Chapter 118: Clash of The Dragons
[A/N: Thanks for 1M Reads, I greatly appreciate the support.]
(Third Person POV)
Drogon gained ahead of Viserra, letting out a roar as Morghul returned a roar of his own. The two were nearly about to clash when Viserra trailed behind Viserra.
Rhaegon leaned forward, "Second One."
Right about as Drogon was about to meet Morghul, The Black Lord immediately evaded to the side, spinning to his side and swooping past the Black Stallion, avoiding completely.
Daegon gritted his teeth, "Coward!!" He bellowed in Dothraki
Morghul then flew right at Viserra and extended his wings outwards, breaking his speed and swiping his claws up at the dragon. The cream and gold dragon was caught off guard, crashing against Morghul's claws as he had swiped them up. She had tried to flap her wings to avoid a full impact but the Black Lord was able to cut her chest and neck up a bit.
"Curses!!" Syras exclaimed as she grabbed ahold of the handles, "He aimed for me?!"
Morghul flapped his wings hard and flew away, firing a quick burst of flames at Viserra who was hit on the chest. Due to her previous fight with Moonfyre, the dragon was already a bit softened up, so that combination of claws and flames really hurt her and caused her to whimper loudly in pain, forcing her to gain a bit of distance as Syras straightened up.
Morghul immediately flew upwards above Viserra who momentarily flew away from him as Drogon circled around with haste, letting out a roar as Rhaegon looked over.
Daegon had an enraged look on his face, "Faster, Drogon, Faster!!!!" He said in High-Valyrian
Morghul quickly swooped in towards Viserra, adding even more pressure as Drogon made his way towards them. Viserra had no choice but to engage in a quick clash, crashing against the larger dragon as her scales began to ripped apart by Morghul's claws, the two of them slowly tumbling down as they breathed flames against each other.
Morghul was hit in the chest and neck with Viserra's flames but was seemingly unfazed, merely returning fire as the smaller dragon was getting wounded.
"This is bad..." Syras said as she felt the heat of Morghul's flames, "I need a bit of distance....."
Viserra pushed herself off Morghul's grasp as Drogon swooped down from high above, diving right for Morghul.
Rhaegon noticed this, "Hm..." He said as he steered Morghul away
Drogon missed the dive and Daegon began to glare at Rhaegon as the Black Stallion straightened up in a glide, circling around Morghul who began to ascend back higher up.
"What are you doing, Rhaegon Baratheon?!?!" Daegon bellowed in High-Valyrian, "Are you so much of a coward that you won't meet me face-to-face?!"
"We can take this on the ground if you wish, Khal." Rhaegon smirked as he fastened the reigns on his saddle, "The two of you won't be a problem here on the Heavens nor the Earth....it matters not how I fight you."
Daegon glared at him, "ANGOS, DROGON!!!!!"
Drogon let out a vicious roar as he flapped his wings, launching himself at Morghul who was merely circling above them.
Rhaegon saw that Viserra and Syras were gaining distance. He knew that the smaller dragon was wounded and would need a bit of a breather should it still be capable of fighting without risk of dying.
Morghul let out a roar as Drogon approached and Rhaegon nodded, "Yea."
The Black Lord swooped down at Drogon and the two of them clashed hard, their massive bodies colliding against each other which caused both of their riders' bodies to jerk violently as they braced themselves.
The Dothraki on the ground, the Dornish on the camp off into the far distance, both parties were able to see the surreal sight; the clash of these two black dragons. They were the largest Dragons that they have ever seen up until that point, the two only Black Dragons that they knew of. They were like two massive shadows crashing against each other in the sky, the sounds of their vicious roaring resounding through the air.
Drogon and Morghul were currently locked in combat.
Drogon swiped his claws against Morghul's lower body, just above his legs but found that his claws merely scrapped against the obsidian scales of The Black Lord. The Black Stallion tried to bite at Morghul's neck but Morghul pushed away from him with ease, flapping his wings and immediately firing a quick burst of flames.
The flames hit Drogon hard, pushing him away a couple of meters as the Black Lord flapped his wings hard. Morghul immediately launched himself back at Drogon in a nearly impossible way.
