Then the ground rumbled as the troops moved in, marching in unison to the war drum's beat.

The disciples on the wall could see hundreds of soldiers slowly approaching the military post, occupying the clearing in front of it.

"Ready!" At the command of the officers, archers armed their bows, and the arrows glowed with their Qi being injected into them.

"Fire!"

A volley of arrows shot into the air, slowly coming toward the military outpost's walls.

"Watch out!" The disciples wielded their swords and weapons, trying to repel the arrows.

Those who weren't fast enough were shot through by the arrows.

All around the military outpost were groans and cries of pain.

Wooden structures that were huge ladders were pushed toward the wall.

"Stop them!" One of the disciples shouted and, with his sword engulfed in flames, wielded it at the ladders.

The flames shot at one of the ladders, and it caught fire.

Other disciples quickly followed suit, wielding their techniques against the ladders.

Cultivators on the troops' side quickly set up a formation array in front of the ladders.

Shortly after, a white glowing protection wall appeared in front of the ladders.

The fires and slicing waves wielded from the disciples on the wall dissipated as they hit the protective wall.

By now, the archers were ready for another volley of fire.

"Fire!" The commander of the archers shouted.

Arrows rained down onto the disciples again.

This time, the same thing happened; more casualties were brought upon the disciples.

"I've had enough!" Zhao Qing Ying shouted as he leaped from the wall and charged at the troops.

Qing Yang Zi instinctively wanted to stop him but kept quiet after lifting his hand.

They were cultivators, and trying to play soldiers wasn't their Dao, Zhao Qing Ying had told him.

And looking at what was happening, he realized Zhao Qing Ying was right.

Troops that were behind the ladder structures fell and landed on the troops on the ground.

The troops were sliced in half or decapitated, depending on whether they were standing or had fallen from the ladder.

The commander of the troops, Xiao Di, then glanced over at the cultivator standing next to him.

The cultivator, Lee Hin, was in a red robe and had a ghastly pale white face, with the lower half of his face covered by a veil made of copper coins.

He was a Ghost Cultivator.

Lee Hin raised his hand and threw out a net at Zhao Qing Ying.

The net, which was red in color, had yellow talismans bound on it, cast itself onto Zhao Qing Ying.

Zhao Qing Ying, who was busy dealing with the arrows, dodged in the nick of time.

Boom.

When the net landed on the ground, it caused an explosion, and the plants surrounding it began to wither and die.

"Ready!" The commander of the archers shouted his command again.

But before he could shout the next command, the Qing Feng sword flew at him, and he was decapitated instantly.

The Qing Feng Sword didn't stop, and it continued its path, going through the archers as if they were made of tofu.

Havoc ensued as the archers started to disperse, trying to keep themselves alive.

Now with the archers out of the way, it was time to deal with Lee Hin and the commander, Xiao Di.

Troops that came up to Zhao Qing Ying got bashed by his wine gourd as they tried to stop him.

Lee Hin smirked as he took out his artifact.

A head, with its eyes closed, as if it was asleep.

Its size was abnormally small, shrunk to the size of a fist.

Zhao Qing Ying raised his hand and swiped it across, sending out a slicing wave at Lee Hin.

The head's eyes opened, and the slicing wave disappeared.

That took Zhao Qing Ying by surprise.

He, as a manifestation, wasn't as powerful, but it must have been at least a Heavenly Level artifact to be able to stop his slicing wave.

Lee Hin smirked again, and the head opened its mouth.

Whoosh.

It shot out a slicing wave at Zhao Qing Ying.
