Chapter 3: Chapter 3
I release a sigh as another breakthrough is happening, and now I am at the Fifth Layer of Qi Condensation. My qi now forms a lake in my soul realm full of condensed qi I can use for emergencies. The condensed qi is the fuel that indicates how high my cultivation is. I will return to the First Layer of Qi Condensation if I use them all.
After an entire day of cultivation, I am now ready to go to Sol-Falena.
I see the sun slowly rising up, and according to the local sailor, it takes eight hours to reach Sol-Falena from here. I should arrive there just in time for lunch. I leave the inn and put the key to my room on the counter.
"Check out, sir?"
"Yup. I must go to Sol-Falena to ensure I am registered for the preliminary stage."
"Ah! You are a participant in the Sacred Games!"
"Yup. I might look like this, but I am good at close combat, you know?"
She nods and says.
"Of course. Can you wait for a few minutes? I will prepare some breakfast for you."
"That would be appreciated."
After three minutes of waiting, she returned with a box of food.
"Here you go, and good luck."
I nod and leave the inn to walk to the dock. I look at the busy dock and arrive in front of a man offering a ride.
"Hello, good sir! Do you need a ride?"
"Yup. I need a ride to Sol-Falena. I am willing to pay more if you take me there alone."
He looks at me for a few seconds and nods.
"That will be one thousand and seven hundred. It is non-negotiable."
I take out the right amount and give it to him. He counts the money and nods.
"Right! Hop in! We will depart in a minute."
I enter the boat and take a seat as the sailor prepares to depart. While waiting for us to depart, I take out my company phone and open the mission section. I already take on a mission requiring me to ensure the main character survives in the incoming war, but I need more.
After a few seconds of searching, I found what I needed. It is a mission that requires me to be a mercenary in a war between two or more factions. The main goal? Win the war. I get forty points by accepting the mission and another forty when I win the war.
I immediately pick the mission side with the Main Character. What? It is something that already has the same direction as my first mission. I immediately opened the catalog with forty new points in my bank. Nope. I am not buying waifu. I am buying something that lets me get more potions.
I decided to buy [Target Tracker] for ten points because it lets me mark something using my phone and also opens up the next perk, [Bounty Tracker]. It will cost me another fifty for this, but I am getting there. I need twenty more points to get that perk, and I know Sol-Falena has a few targets I can stamp.
I look down and see a red tendril coming out of my hand. I smile a little and pat it.
"Soon. Soon, I need your power."
It wiggles at my touch before entering my body once again. That is my Armor from the CYOA. It is a parasite that will continue to live in my body, and in return, it will create armor around my body. Coming with it are a bunch of perks. The first one is a boost to my physical strength and regeneration. Not only that, it also lets me access the internet in the world where the internet exists. It also can shoot a projectile that can be lethal or nonlethal, depending on what I need. It also has a force field to block an incoming attack and a stealth field that lets me hide.
With this, I can sneak around and stamp someone without a problem. I think for a second at that and open the Talent section. I buy a [Covert Talent] to get me better at sneaking around. It needs ten points but will be great in the long run.
While at this, I look at the rest of the talent and pick [Soul Talent] and [Martial Talent] for ten points each. It will increase my ability to learn magic and martial arts. I am glad to take on that mission because I know I can win the preliminary stage with this.
"We are departing!"
I snap from my thoughts when the sailor shouts, and we depart for Sol-Falena.
===||===
"And you are done. You need to return here in three days. Remember, we will start at nine in the morning. If you are even a minute late, you will be disqualified."
I nod and say.
"I understand."
I take back my participant plate and leave the barrack. What should I do now? I can continue my cultivation in this place because the massive amount of Fire Qi in the air will help me. As a perfect body to cultivate, I can absorb all kinds of Qi and heavenly energies without any problem. Among them is Fire Qi. I know this amount of Fire Qi is because of the presence of the Sun Rune, a Rune that embodies the Sun itself.
However, before doing that, I must visit the local rune shop. A rune is not like a rune on earth. It is not a language that uses symbols to form words but rather a crystal that symbolizes power. A rune is something that lets people access a primal power of the world. Fire Rune will grant you limited control over fire and give you spells that you can use to a certain number each day.
However, the rune is not what I want at the moment. No. I want to see the owner of the rune shop because she is one of the targets in the catalog. She is a powerful mage with a beautiful face and a killer body. It is even better when she is a Tier-5 target that will give me twenty-two points.
With that in mind, I walk to the western side of Sol-Falena to reach the Rune Shop. While walking, I look around the beautiful city and absorb the Fire Qi to increase my fire affinity. This place is truly beautiful. A city in the middle of a massive river will also be full of life because of the power of the Sun Rune. What does that mean? That means the land around this city will be VERY fertile, and the fish in the river will keep breeding, be more nutritious, and grow faster. This is the nurturing side of Sun Rune because the Sun is the source of life. Sadly, it also has a darker side and has already been unleashed multiple times.
I shake my head and snap from my thoughts when I arrive in front of the Rune Shop. As I get closer, I can feel a powerful person inside the room. I know my target is inside the room.
I open the door and see a beautiful woman behind the counter. She smiles and looks at me. However, when her eyes land on me, her smile turns into shock and she says,
"What are you?"
