Chapter 36: Moonstone
In Whittaker's eyes, a beautiful garden was reflected. It could only be described as a clearing in the spring.
Patches of Silver Moonlight grass are flanked by huge towering trees. A lone ornamental piece stands in the back, it evokes the image of the God of magical beasts.
Each tree was thicker than five meters and thick vines circle their trunk. The trunk of every tree had a wide circular hole. The insides were big enough to house tens of Whittaker. He presumed that these are the homes of the snow wolves. He curiously thought, 'Shadow had found the den of the snow wolves, but how? There were no tracks whatsoever on the snow.'
He turned to Shadow and asked to satisfy his curiosity, "How did you find–"
"Don't be surprised, the spirits guided me here," Shadow answered with a mysterious smile. He couldn't tell him more than that, as it is in for Whittaker's own good to be privy to this information.
"Spirits are real!" Whittaker was surprised and had his beliefs shaken by his words. He didn't believe in ghosts and stuff like that. He was an intelligent child and understood that stories of ghosts are told to kids just to scare them, but now it seems like they are real!
The entire place was filled with Silver Moon Grass. Magical beasts are said to possess wisdom and human-like intelligence, so they must have found a way to farm this grass in winter or so Whittaker thought.
Glancing one time in all four directions, Whittaker calculated that there are around 3000 stalks of Silver Moon grass of varying sizes ranging from 2 inches to 4 inches. The thinking wheels in his mind started to run faster than a dark horse. His thought process hastened so fast that after a second he calculated that they can earn 2500 Royal credit points from these herbs.
"We have struck it rich!" The mouth started to salivate as greed took control: For 2500 Royal credit points equates to 2500 platinum bar. With so many bars, he could buy a piece of land and a mansion in Frost Fall City!
Standing beside him was the knowledgeable royal, Shadow, who was as astonished as Whittaker but for a completely different reason. Had the spirits guided him to a treasure cave?
Shadow observing gaze examined every inch of this place with interest and soon after he started to laugh like a maniac. Whittaker was horrified by his sudden loud laughter. Perhaps the treasure had shocked him too much?
He asked what's wrong and Shadow replied with sparkling eyes, "So many Silver Moon Grass can't be cultivated in a single place, especially when it's winter. And, it seems like some of these Silver Moon Grass are around 2-star, some even have reached 3-star. There must be a treasure somewhere here, a treasure loaded with vitality. A treasure so unique that it can stimulate the process of magical herbs!"
Whittaker eyes also started to sparkle. He thought, 'A treasure that can help grow so many treasures must be a greater treasure!'
Normally, if it was an average hunting group, a huge blood bath would have already begun. No one would give up on such huge wealth, even if it means butchering other humans and committing it all to cause a bloodbath, but the same didn't go for Whittaker and Shadow.
Shadow was a royal while Whittaker wouldn't kill someone for "treasure". For Whittaker, a human life worth more than a million, such has become his mentality under the teachings of Mother Lin. While Shadow was very rich, his pockets so deep that the cash could fill even the deepest of rivers. To witness the wonders of the world and form memorable relations are some of the reasons why Shadow do quests.
Gazing at each other with sparkling eyes, the two boys nodded and dashed to each side of the wolf den entrance. Words weren't needed as both knew what they should do to loot the place in the fastest time.
Whittaker chooses the left side while Shadow chooses the right side. Both had a smile on their faces as if what they were about to do wasn't a robbery but an act of gratitude. One by One, they entered the homes of the wolves to look out for treasures.
And, they really did find many!
The treasures they found were of the same name but their quality varied and the treasure cost 100 platforms and more apiece. To say the least, the spirits had blessed Shadow. The treasure they found was the famous Moonstone.
