Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Chapter 153: 153. Is the single dog life coming to an end?

Lin Xiaohan instinctively hid the towel behind her back. Lowering her head and blushing, she asked softly, "Mom, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"

For the first time, Lin Ma felt a strange mix of emotions. It was as if the "cabbage" she had raised at home for so many years was about to be taken away. She didn't know how to feel about it.

"It's nothing. I just noticed that you seem quite skilled at this," Lin Ma said quietly, her tone carrying a hint of disbelief.

Blushing even harder, Lin Xiaohan mumbled, "Oh, I… I think I can take care of Dad like this too." Her ears turned red as she spoke.

Lin Ma shook her head and sighed. "I'll go check on your dad." She left the guest room with mixed feelings, her suspicions growing stronger: her daughter had fallen for this young man, Jason Liu.

Not long ago, she had been urging her daughter to find a boyfriend quickly. But now that Lin Xiaohan had brought someone home, Lin Ma found herself reluctant. It was such a strange feeling.

As she returned to her bedroom, these thoughts swirled in her mind, leaving her slightly bewildered.

Meanwhile, Lin Xiaohan looked at Jason Liu, who was sleeping soundly on the bed. Despite her embarrassment, she couldn't help but chuckle softly. His face, relaxed in sleep, had an unexpectedly endearing charm.

Earlier that evening, dinner had ended with Jason Liu and her father both getting drunk. Lin Xiaohan had helped her mother clean up the dining table, wash the dishes, and finish tidying up before heading to take a shower.

Later, as she lay in bed, she complained to her best friend Jiang Chuchu through messages about how both her father and Jason Liu had gotten drunk.

The moment Jiang Chuchu learned that Jason Liu was staying the night at Lin Xiaohan's house, her curiosity and excitement soared. She immediately sent a flurry of teasing messages:

Jiang Chuchu: "Whoa, girl! Is this the start of something serious? Did you take him home to meet your parents? Are you planning to skip straight to marriage?"

Lin Xiaohan: "Knock it off! I told you they just got drunk, okay? Now I have to take care of him!"

Jiang Chuchu: "Well, be careful! Don't end up 'taking care' of him too much. Imagine if a little nephew suddenly pops up next year! That'd be hilarious!"

Unable to tolerate such bold teasing, Lin Xiaohan rolled her eyes and sent back a "not listening to you" emoji before turning off her phone to sleep.

The next morning, Jason Liu woke up with a slightly dazed expression. As he glanced around the unfamiliar room, he quickly checked his clothes. Apart from his coat, everything else was intact. He let out a breath of relief.

Lin Xiaohan stood nearby, watching him with an annoyed expression. "I'm not worried about you bringing wolves into the house. I'm worried about what kind of wolf you are!"

Jason scratched his head awkwardly and muttered, "I'm really sorry, Lin Xiaohan. I didn't mean to impose like this. I didn't think a little drinking with your dad would get me so drunk. I ended up staying the night at your place… By the way, did I say anything strange after I got drunk?"

Jason's face was full of nervousness as he looked at her, trying to recall the hazy memories of the previous night.

Lin Xiaohan's lips twitched slightly. She remembered how this "big oaf" had gotten so friendly with her father after drinking, even calling him "brother" and trying to act like family. Suppressing the urge to laugh, she simply blinked and said calmly, "No, you didn't say anything. After you and my dad got drunk, you both fell asleep and couldn't be woken up."

"Oh, good. That's a relief!" Jason let out a sigh, secretly thanking his lucky stars that he hadn't spilled any embarrassing secrets. He silently vowed to never drink so much again.

Just then, Lin Ma called out from the living room, telling them that breakfast was ready.

Jason quickly freshened up in the bathroom while enduring Lin Xiaohan's amused glances.

When he joined Lin Ma at the dining table, Jason greeted her politely. Not seeing Lin Xiaohan's father, he asked, "Where's Uncle?"

Lin Ma, with her usual warm smile, replied, "Don't worry about him. He drank too much last night and is still sleeping it off. You should eat first so you can head to work."

Jason nodded, deciding it was best to avoid another awkward encounter with Lin Xiaohan's father. He focused on finishing breakfast quickly.

After the meal, Jason and Lin Xiaohan left the house together. Once they got into Jason's car, he let out a relieved sigh, grateful to escape the situation.

The car ride was unusually quiet. Jason felt a little embarrassed, still replaying last night's events in his head. Lin Xiaohan, on the other hand, seemed deep in thought as she stared out the window.

When they reached the company, Jason glanced at Lin Xiaohan and said, "We're here." But to his surprise, she didn't move.

Jason frowned slightly and reminded her, "Lin Xiaohan, we've arrived at the company."

Lin Xiaohan hesitated. She was locked in an internal debate, wondering if she should ask the question that had been on her mind.

Noticing her hesitation, Jason sensed that something was off. The atmosphere in the car felt heavy and… strangely tense.

Finally, Lin Xiaohan turned to face him. Her usually composed expression was replaced by a blush that spread across her cheeks. Avoiding direct eye contact, she asked softly, "Jason… what do you think of me?"

Jason froze, completely caught off guard by the question. His throat felt dry, and his heart started racing.

Lin Xiaohan, even shyer than before, quickly turned her gaze forward, not daring to look at him again. Her ears were bright pink.

Jason's mind went blank for a moment. Then, feeling the weight of her question, he stammered, "W-Well… Of course, I think you're very beautiful. You were the school beauty back in the day. Every guy in our class thought so."

Lin Xiaohan's blush deepened as she lowered her head. With a shy smile, she asked, "Did that include you?"

Jason hesitated briefly, afraid to be too blunt. But when she turned to look at him, her gaze was so earnest that he couldn't hold back.

"Yes," he admitted.

The words left his mouth before he could stop himself. His face turned crimson, and he quickly looked away, gripping the steering wheel tightly to steady his nerves.

Lin Xiaohan smiled softly. Seeing Jason's nervous yet honest reaction, she felt her heart flutter.

Jason, meanwhile, was internally panicking. What is happening? Is my single life really about to end?
