Chapter 366: 357 Agreement
Confronted with the man, Bai Zhongqi still found him to be very thorny. As an unfathomable master of the Star Warriors, who had a profound understanding of star energy, Bai Zhongqi knew it to be the most unreasonable yet most logical thing in the universe. One should never underestimate any Star Warrior, for they are utterly unpredictable.
Bai Zhongqi nevertheless decided to talk openly and honestly with him. He said, "Mr. Hu, according to what you said, you've been drifting in the universe for over a hundred years, the hardship of which we cannot imagine. Your ship is heading toward a nebula and will inevitably be destroyed by the material outbursts within it. Therefore, if you allow us, we can take you away from this ship, or tow the ship away from its original orbit."
Hu smiled and replied, "I am aware that entering that colorful light will doom this ship. However, I believe I have the capability to protect this ship through the danger."
Bai Zhongqi then asked, "Mr. Hu, what are your plans for the future?"
As Hu tended to his cultivated crops, he said, "Living alone isn't bad, but after so long it's time to draw the line. I was born on Taoran Star, yet I have never been anywhere else. Perhaps it wouldn't be bad to go somewhere else for a change."
With that said, it only made sense for Bai Zhongqi to offer, "Mr. Hu, I'm not sure if you would be interested in accepting my employment. Our Iridium Star Earth civilization occupies vast expanses of the starry sky, with dozens of planets, and interacts with different civilizations across the universe. If you are indeed interested in traveling around, joining our civilization would be most suitable."
Bai Zhongqi did harbor doubts about Hu but, after all, he had the assistance of two master Star Warriors and the backing of an entire civilization. Although Hu was powerful, he did not pose such a great threat.
Hu shook his head and said, "I don't want to be a soldier or mercenary for hire anymore, but I could help you out as a friend, and what's more, I wish to come and go as I please."
This request was troubling for Bai Zhongqi. Although theoretically Hu's demand was not excessive, his ability to decipher and intercept quantum signals was indeed unique in the galaxy and of significant value. Such a person, if they turned into an enemy, would pose a great danger.
Seeing the expression on Bai Zhongqi's face, Hu could roughly guess his concerns. With a slight smile, he said, "I can guarantee that I will not do anything to harm the Iridium Star Earth civilization or be an enemy against it."
This assurance was insufficient for Bai Zhongqi. However, he had already decided that should Hu become a real problem, he would take action to deal with this trouble himself.
"Then, I have another presumptuous request and hope you will agree to it."
Bai Zhongqi asked, "What kind of request?"
Looking out the porthole into space, with a gaze as clear as crystal and somewhat vacant, Hu said, "I want to go back to Taoran Star to see what it's like now. A hundred years have passed; has that planet been destroyed?"
Bai Zhongqi was moved, as it wasn't a particularly surprising decision. Although Hu had transcended the realm of ordinary humans, in terms of both longevity and strength, he was still a person born on Taoran Star, with a deep longing for his home planet.
"That is no problem," Bai Zhongqi responded. He was also quite interested to see a planet that had ultimately been destroyed due to human foolishness and greed.
Then well, please allow me a little time. This ship has some precious materials, seeds of plants from Taoran Star, and a gene bank of my compatriots. These should not perish along with this already dead ship."
Bai Zhongqi nodded in agreement, then he and Zero left the greenhouse. Temporarily severing control over the Agent, Bai Zhongqi emerged from deep slumber, shook his head, and sat up from the soft and comfortable chair.
Zero asked, "Do you really intend to take this Hu to Taoran Star? He is a master Star Warrior after all; we will find it difficult to truly control him. There's still a risk in staying with him."
Bai Zhongqi nodded, "You make sense, so I won't go personally. I'll operate an Agent to accompany him instead. I won't even let him board the Sacred Falcon. I'm planning to dispatch a ship to take him there."
Zero breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That would be most appropriate."
Within a radius of several dozen light-years around, there were over forty Star Alliance warships engaged in exploration missions. The closest to the Sacred Falcon was a Cloud Dragon Class heavy cruiser, the Yinglong Cruiser.
In less than two hours, the Yinglong Cruiser had arrived at the location. The Sacred Falcon had already set sail and left this galaxy.
Although Bai Zhongqi had left, he had left behind his and Zero's Agents. Agents don't come equipped with artificial intelligence programs; they only have the subjective consciousness of the controller. When Bai Zhongqi was not operating, he would either put them to sleep or switch them to mechanical mode. In mechanical mode, the Agents are like simple robots that can perform some tasks, but they are not as complex as artificial intelligence.
Aboard the Yinglong Cruiser was another Star Warrior, Nan Ma.
Nan Ma was not originally on this ship, but when he heard the Chancellor had gone for a trip and even picked up a master Star Warrior, he marveled at the Chancellor's unreasonable luck and was also very interested in this master Star Warrior.
When Nan Ma met Hu, he immediately felt the other's strength.
Hu seemed very pleased and said, "Indeed, there are people like me in the universe. As His Excellency the Chancellor told you, you are also a master Star Warrior, aren't you?"
Grinning, Nan Ma replied, "Exactly. I am a master Star Warrior from the Stellar Transmission Academy of the Star Alliance, Nan Ma. Mr. Hu, I am glad to meet you."
Hu nodded, his smile still innocent and cheerful, and he said, "Honestly, when your ship was still kilometers away from us, I was already able to feel the thoughts of everyone on board, not very accurately, but the general idea should be clear. Only you, I can sense your presence but cannot pry into your inner thoughts."
Nan Ma clapped his hands, his face beaming with a smile, "Impressive. Mr. Hu's talent in mental perception, the ability to peer into people's minds, that's indeed remarkable."
Hu inquired, "What about you, Mr. Nan Ma? What is your specialty?"
"Well, I'm not particularly adept at one thing, but if I have to say—" Nan Ma grinned, his hand emanating a fantastical light resembling clouds and mists, he said, "Perhaps fighting is my forte." Read latest stories on My Virtual Library Empire
