair skin, long blonde hair, and light green eyes. She also wore an eyepatch over her left eye.

Oz, on the other hand, was a purple raven.

'Traveler, they wanted to meet you,' Paimon said.

'Hello! My name is Bennett, leader of Benny's Adventure Team. Nice to meet you, Hero of Mondstadt!'

'My name is Fischl, Prinzessin der Verurteilung. Your actions in the face of calamity were truly admirable. Had you not taken action at that time, I would have stepped forth myself. But the destruction that would have followed would have been far worse. Therefore, this princess extends her gratitude.'

'What she means is—the princess is grateful for your efforts in protecting Mondstadt and fighting Stormterror. If you hadn't acted, the damage to Mondstadt would have been far worse than it is now,' Oz translated.

Aether glanced at Fischl strangely. He was, of course, familiar with people who acted like chuunibyou. He had seen them before—but only in anime. This was his first time meeting someone like that in real life.

One thought crossed Aether's mind: he should try not to interact with her too much. Not because he disliked Fischl, but because every sentence she spoke would give him a headache. And the author, too, was struggling to write chuunibyou dialogue.

'I'm Aether. You can call me by that name. Bennett and, um… Fischl?'

'Alright, Traveler!' Bennett said, giving a thumbs-up.

'This princess grants you permission to address me directly, and I shall also call you by your name, fellow wanderer from another world.'

'What she means is—the princess agrees to call you Traveler,' Oz translated.

Aether, Paimon, Lisa, Bennett, Fischl, and Oz continued chatting about various topics. They talked about Bennett's constant misfortune and how his rank in the guild was B-rank.

They also discussed Fischl's role as an investigator for the Mondstadt branch of the Adventurers' Guild, her B-rank status, and the fact that her real name was Amy.

Both of them also found out that Aether had instantly been granted the legendary S-rank, just like Miss Alice, whom they had met before. However, they weren't jealous and considered it natural—after all, not many people could take on a dragon.

Aether also realized that this 'Miss Alice' was indeed the same Alice he had known. From the way they described her and her personality, it was too similar to be a coincidence. He even suspected that the idea of having ten S-rank adventurers was Alice's own doing—after all, she had once told him stories of grand adventures.

But what piqued his curiosity was whether Klee would still exist. His actions had likely changed certain events in the future.

Aside from that, Aether also heard about the Spiral Abyss, a place visited by adventurers from various regions. However, only those ranked B or higher were allowed to enter.

He also took a look at Bennett and Fischl's stats, which were as follows:

[Name: Bennett]

 [Level: 52]

 [HP: 14,455]

 [Attack: 1,073]

 [Defense: 193]

 [Dexterity: 228]

 [Elemental Mastery: 310]

 [Stamina: 140]

 [Affinity: 6]

Although Bennett's level was lower than Amber's, some of his stats were higher—such as HP, Defense, and Stamina.

This was because his body had endured numerous injuries, increasing his resilience over time. Meanwhile, Amber had a higher level due to the resources provided by the Knights of Favonius.

[Name: Fischl]

 [Level: 53]

 [HP: 11,235]

 [Attack: 1,043]

 [Defense: 153]

 [Dexterity: 268]

 [Elemental Mastery: 410]

 [Stamina: 100]

 [Affinity: 6]

As an investigator, Fischl rarely fought on the front lines against monsters. However, the reason her level was higher than Bennett's was her greater mastery of the elemental arts—not only surpassing Bennett's but also Amber's.

After chatting for almost an hour, Aether, Paimon, and Lisa decided to head back.

'It looks like we won't be able to enjoy afternoon tea anymore,' Lisa said, glancing at the darkening sky.

'Looks like we talked for too long,' Paimon added.

'In that case, how about we go straight to dinner at the place Lisa mentioned?' Paimon suggested.

'Paimon, have you forgotten that we don't have any Mora? Let Lisa decide—she's the one paying,' Aether reminded her.

'Ah, Paimon forgot! Wait—Traveler, we also don't have a place to stay for the night.'

'How about you two stay at my place? I'll even cook my special dish for you,' Lisa offered.

'Eh? Really?' Paimon asked excitedly.

'Of course.'

'What do you think, Traveler?'

'If you don't mind, then sure,' Aether agreed.

The three of them then made their way to Lisa's house. It wasn't too big or too small and had two bedrooms, a study, and a bathroom.

After changing out of her work clothes into something more comfortable, Lisa began preparing her special dish, which she called Mysterious Bolognese—a variation of Flaming Red Bolognese. The dish was made from flour, meat, and tomatoes.

