Chapter 62: Family man young Whittaker!
Whittaker inserts his Student ID card on the slot of the card reader installed in the metallic box, and a holographic screen pops up,
‹Greetings, dear customer. Please select the service you wish to utilize›
‹Exchange›‹Deposit›‹Withdraw›‹Transfer›
Whittaker knew what these four services of the metallic box do. By using the exchange service, he can change Royal Credit points into platinum bars. By using the deposit service, he can store a certain amount of platinum bar in the bank. By using the Withdraw service, he can withdraw platinum bars. By using the transfer service, he can transfer any amount of money to anyone he wants to, including but not limited to his mother, brother, sister, and friends, old or newly made, hence he used the exchange options. A new menu opened up,
‹ Insert the amount here ›
Whittaker put in 20 and a blue light shined from the metallic box and 20 platinum bars materialized. He picked them up. He wanted to send some money to his family, so he activated the transfer service. A holographic screen opened up, and a sweet girly voice came from the other end,
"Hello Sir, how may I help you?"
This was a recorded voice that plays whenever a person uses the exchange service.
"I want to deliver 20 platinum bars!"
"Please enter the name of the receiver. The name of the City, Town, or residential area of the receiver. House number, flat number, or room number is also required›
Whittaker did just that. He knew the house number of his mother, and the name of the town his family lived in. He sent 10 Platinum bars to his lovely, kind, and lonely mother. At the last thought, Whittaker's eyes dropped low. Right now, his elderly mother had no one beside her as he and Elisha were studying in two separate academies while brother Hera mostly works away from home. She must be feeling lonely, especially in this cold winter.
He sends 5 platinum bar to Hera, as most of his expenses to date were born by him. The last five platinum bars were transferred to Elisha, as he didn't want to see a horrifying nightmare.
The machine notified him that the transaction process will take a minimum of 72 hours to a maximum of one week to complete. Whittaker was okay with it, as he wasn't pressed by time.
With that said, he went to a nearby machine that is owned by Delivery Association, whose postmen and women are famously known as "livreurs".
There were many white sheets placed in a rack connected to the machine, and he picked three sheets. A pen with unlimited ink was also connected to the machine. He used the pen to jot down the emotions he holds for three different people on the sheets.
"Mother, I have missed you. I have sent a small sum your way. Please use it immediately to buy some jewelry." He wrote with a teary-face. In the past, there were many times when Mother Lin had to sell her jewelry for money to afford daily expenses. Now, Whittaker wanted her to be decorated in jewelry from head to toe, just like aunty Zhang and Selena from next door. He continued, "I will be buying a big house for you in Frost Fall City next month, so we will become close neighbors. That way, I will be able to sneak out of the academy to meet you. Love you, mom, ~"
"I have made it rich bro, and nothing is stopping me from getting richer. Also, I have sent a surprise on your way. Anyways, soon, I will have enough, we will be able to open our dream shop!" Whittaker wrote this letter to his brother.
Among the commoners, Hera was a good trader, and he could run a shop perfectly. He could become rich, but Whittaker knew that his hard-working family would still want to "Work". That's why he will let them do as they please. Whittaker was protective of his loved ones, but he didn't want to break their wings just to keep them by his side.
The last letter was sent to Elisha, "Sis, I will be able to support your growth expense by next week. I have sent some allowance, it's not much but next time for sure, I will send a lot! Take care of your beauty, and don't become like Teacher goblin~ I don't want to see a bald Eli that looks like one!"
Even he felt horrified while writing this letter. He felt goosebumps from just thinking about seeing an Eli with thick, bulky muscles and no hairs. He won't allow that!
All the thoughts that have remained stagnant in the pit of his stomach have been expressed thoroughly. He put the three letters in the letter delivery machine, and new words formed on the screen.
‹Dear customer, the delivery fee will cost you 1 gold coin or 0 Royal credit points›
This was the basic service cost, and it was zeroed for people belonging to the Royal Frost Fall Academy. It's all because of Headmaster Yeon. Everyone wanted to form or strengthen their relationship with him, especially the head of the Delivery Association.
The service machine demanded a fee, which is free of cost, and Whittaker happily paid for it by using his Student ID card. A swipe of the hand and the mission was done. Afterward, the machine automatically played a recorded message.
‹Our livreurs (postman) will deliver these letters within three days. Thanks for using our services. Dear customer, please visit us soon›
From the looks of it, Whittaker determined that the delivery association was as humble as him.
He walked towards the beast's core purifiers to purify his beast cores. Suddenly, a notification popped up
[There's no need for the Guardian to purify these beast cores. You can convert them into experience points or directly absorb them!]
Whittaker wasn't interested in converting them into XP, as the best way to gain experience points was to kill magical beasts. Though, he was really curious as to why he didn't need to purify the beast cores.
'Eh, why? As far as I know every mage or battle master purifies beast cores before absorbing them, otherwise, there will be bad side effects. Could it be that I am special?' In reply, he thought in confusion.
