Genshin Impact: Fatui's Resplendent Sword

Chapter 12: Relentless

After a long day, night finally came upon them. The sky displayed its wondrous stars and the silver moon. It may not be as beautiful as Snezhnaya's aurora, but it was still a sight to behold.

Heins glanced at his roommates, their face pale and exhausted. The combat session was continuous, held not for competition but for training.

Peruere had fought a couple of times before her little body gave in. She did won them all, which impressed them greatly. Mervien and Clervie could hold on longer, but not much.

Yhamin was the only one who stood out with his pure skills. In the sparring match, his swings were ferocious and powerful, throwing off his enemies.

The supervisor seems to noticed this long before Heins and Peruere joined the Hearth, and the boy always got paired with some of the strongest children.

As for Heins... They inspected him and sighed. The older boy looked the same as this morning, his black three-piece attire spotless and handsome.

They saw how he utterly made his opponents submit with a flash of action. Clervie couldn't suppressed her curiosity anymore and asked tentatively, "Big brother, how did you do that?"

"Do what?" Heins childish heart came out, his tone playful and amused.

Clervie pouted and crossed her arms over her chest, "Nevermind. I don't like big brother anymore."

"Core secrets, you dummy! How could big brother exposed his secrets so easily!" Mervien shook her head in disapproval, looking at Clervie with mock disappointment. Yhamin nodded in agreement, and even Peruere did the same.

Clervie felt wronged. She was just being curious. Is that really wrong?

"From what I saw, big brother could exploit even a single, nonexistent gap that normal eyes cannot see. For example, when I was paired up with big brother, as soon my sword deviated from his direction, big brother immediately took the opportunity to strike. It may be insignificant, but in the long run, the extra actions I did in order to block his assaults would be my downfall, since it drained my stamina. It was very scary!" Yhamin, who got the taste of clashing against Heins, solemnly proclaimed, drawing the girls' awe.

"Wow!"

"Big brother, is that true?!"

Noticing their glimmering gazes, Heins just smiled mysteriously. At the same time, he patted Yhamin on the back and complimented, "Impressive observation, Yhamin."

"It's not much compared to big brother," Yhamin smiled wryly. He thought he could be considered skilled, but Heins's skill was too sharp, too terrifying. A single, tiny crevice could be seen and was used to penetrate the defence. That's how Yhamin felt when he clashed against Heins's sword.

After bickering with them for a while, Heins finally has the time to ponder, his eyes narrowed as he slowly placed himself on his bed. Peruere previously hugged his waist and bid him goodnight before she slumped on her mattress like a ragdoll.

Yhamin couldn't careless. The rough boy snored loudly the moment his face was planted on the pillow. Clervie and Mervien seem to have their own little secrets and planned to go out first, their eyes occasionally glanced at Heins, who smiled and gestured his head in response.

"Big brother, we want to see the stars! Mervien said she was very good at deciphering their trajectory. Isn't that right, Mervy?"

"Hmph!" Mervien nodded enthusiastically. She began to took out some strange things and proudly explained, "Look, this is the Epicilia Star, an item that..."

As the girl happily explained her stuff, Clervie whispered to Heins, "They are all made up, including the names. But some of her depictions are actually correct, so she is quite trustworthy!"

After being thoroughly entertained by Mervien's astrology expertise, Heins watched as they left the room to watch the stars.

Finally having the time for himself, Heins put a hand on his eyes, and a surge of exhaustion took over. Actually, Heins understood what Yhamin meant very well. He was indeed taking advantage of the bits of details uncaught by a pair of normal eyes.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to kill 4 men with little Peruere in his hand, no?

Heins couldn't understand it either, but it has always been like this the moment he went into combat mode. The gaps that are so tiny and insignificant couldn't be more clearer in his eyes.

What people must hone for years could be attained instantaneously by him. The instinct and the sharp eyesight to identify the opponent's weakest points.

Of course, it required excessive focus, and he mostly took a quick glance before he determined the 'positions' of the gaps. Prolonged observation, once he did in the past, could blind his eyes.

The effect was temporary, but it served as a severe warning. Heins closed his eyes and sighed wearily. Its auxiliary abilities were even more terrifying. His memory became exceptional, his gaze became attentive and sharp, his focus unmatched, and more importantly, his comprehension was excessively enhanced.

The drawbacks? Heins glanced at Peruere who giggled in her sleep, with a cute little black thing, Bambi, sleeping peacefully on her bedside.

If there's one thing he could discern from her current state, then it would be the fact that she was in peace. Her brows relaxed, her body at ease, and her little snores unconstrained.

He couldn't do that.

There's a reason he loves those nasty drinks. It's not about the taste, but the warmth, the easiness, the sheer amount of pleasure he could get as he dived deep into the sea of unconsciousness.

Heins took out a small bottle inside the black cloak he used to don. He looked at the liquor inside and took a deep breath. The smell was odd, clearly a cheap spirit. The boy gritted his teeth and gulped it all down.

He coughed violently. Of course he would. However, he began to feel like he's levitating. According to the Snezhnayans at their local tavern, they called it being 'high'.

"Ugh..." His face blushed as he collapsed on the bed. Heins chuckled out loud. What is he, acting like a middle aged man when little Peruere was only three years younger than him?

His overdriven mind began to relax, and his vigilance dissipated, leaving him in an addicting relaxed state.

"This is amazing..." The boy slurred out as his eyes turned dark. A shot was enough to take him out.

Perhaps this is a good thing. Wouldn't he require more shots to unconstraint his nerves if his tolerance is strong?

As he fell into the realm of dream, little Peruere, dumbfounded, opened her hazy eyes. She narrowed them, searching for something. She felt like she was lacking something.

It wasn't until she caught a familiar figure that the little girl dazedly walked up to the sleeping boy and jumped into his arms. It was something she used to do every time Heins came back at the time when they were still vagabonds. Way back before she could took refuge in Rayter's store.

The moon shone through the window, casting its silver light on the two children. The situation was still the same, but at least the environment allowed them to sleep in an actual bed.
