Chapter 344: 335 The Final Ultimatum of Chicken Ribs
The representatives from the Order Association dropped their ultimatum and then strode off with an air of arrogance.
But Bai Zhongqi didn't care in the least. Instead, he smiled at Xu Lanzhou and said, "Even their ultimatum is seven Lingge Star days long; these people from the Order Association really aren't resolute at all."
Xu Lanzhou also had little respect for these civilization consortia that lacked discernment, saying, "Such an interstellar civilization organization is simply incapable of achieving anything truly great. Your Majesty, what you said earlier was spot on; these cowards are simply avoiding combat with the Teizene Empire."
Zero also approached Bai Zhongqi's side and asked, "Your Majesty, should we launch an attack on the Order Association's fleet first?"
Bai Zhongqi shook his finger and said, "There's no need for that, if my guess is right, the Order Association won't make a move against us."
Xu Lanzhou agreed with Bai Zhongqi's view and said, "The second wave of the Teizene Fleet led by the Eleventh Prince of Teizene is preparing to come over as well. The Order Association must have this intelligence, so picking a fight with us now and possibly suffering losses would put them at a disadvantage when facing Teizene Fleet later on."
Zero chuckled and added, "These brainless fools, although they have fourteen hundred warships, they come from different civilizations and can hardly be unified into a single fighting force. The second wave of Teizene Fleet consists of more than two thousand warships. Facing the odds against more ships with poorer quality, how can they fight?"
Bai Zhongqi sighed, "In the last battle with Teizene, the Order Association really lost their confidence. They didn't realize Teizene Fleet had technologies like a shield array, and firmly believed they couldn't penetrate the opponent's shields. With their own numbers already lower and lacking in maneuverability, they were wiped out by Teizene in one fell swoop. Although they have now assembled a fleet of greater scale, from top to bottom they don't believe they can win. Under such circumstances, for them to still come out and fight, I don't know whether to call them noble or simply stupid."
Xu Lanzhou's pretty face turned serious as she logically stated, "I believe it's stupidity. It's good to have a sense of justice and a spirit of helping those in danger, but one should choose the right enemy. The Order Association's mistake isn't that they formed an alliance to protect themselves, but in believing that this made them capable of confronting Teizene—that is just idiotic."
Zero chimed in mockingly, "The dumbest part is that they actually think we are lying and consider our civilization to be of a lower level. They lack even basic judgment, yet they hope to stand in the Galaxy—how ridiculous is that?"
This wasn't the first time the Iridium Star Earth civilization was underestimated. The previous misjudgments by the peoples of other planets could be considered even more outrageous. Those peoples were frogs in a well, which was easy to explain, but members of the Order Association's civilizations had developed for hundreds to thousands of years, yet they still couldn't accurately assess the technological level of Iridium Star.
Bai Zhongqi thought that it wasn't really their fault. He had seen many introductions to high-level civilizations on Bupinga Star. Basically, the style of their ships and the power they exhibited were both flashy and formidable, while the Star Alliance revealed very little, and its outward appearance did not reflect its advanced technologies. High-end technologies like second-phase warp speed, antimatter energy devices, and atomic substance construction were not evident from the exterior.
The reason why Caesar and others judged the Iridium Star Earth civilization as not particularly powerful lay with Teizene. If the Iridium Star Earth civilization truly were especially strong, Teizene would not have attracted trouble. Teizene had a history of not provoking civilizations more powerful than itself, and they must have seen an opportunity to act. According to such logic, the Earth civilization could not possibly be a civilization more formidable than Teizene.
The Order Association's fleet believed that coming to the brink of war would be enough to frighten the Star Alliance military, yet Bai Zhongqi remained unperturbed and did not take it seriously. The Chancellor would not be intimidated by the Order Association, nor would he be led by the nose by these people. He continued undisturbed with his planned activities, utilizing the engineering ships brought along and building orbital weapon platforms and other tactical facilities in Lingge Star's orbit. Such a pace of work also truly surprised the Order Association's people, but none realized that the Iridium Star Earth civilization's power far surpassed the Order Association's.
The burden on General Caesar's shoulders grew heavier; he had granted the Earth people seven days of preparation time, expecting them to evacuate Lingge Star completely. Yet, the Earth people showed not the slightest intention to retreat and were even continuously constructing artillery batteries, seemingly prepared to fight a desperate battle.
Caesar actually considered taking on the Star Alliance directly, but other civilizations' representatives within the Order Association were filled with doubts. Although they did not think the Order Association would lose, taking on a civilization that also opposed Teizene and even suffering losses in the process seemed like a bad deal. Moreover, this place was an important forward base on Teizene Empire's trade routes; ultimately, the people of Teizene would make a move, and then the Earth people would not be able to hold it either.
A deadlock arose between the Star Alliance and the Order Association, but at this critical juncture, some others began to get restless.
As Teizene was defeated and the Star Alliance took over Lingge Star, followed by an even larger fleet arriving and taking control of the outer space around Lingge Star—at least that is how some on Lingge Star saw it. After the Star Alliance pushed for Lingge Star to join the Alliance, the division of the spoils was not particularly even, especially for countries like Severi that had followed Teizene, and the terms were somewhat disadvantageous.
Even though the Star Alliance had not yet exerted any direct influence on Lingge Star's local politics, some politicians on Lingge Star believed it was only a matter of time. So, some of them began to make their moves, thinking themselves clever.
On the third day of the ultimatum period, Zero reported to Bai Zhongqi, "We've intercepted over sixty radio wave communications, all attempts by different political forces on Lingge Star to get in touch with the people of the Order Association. Not only do these include groups we have dealt with recently, but even individuals from the new regime of the Yifu Federal Republic."
Bai Zhongqi wasn't surprised, "They're trying to hedge their bets to avoid a no-win situation. At least in their eyes, the Order Association's power is overwhelming, and if we truly engage with the Order Association, the first to suffer would be the people of Lingge Star."
Zero laughed sarcastically, "Even if the Order Association defeated us, could these Lingge people go back to their old lives? The Order Association claims not to interfere with planets that haven't entered interstellar civilization, but who knows what they'll choose to do. Lingge Star has merely exchanged one master for another."
