Chapter 28: Back In The Alfronda Cavern
"Here's the plan, We will be making two stops for the night on our way to Cascarrafa. One when we reach the Crossroads that splits towards Cascarrafa and Cortondo, while the second stop will be at the Pokemon Center just a few Kilometers from Cascaraffa itself. So we'll be able to make it to the city on the morning of our third day. Today we'll be passing through the Alfronda Cavern and the Cliffside Walkway looking over the Edges of the South Paldean Sea, There'll be a lot of walking, Today.
Tomorrow we'll be taking it slower, we'll make a stop at the top of Windmill Hills for a lunch picnic, take a couple of photos of the sights, and have a relaxing walk downhill until we reach the Pokecenter.
According to the forecast, We should be having a nice sunny day with only minor winds coming in once we start getting closer to Asado.
Any Questions?"
I look away from the note app on my phone to check if Dendra and our Pokemon got all of that.
"Yosh! I got it all! We'll run all the way through the Cavern and the cliffs! And once we reach the crossroads we'll make a huge campfire!" Dendra nodded excitedly, having heard what I said but obviously putting her own plans in place.
"No. We'll be walking, at a walking pace. With the Earthquake recently, many of the Wild Pokemon will be frightened by loud noises and sharp movements, we don't want a Dugtrio to pull us into a hole because they thought we might be Predators." I told Dendra who seemed to deflate at the idea of not running past the Cavern.
"And besides, This Cavern is where Fanny and I met, I'd like to get a bit of a closer look at the place, seeing as last time I was here I was too busy trying to make my way to Alfronda." I smile as I scratch the neck of the Salandit wrapped around my waist, "Isn't that right Girl?"
"Sal..." Hissed in her cat-like manner, her tail rubbing my back as a little cloud of smoke left her nostrils.
"Medi Medicham!" I turned away from my partner to see Dendra being given a stern talking to by her Medicham, the short Pokemon almost towering over her trainer as she wagged her finger at her.
Seeing as there wasn't much more to say, I double-checked our food and water for the trip, Made sure all the camping gear was in place, And went to say goodbye to my very best friend in Alfronda.
The Old Cyclizar that lives by the bike stop.
"Skwa!" A group of Squawkabilly cawed at me before flying away, leaving me a few minutes to sit down on the bench beside the Cyclizar.
"Salandit Sal," Fanny said as we sat on the bench, Watching Dendra seemingly be questioned by her own Team.
At least that's what it looks like from here. Although I think Tauros seems to be laughing at something, but it's unimportant.
We have a few minutes to sit down and relax before we start our journey.
"Heh, A Journey," I couldn't help stop the smile from climbing my face, It might not be an actual Pokemon Journey where we travel the region and fight gym leaders, but In this world, where we have these wonderful and majestic creatures known as Pokemon, Even a three-day walk between two cities could be a sight to behold.
"Sal?" Fanny looked up at me as I huffed in amusement.
I smiled down at my Spoiled Poisonous Princess "Come on Fanny, Let's get this show on the road,"
--------------------
"I haven't used the Walking Path to reach Alfronda in a long time," Dendra said as the two of us walked through the Alfronda Cavern, Flashlights in hand, following the path illuminated by the reflective signs, "I usually take the Flying Taxi nowadays,"
We look at the brown and grey rock that made up our surroundings, spotting a family of Yungoos in the distance making their way towards the exit of the cavern.
Unfortunately, there was one large problem standing in our path.
And that One large problem was made of both rope and wood.
"Okay Fanny, I'll be putting you back in your ball for now, I'll let you out once We're done here," I try and put on a face that shows that I'm not afraid, Fanny rolling her eyes at me as a flash of red energy dragged her into her Pokeball.
Did I already talk about my fear of falling? Because I hate Rope Bridges.
"Yosh! Get over here Dishon, The Bridge is stable!" Dendra yelled from the other side of the long bridge, her voice echoing around the cavern, causing a Toxel somewhere in the distance to start crying.
"Just a second!" I yell over the gap between us and take a deep breath, slowly placing one foot on the wooden planks of the bridge, hands gripping tight the rope at my sides.
"Yeah! That's the spirit! Kick that Fear of heights in the face!" Dendra, your cheering is really appreciated, but please stop.
"Dishon Dishon he's our man! If he can't do it no one can!" Stop, Please, This is embarrassing me much more than it's scaring me!
And with a face flushed red in embarrassment, I crossed the bridge as fast as I safely could, just so I could place my hand over Dendra's mouth to stop her from yelling more embarrassing cheers.
She just winked at me before placing her own hand over my mouth.
I stared blankly at her, using my other hand to release Fanny from her ball as I raised an eyebrow at Dendra.
We stayed like that for another ten seconds before I let go of her mouth, allowing me to see the cheeky smirk on her face.
"See, There was nothing to fear, The Bridge didn't collapse," She told me before she too took her hand off my mouth.
I merely blinked slowly at her before taking a long, deep breath.
"Let's just leave this cave already," I said, feeling Fanny rub her tail on my back as Dendra pat my shoulder.
"Yosh! Let's get out of here!"
