Chapter 87: 87. Earn 4 million first
ZaneBoting raised his offer to 3.8 million.
Jason Liu countered with 4.3 million.
The two continued to negotiate, and the price hit a deadlock at 4 million and 4.2 million. Neither side was willing to budge. Finally, Boss Wang, who was overseeing the deal, couldn't take it anymore. He stepped in to resolve the situation.
"Come on, you two, this isn't getting anywhere. How about we meet in the middle? 4.1 million, and we call it a deal!" Boss Wang suggested, eager to smooth things over.
Both Jason Liu and Zane Boting knew that 4.1 million was a fair compromise, so they agreed without any more fuss.
In the end, Zane Boting paid 4.1 million for the 2.54 kg gold bullion from Jason Liu.
After the payment was transferred, the deal was done, and the gold now belonged to Zane Boting. Jason checked his account and saw the 4.1 million deposit. He was thrilled. He stood up and shook Zane Boting's hand, smiling.
"Mr. Zane, it's been a pleasure doing business with you!" Jason said.
"Likewise, Mr. Liu!" Zane replied, equally pleased. He knew he'd make a good profit from the deal. "And listen, if you come across any more gold in the future, don't hesitate to call me. Jin Fuyuan is always interested."
They exchanged phone numbers and smiled at each other.
Zane escorted Jason and Boss Wang out of his office. After watching them enter the elevator, Zane rushed back to his desk. He took a few high-quality photos of the gold bullion and sent them to his father on WeChat.
His father, Zane Yanzheng, quickly replied, "Is this the one we talked about?"
"Yes, Dad. It's 2.54 kg, and I got it for 4.1 million," Zane Boting confirmed.
"Good price. We're going to make a profit!" his father replied.
"Do you want to hold on to this piece of gold, or should I sell it?" Zane asked.
"Sell it. It's too small to keep, especially compared to what we already have," his father responded.
Zane didn't hesitate. He immediately called Uncle Lin, a trusted business contact.
"Hello, Uncle Lin! It's Zane Boting from Jin Fuyuan," Zane greeted warmly.
"Well, well, if it isn't Boting! I haven't heard from you in ages. So, you've taken over your father's company, huh? Good for you!"
Zane chuckled, "Oh, not entirely. My father still runs the big picture. I'm just managing the day-to-day."
After some small talk, Zane got straight to the point. "Uncle Lin, I've got a piece of dog head gold, 2.54 kg. Very high gold content. I think you'll be interested."
"Dog head gold? Hmm, send me some pictures," Uncle Lin replied, clearly intrigued.
Zane sent him the photos, and within minutes, Uncle Lin called back.
"Bo Ting, I'll take it! I'll stop by your office this afternoon to finalize the deal."
"Great! I'll be waiting for you, Uncle Lin," Zane replied, smiling.
Later that afternoon, Uncle Lin visited Zane's office, inspected the gold, and bought it for 5 million. Zhang made a 900,000 profit in a matter of hours and gained a valuable business favor in the process. That's the power of good connections.
Of course, Jason Liu didn't know about any of this. And even if he did, there wasn't much he could do. This was Zane's network, and Jason couldn't match it.
After leaving the Jin Fuyuan company with Boss Wang, Jason transferred the agreed 200,500 yuan to him as a commission. Boss Wang was thrilled. A quick trip and he'd made a cool 200,000 profit.
"Let me know if you need help again in the future," Boss Wang said before driving off.
Boss Wang had offered to give Jason a ride home, but Jason declined and took a taxi back to his villa. Sitting at home later, Jason felt confident as he checked his bank account, now holding over 4 million. He was relieved, knowing he had enough to pay off the balance for some important props he'd ordered.
He then pulled out a 4.79 kg piece of gold he had stored and decided to take it to Jin Fuyuan the next day. If things went well, he hoped to sell it to Zane.
Jason snapped a picture of another, even larger gold piece—an 8.73 kg bull-shaped nugget. If tomorrow's deal went smoothly, he planned to show Zane the photo and see if he could help find a serious buyer.
The price for this "bull gold" was at least 90 million. Only the wealthiest buyers would be able to afford it, and Jason didn't have the right contacts for that level of sale. Sure, he'd heard of billionaires like "Papa Ma" or "Brother Ma," but they didn't know him, and without any connection, selling to them was out of the question.
As he thought about all this, Jason started browsing luxury sports cars online, eyeing Ferraris. He checked the prices—some models ranged from 2 million to over 20 million yuan. With his current 4 million in the bank, he figured he could easily afford a Ferrari F8, which cost around 3 million.
He called the Ferrari dealership in his city to ask about availability. Unfortunately, they didn't have the model in stock, and it would need to be transferred from another city.
Jason wasn't in a rush. After spending a few months in Westeros, where he'd made millions, his desire for a luxury car had faded. But since it was something he'd always wanted, he still planned to buy one, just not something extravagant. After all, he wasn't a fan of high-speed racing—he just wanted a cool car for everyday use.
