Genshin Impact: Frostburn

Chapter 33: Chapter 32: Year's passed

4 years have passed since then. I am now 9 years old and during this time many things happened for me to count. To summarize this is what happened.

After the Tsaritsa gave us her protection we instantly started training and learning. It was so tiring that I felt like giving up multiple times.

Leon trained with his sword all day and grumbled every day about not being able to play anymore. He even tried to run away once, his rebellious phase started way too early.

Unlike him I didn't spend the whole day swinging a sword, I'm not good with it anyway. I started my mornings by exercising and then swinging my sword a few times, breakfast was served after we did our quota of swings which resulted in me eating breakfast when it was already close to lunch.

They expect me to swing a sword a thousand times in a child's body? Even if the sword is just a wooden one and quite small, it's still heavy you know. I don't even know how Leon could complete it easily.

It was then a year later when Papa suggested I try a different weapon. I didn't make any progress on using a sword, unlike Leon who could lift a silver sword with both hands already. All his brain juice might have gone into his muscles.

I tried a few weapons such as bows, mace, hammers, greatswords, and spears. Among them I liked the spear the most, it doesn't put much strain on the body since you hold it in the middle and only when you trust is the time when you hold the tip and feel the most strain, so I started using it. Papa also had one of his personal guards teach me the art of spear. His name is Polochko, apparently he's one of the youngest among Papa's retainers.

After lunch, Papa would teach me about trade, mora flow, math, logistics, and management. This is too much for a child's brain, if I didn't have these memories I would probably be foaming in the mouth just from math alone.

Papa doesn't ask about my unique intelligence or my unusual taste, maybe he just doesn't want to confront it or he doesn't really care about it.

Aside from all that the Tsaritsa also ordered us to get checked by Dottore regularly. The first time I heard the order I felt betrayed. Why would the Tsaritsa give us to that mad doctor? But then I realized how dangerous we could be, especially me who could go out of control anytime. I'm basically treated like a ticking time bomb.

After just a few months Dottore said that it was fine for Leon to not come anymore. I was relieved and scared at the same time. I would have begged Leon to stay with me if not for the Tsaritsa acknowledging it.

After Leon left, the experiments became much more scary. He started taking a few of my blood and tested different methods to use it, good thing none actually worked aside from corrupted energy and abysmal power. There's also the malice of fallen gods that he got from who knows where.

He would put a few drops of my blood in a container filled with malice and just watch there doing nothing.

The results were quite surprising. He concluded that It's not just the energy or power I could absorb, but also the fragments of memories they have. That explains the voices I heard and images I saw back on the fight with the Lawachurl.

After a year, I started to hear some muffled voices coming from the back of his lab paired with markings of blood on the walls of a few rooms, and when I came to his lab for a regular checkup one day, I met a man full of blood. He was bleeding all over his body and was missing an arm. Not long after Dottore shot him in the head and said "One of my lab rats escaped," Since then he didn't hide his "Unique experiments" from me and let it out in plain sight.

You can say that I've gone numb to all of the sights I've seen. I can't do anything about it and despite all his wrongdoings, he's still one of the Tsaritsa's Vassals.

Then Columbina and Capitano would check up on us every now and then. Also 2 years ago when Papa asked Capitano to train Leon. Since then Leon hasn't been home at all, not even once. I wonder if he's getting some spartan training from Capitano, considering it's Leon, he would probably complain a lot and try to run away.

That time too is when Columbina started teaching me about elemental power. I had a hard time using my vision and aside from that I'm banned from using my unique power outside of Dottore's laboratory.

She was as confused as I was about using my vision, I couldn't make it work at all despite following everything she said. It was only when she came with me to Dottore's lab that she realized and suggested something.

Since I can't get the element out, why don't I suck the elemental energy within the vision, and before it gets fully absorbed I would release it. At first, I was hesitant, one wrong move and I could die, and if I let it stay inside my body to get fully absorbed I would explode.

With their encouragement, I tried it, and behold! It worked! I could now use my vision! The only downside is that I need some time to absorb the element before I can release it, unlike normal visions where they can directly release the element inside.

Since then I've also trained my elemental output, trying to decrease the time of absorption, increase the rate of elemental absorption, and get the ideal form of elemental attack.

She taught me all about visions. There are two types of basic utilization of visions. First, is augmentation where you coat a weapon or your body with elemental energy that boosts your strength, speed, vitality, and more, it depends on what type of vision you have and what's the basis of your vision.

The second one is conjuration where you use the elemental energy to launch attacks aligned to the element of your vision, as simple as that though the power of each attack depends on your mastery and the energy you put in. I bet there's more to it than energy and mastery but for now, it's all good.

Some people would only use one type and master it while others would try and master the two forms of utilization. There are also the more advanced versions like fields, summons, and structures but they require harder conditions to meet in order to use them. I wonder when can I use my own domain expansion.

I also grew taller and more like Papa, and during this time I exchanged letters with Clervie and Peruere once every month. Sadly I can't visit the place especially now that there's a beef between Papa and Crucabena.

From the papers on Papa's desk, it seems like many of The House of the Hearth's operations have failed and she's blaming Papa for it. The audacity of this woman to blame someone unrelated, what a Karen.

That's all the significant things that happened. I was still bugged by the realization that these memories might not be mine. I just put it on hold since I probably won't get any answers for this anytime soon. Why worry about things you can't control... this would probably bite me in the back later on.

It's almost time for my long-term test. Papa would send me outside to get a better view of the world and establish my own connections.

Papa said that I would need to do this myself if I wanted to grow stronger. Of course, I won't do this alone, Papa sent Polochko and a few more Fatui agents disguised as normal merchants to accompany me, but I'm still sulking about the fact that he'll send me outside when I'm just 9 years old.

Am I that impressive or is Papa that dumb? Considering the fact that he's one of the richest people in Teyvat and is part of the Harbingers, it's probably the former. There's no time of completion, so I'm getting all the time I want. Years or even decades would pass and If he's still not satisfied I can't go home. I don't know if this is a blessing or a curse but oh well.
