Galaxy Domination Guide

Chapter 560: 547 Ding Chen Stargate

The vast Galaxy's second quadrant, where people simply divide the Galaxy into four quadrants using the simplest of mathematical methods. Although these quadrants are rarely used in daily life to locate positions, because the area where people live is really small compared to the enormity of the Galaxy.

The two star zones where the Star Alliance began, the Bubble Star Region and the Xunyi Star Zone, are located within the Great Star Zone of the Orion Arm, which is split by the Galaxy's X-axis into the second and third quadrants, with both star zones in the third quadrant. The Orion Arm is approximately 10,000 light-years long and about 3,500 light-years wide, considered one of the most important spiral arms of the Galaxy.

For many civilizations, entire lifetimes might be spent never leaving the Orion Arm. Only High-Level Civilizations continuously break through their travel technology to reach farther boundaries.

At the upper boundary of the Orion Arm Great Star Zone (people often call the first and second quadrants "upper," and the third and fourth quadrants "lower"), a sizable fleet slowly emerged from within the Stargate built by the Solitary Civilization, members of the Galactic High Governance Council.

The Solitary people, with six huge eyes distributed around their front, back, left, and right and bodies resembling a gigantic radish, guarded this transportation hub shared by High-Level Civilizations of the Galactic Council.

"It's really discomforting. The Star Alliance's expansion has been too rapid these past few years. After they defeated the three major enslavers, they not only completely took over the enslavers' territories, but they also attacked Mid-level Civilizations, and incorporated planets that were not part of Interstellar Civilizations. If the High Council had not forced them to eventually sign an accord, they probably would have continued to absorb those native planetary civilizations," said Kejili, the Garrison Commander of the Stargate, from the Solitary Civilization.

His deputy, Sang Laipi, also nodded continuously, "Originally, both star zones they inhabited were considered sparse material belts, with nothing worth coveting, but who knew they actually held value. Now the lower Orion Arm has essentially marked the limits of their influence, while in the Upper Orion Arm, as many as six High-Level Civilizations keep each other in check. One can only say that those Primate Clan members are incredibly fortunate."

Both Solitary generals knew that a factor that could not be ignored in the Star Alliance's rapid expansion was the incorporation of a large number of planets and forces of the Lower Orion Arm's Primate Clan. Even though these Primate Clans might have vastly different genetics, to the point where they could not interbreed, at least they looked similar and could learn each other's languages. The dominance of the Star Alliance also caused some native civilizations and Lower Civilizations to align with them, making the Star Alliance even more formidable.

Kejili still looked down upon this rapidly emerging civilization, saying, "Just over twenty years, and it rose by grafting civilizations, a civilization like that has unstable foundations."

By this time, the Star Alliance's fleet had completely emerged from the Stargate, and upon seeing the impressive fleet, Kejili couldn't help but exclaim, "But such military might does force us to take them seriously."

The Solitary Civilization was actually very reluctant to allow the 95th Legion of the Star Alliance to use the Ding Chen Stargate to enter the border area of the Upper Orion Arm. This was a traditional control area of the Solitary Civilization, where they even had an Administrative Star used for maintaining and supplying the Stargate.

Actually, neither the Solitary Civilization nor the Star Alliance possessed the technology for Stargates. Stargate technology came from several other civilizations within the Galactic Council, and 12,000 years ago, spearheaded by a few High-Level Civilizations in cooperation with the then newly-formed Council, they began constructing Stargates at crucial locations throughout the Galaxy to facilitate the travel of various civilizations.

A Stargate is a form of travel with a higher threshold than warp speed, which, after spatial anchoring, allows for instant transport from one Stargate to another, regardless of whether the two locations are one light-year or ten thousand light-years apart—it's instantaneous.

Of course, the energy and resources consumed by using a Stargate are also incredibly vast, far surpassing the capabilities of warp speed. However, for long-distance travel, Stargates offer conveniences that warp speed does not.

Such a superlative travel technology, which could benefit many civilizations, is not accessible to all civilizations in the Galactic Council. Only High-Level Civilizations within the Council can use Stargates, and the energy and resources each use of the Stargate consumes are too substantial for ordinary Mid-Level Civilizations to afford.

After joining the Council, the Star Alliance also constructed a Stargate in the Xunyi Star Zone to facilitate trade and diplomatic interactions with other High-Level Civilizations. As long as a planet is near a Stargate, it becomes a hub of trade and exchange much like a carnival. Not only people from High-Level Civilizations but also merchants from other civilizations gather on these planets, looking for opportunities. Although they cannot pass through the Stargates, they can take on goods brought from tens of thousands of light-years away by High-Level Civilizations and resell them elsewhere.

Theoretically, the managing side of any Stargate cannot refuse other High-Level Civilizations' requests to use the Stargate, even if it involves the large-scale deployment of troops. This also reflects the fact that the construction of Stargates by High-Level Civilizations inherently has a strong military aspect; they deploy fleets through Stargates to occupy space and suppress dissenters.

The Star Alliance's 95th Legion passing through the Ding Chen Stargate had applied in advance to the Solitary side, which had no grounds to deny their passage but could reinforce their defenses. Although wars between High-Level Civilizations are unlikely, historical precedents for such conflicts do exist.

Kejili, with a body like a large radish, extended a root-like hand from his body. In biological terms, individuals from the Solitary Civilization have severely regressed; they possess exceptional intelligence and even some special abilities, but their motor neurons have practically devolved.

Kejili pressed a communicator in front of him and said to Lai Zhicun, the commander of the passing Star Alliance's 95th Legion, "Welcome to the Solitary, Commander."

A lack of spirit and emotion came through the communicator from Lai Zhicun, "Thank you for the warm welcome, Garrison Commander. However, we're on a mission and cannot linger here. We'll offer our apologies when we return."

Kejili was puzzled by the Earthlings of the Star Alliance, who seemed to be in such a hurry, and asked, "May I know your destination?"

After a moment of silence, Lai Zhicun from the other end of the communicator answered, "The Wilds of the Galaxy."

Kejili was greatly shaken and perplexed, he thought to himself disdainfully, "Have these Earthlings gone mad? To venture into the Wilds of the Galaxy, which is the graveyard of great civilizations, countless civilizations' conquest fleets have been buried there. And even if the Star Alliance could conquer that place, given that their main sphere of influence is at least 9,000 light-years away, what good would it do them?"