Aether also made his signature dish—grilled fish.

Once they finished eating, the three of them sat on the sofa. Aether and Lisa were enjoying some wine, while Paimon was reading one of the books from Lisa's collection.

'Lisa, do the Knights of Favonius know the true identities of the ten S-Rank adventurers besides me?'

'From our conversation with Bennett and Fischl earlier, it seems like they only know about 'Miss Alice,' who is also from Mondstadt.'

'Are you curious, Traveler?'

'Yeah.'

'Paimon is, too!'

'Fufufu, in that case, let me tell you about the ten S-Rank adventurers.'

'The first one, as you've already heard, is Miss Alice, the mighty sorceress from Mondstadt. She also has a cute daughter named Klee, who is part of the Knights of Favonius.'

'If there's a chance, I'll introduce you to Klee. But right now, she's serving a punishment, so she isn't allowed to go outside.'

Aether was surprised to hear that Alice had a daughter named Klee. This meant that his actions back then had not changed the future at all.

But then he thought to himself, After all, 500 years have passed. There's no way she would have waited for me, right? And at that time, I wasn't in a position to contact her anyway.

Aether shook off the thought and focused back on Lisa's explanation.

'As for Miss Alice herself, she hasn't been seen for the past two years. But I'll explain more about that at the end.'

'The second is Igneel, from Natlan. It's said that this man is an incredibly powerful warrior.'

'The third is Irene Belserion, from Fontaine. Like Miss Alice, she is a sorceress and a very powerful Geo magic user. She, too, has not been seen for the past two years.'

'The fourth is Shimotsuki Ryuma, from Inazuma. He is an exceptionally skilled swordsman.'

'In addition, he is the leader of the border guards between the continent of Teyvat and the Dark Sea, preventing monsters from that place from invading Teyvat.'

'The fifth is Ur Milkovich, from Snezhnaya. She is an immensely powerful Ice magic user.'

'Not many people know this, but she is actually the true leader of the Adventurers' Guild.''

The sixth is Yao Chen, from Liyue. He is a brilliant alchemist.'

'He is the one who supplies all the necessary equipment to those guarding the border, whether it's weapons or medicine.'

'The seventh is Scheherazade, from Sumeru. She is also a sorceress. Back when I was studying in Sumeru, I met her several times and even sought her advice.'

'Currently, her whereabouts are unknown. The last time she was seen was five years ago.'

'The eighth is Yuhao, from Liyue, a highly skilled swordsman. You've heard of the Spiral Abyss, right?'

Both Aether and Paimon nodded.

'The defense of the Spiral Abyss is led by him, with the purpose of preventing the monsters inside from rising to the surface. Yao Chen also supplies equipment and medicine to those guarding the Spiral Abyss.'

'The ninth is Yamuraiha. She is from Fontaine and is also an excellent water-based sorceress. However, she has not been seen for the past two years.'

'And the last one is you, Traveler,' Lisa said.

'Why do all these names sound so familiar?!' Aether thought to himself after hearing the list.

These were all names of characters from various anime. Were they really the same people as in those stories, or was it just a coincidence?

Of course, Aether couldn't just ask Lisa about this.

'Miss Alice, Irene Belserion, and Yamuraiha have been missing for several years now. But since Miss Alice was quite close to the Knights of Favonius, she entrusted Klee to us.'

'She also told us the reason why—because the three of them were going on a very important mission. And as for Miss Scheherazade, her whereabouts are completely unknown.'

'Then, is this ranking based on strength?' Aether asked.

'No, the ranking is based on when they became S-rank adventurers. As for their actual power, no one knows who among them is the strongest. However, there are rumors that these individuals are at least as strong as the gods.'

'Paimon is curious about their ages since Paimon has heard rumors about them for a long time.'

'Fufufu, even though we're both women, it's a little rude to ask a lady's age, you know, Paimon. But I'll tell you anyway.'

'The oldest among them is at least over 500 years old, while the others are somewhere between 200 and 300 years old.'

Lisa continued,

'Each of these S-rank adventurers already has their own legendary tales, having completed numerous dangerous missions.'

'Traveler, as one of the S-rank adventurers, you will surely experience the same. Your own legendary tale is just beginning.'

'The first step of your legend was taken when you fought Dvalin, and your story won't stop there.'

'I'm certain that your journey will continue and become even greater than theirs, Traveler.

'I am sure that your story will continue and become even greater than all of theirs, Traveler. And when that time comes, poets will spread your name across all of Teyvat.'

'I will be looking forward to the day it happens.'