He dove down and spun around, grabbing Drogon by the legs and in a shocking display, he spun down to pull Drogon down to the ground to destabilize his flight. The amount of velocity needed for this feat required Morghul to fly a couple of dozen meters first but the Black Lord performed that with ease, requiring two strong flap of his wings.
Drogon barreled to the ground, spinning around in time to prevent Daegon from being crushed by the fall but he still crashed against the ground hard.
Daegon was straightening up, the crash nearly sending him flying out of the saddle despite his straps.
"That....bastard..." He cursed in Dothraki, "I'll kill him."
He then looked up to see Morghul flying in for a sweep, flames flying out of his maw and burning across the sands as it hit Drogon. If the Black Stallion had not raised himself up to shield Daegon from the flames, it is quite possible that the Khal would've died in the flames but fortunately for Daegon, that did not happen.
Drogon was engulfed by smoke as Morghul flew away, the sweep causing him to be stunned due to the damage. For now, after the quick clash, the Black Stallion was grounded.
Rhaegon then looked over to see Viserra flying right at him as Syras stood up a bit on the saddle, holding what looked like a bow and arrow.
"Shit." Rhaegon said as he ducked down
As Viserra flew over Morghul, an arrow flew right past Rhaegon's head and bounced off Morghul's hide, shattering upon impact.
Viserra let out a roar as she circled around, looking at them as Syras sat back down.
"Hmph..." She said, "Close.....but not quite...."
Rhaegon gritted his teeth, "That woman..." He said, "She almost got my head skewered."
Syras nocked another arrow from a specialized quiver on her saddle, "This Rhaegon Baratheon is a formidable rider." She said, "It's obvious that this will not be an easy fight. Perhaps Valerion stands a chance, quite possibly Vaemon...well, maybe not Eldest Brother, Rhaegos is smaller than that one. Morghul, huh?"
Rhaegon looked down at Drogon who emerged from the smoke, letting out a loud roar.
"Okay...." He said as he rubbed his neck, "Time to pick the pace up. I need that smaller dragon gone or grounded for a good bit so I can focus on the black one."
"Time to get to work, then."
[A/N: I know some people have asked about the sizes of the Dragons so far and I am not sure if I had answered that question in a comment a few months ago.
So here I'm going to somewhat scale their sizes from Largest to Smallest.
- Morghul (Rhaegon Baratheon): Same size as Caraxes in HOTD but he's not as skinny, obviously. He's basically a bigger Meleys with obsidian black scales and his top horns are thicker and longer. He has gold eyes too.
- Drogon(Khal Daegon): Slightly smaller than Morghul. I really don't know if Season 8 Drogon is bigger or smaller than Meleys. Some sources say he is, some say he isn't. But let's go with this. The difference is barely noticeable.
- Araxes(Rhaegar Targaryen: Slightly smaller than Meleys in HOTD.
- Moonfyre(Viserys Targaryen): Slightly larger than Seasmoke in HOTD.
- Meylax(Shaena Targaryen): Seasmoke's size. Both Meylax and Araxes are not used that much so that is why Viserys and Rhaegon are the combat Dragonriders.
- Shrykos(Daenerys Targaryen): Seasmoke's size or slightly smaller than Meylax.
- Rhaegos/Rhaegal(Aemon Blackfyre): Seasmoke's size, if not slightly smaller than Meylax.
- Viserra/Viserion(Syras Blackfyre): Slightly smaller than Seasmoke.
- Sundancer: Slightly larger than Syrax. For some reason, she did not get a growth spurt like her children(Meylax and Moonfyre) did. She is the current Mother Dragon and most of the dragons in the Dragonpit are from her.
- Unnamed Dragons: Most of the unclaimed and unnamed dragons in the Dragonpit are around the same size as Arrax if not slightly smaller. There is about four or five that are currently being held.
Should be noted that these sizes may have changed from the comment I made due to the constant timeskips that happened.
As far as I know, there is no Vhagar-sized Dragon in the world. And there probably won't be a Balerion-sized Dragon again....
Or will there? ;) ]
