Chapter 12: VISION
Looking up into the swirling vortex, she saw him.
A man with pure white hair in a blue thick... clothing on his upper body, holding a wooden staff that was curved at the top, with bits of frost here and there on it.
All she could see was the back of his head, not his face, then he turned.
It seemed like he saw her because his lips parted while he looked about her like she was the strange one and not him.
Elsa wanted to say something but she couldn't, it felt like her lips were sealed shut.
Gently, as if he was afraid he would scare her, he walked towards her.
It took him seconds to get close enough to her and he stretched his hand out, reaching to her while she watched him, confused.
But before his fingers could touch her, he faded away, just like that, dissolving into the light.
Then a new image began to form in place of the male, coming together like a scattered image in a rippled up, disturbed water that was now calm.
It was Arendelle, at the back courtyard, a place that hadn't been used since her grand father reigned as king.
But what— who, she noticed more was Anna.
Her sister was on her knees, on the ground, with her head rested on a chopping block.
There was dried up tears on the low frames of her eye sockets and behind her an executioner was holding an axe raised high.
"Anna!" Elsa screamed.
She reached out with both her hands but the image shattered like glass right in front of her.
The vortex above her swirled again, sucking up inside as the elements wiltered in an instant as though they had never been there.
The fire was gone, the water had calmed down, the wind was still, and the earth was silent.
Even her ice receded, and unfreezed, leaving the forest quiet once again.
Elsa collapsed completely to the ground, her pale skin trembled and her chest heaved as she wiped at the blood on her lips.
Nokk approached her carefully, lowering its shiny watery head to nudge her shoulder.
Elsa looked up at him, "I have to go."
Propping her hands on her lap, she stood up, quivering on her legs a bit, and turned to the other spirits.
"Stay here and guard the forest."
There was much or anything else she had to say, her sister was all that was on her mind now.
The spirits watched her quietly, no longer restless as before as they watched Nokk kneel beside her, bending its glowing body low enough to allow her to climb on.
Swinging her legs, Elsa got onto his back, gripping his mane tightly.
"Let's go."
Nokk neighed, rearing up before launching forward, off the dry land and into the river beside them.
His hooves skimmed the surface of the water, leaving glowing trails behind as he and Elsa raced out of the forest.
The trees blurred past in a dark green haze, before they could finally see the open fields and the distant shape of Arendelle.
Elsa bent a bit to reach Nokk's ears, "Move faster Nokk."
'Hold on Anna.'
