Chapter 94: The Four Cards (b)
"If you want to live a life full of luxury, delicious and sumptuous food, thousands of servents and hundreds of guard, also, with dozens of beautiful women that will warm your bed at a single command for you then choose the Queen of Diamonds card. Then again, you will become a puppet for the nobles to control as they wish. In the end, you will just become a useless bumkin. Do you want that?" The dark spirit said in a carefree manner.
Whittaker's handsome face with bubbly cheeks turned tomato red. He blushed at Lord Dark Spirits' words because he had enough knowledge to understand what he meant by his words. Also, Whittaker did not want to become a useless bumkin so he turned his gaze to the third card, refusing to give even a single more glance or second of his life to the trashy Queen of Diamonds card.
Right away, Lord Dark spirit understood the meaning behind his action and continued by explaining the real use of the third card,
"If you want to become involved in a world where violence lords over words of wisdom then choose the third card. You will make lots of enemies both in and outside the kingdom of water but you will grow faster. Within twenty years, you will have a lot of say in the military matters of the Kingdom of Water. Now, tell me, do you want to choose this path filled with violence, bloodshed, death, betrayal, and misery?
"No!" Whittaker instantly declined. "I believed that the Headmaster Yeon Branch was good but it seems like I have made a wrong judgment." Whittaker was just a young boy, a young boy who was not ready to live in a world of violence. Whittaker paused for a second before continuing,
"Lord Dark Spirit, tell me about the fourth card!" He was excitedly staring at the mysterious Pristine card, Twilight Walker with glittering eyes.
"If you select the Pristine Twilight Walker's card then you will be exposed to the truth of this world. You will witness both the good and bad sides of this world. Not only this world but also the spirit world. You will become a Guardian, true to your title, who saves and help humans, demi-humans, and spirits, alike. But in this path, you will be met with hardship, and only brave men can take this path. Lastly, if you want to know who your parents are, why they abandoned you in the care of good peoples, and why they were not there for you during your entire life then pick this card. If you join the Twilight department then you will be able to know more about your parents! Decide, the decision is entirely up to you to make." The dark spirit said as carefreely as ever. It was as if nothing in the world could disturb him.
Whittaker, on the other hand, felt far more than just disturbed by his words. 'I want to know about my parent. I want to know why they abandoned me. I want to know who they are. I want to know where they are!' Whitaker internally exclaimed. He has always wondered about who his real mother and father are and whether they wanted him or not. Now, there was a way of knowing it all.
He was willing to endure all hardships. No matter how arduous the future will be, he was willing to take this path. He was righteous; he wanted to know more about his parents. Also, he was interested in the spirit world and the beings that reside there. These three reasons were enough for him.
Just like Lord Dark spirit thought, Whittaker instantly picked up the Twilight Walker's card without any hesitation. Right when Whittaker picked up the pristine card, a message rang out from it.
‹Please place your Awakened Identity Card or Student Identity card on the Pristine, Twilight Walker's card›
Whittaker was stunned but this was not the first time he had heard something that shouldn't talk, talk. He was able to maintain his calm. Right then, Elder Zachary's archaic voice resounded within the entire boundary of Zachary's palace.
"Young friend, do as it says. There's no harmful effect; Instead, you will become an unofficial member of the Twilight Walker's department of our kingdoms." Elder Zachry explained, even though he was disappointed at Whittaker choosing this card. 'Nevertheless, the boy's potential will truly shine in the Twilight Walker's department, especially because the crown prince of flames is the leader of this department.'
Elder Zachary has said it and Whittaker believed his words. Whittaker thought, 'There's no reason for him to harm me, after all'
He took his student identity card out from the safe chest pockets and placed it atop the other card. A voice rang out from the pristine card as it notified Whittaker: ‹Detected that the target, Whittaker is still not privileged to access the dream world and is thus, not able to join the Twilight Walker's Network and chat group in the dream world. You will need to upgrade the Student ID card to join them. Currently, the target can only become an unofficial member of the Twilight Walker's department by getting an imprint inscribed on the body. Do you want to activate an imprint?›
"I need to upgrade my student ID card to Tier 4 before I can access the dream world. That will take a lot of time." Whittaker said while scratching his head. "What other choice do I have, imprint it!" He said while thinking, 'It would take months to become an unofficial member if I choose otherwise.'
It needed a lot of royal credit points and some achievements to upgrade the privilege level of the student ID card. Whittaker really did not have any other choice.
Following protocols, the pristine card asked again for confirmation. Whittaker replied with a Yes!
Suddenly, the pristine card released a thick wave of mana that formed a small cloud, right after, the cloud dabbed into his right hand. He felt a strange power flow through his right hand as if something was gently coursing through the veins of his hand.
