Forced Me to Regress, Huh?

Chapter 30: It Doesn't Matter

In the eyes of others, Cheng Zhu and Shen Minglang were whispering to each other, discussing major plans!

The reality of Cheng Zhu and Shen Minglang: “Cousin, I’m rebellious. Do as you see fit.”

—There’s a mole. No more heart-to-heart communication!

Shen Minglang, with his single-lidded eyes, now had his eyes wide open in disbelief. “Cousin, why are you doing this to me?”

The most confusing part was that he couldn’t figure out what Cheng Zhu wanted to do.

I know Lin Lu is a campus goddess, and it would be strange if an adolescent boy like you isn’t tempted.

But Cousin, I’ve been really open with you. I’ve shared my experience in picking up girls with you.

Why don’t you believe me? You should let Lin Lu join the other team. I guarantee things will go better than if she’s in ours.

Fuck, boys in puberty are so stupid. I can’t even teach him! Shen Minglang cursed inwardly.

Then again, if he doesn’t experience more now, how can he ever catch up to me? He suddenly began feeling smug.

“Fine, whatever. It’s like it’s your birthday today. But I’m not doing this because you threatened me! Who made you my cousin?” Shen Minglang grumbled.

Cheng Zhu patted his chest and pointed at Shen Minglang, looking like they were close brothers.

Throughout it all, they had never once discussed whether to recruit Jiang Wanzhou for their team.

He was simply forgotten, left in the corner.

Shen Minglang went back to playing rock, paper, scissors with Liu Hongjing. This time, he won. “Lin Lu! I choose Lin Lu!”

The voice actress was stunned for a moment, not expecting that she really wouldn’t be on the same team as Ningning.

“That’s fine. I’ll get my brother to help you drink later,” Shen Qingning said softly, already starting to arrange everything.

“What’s that supposed to mean? We’re not guaranteed to lose. I’m pretty good too!” Lin Lu protested, clearly lacking self-awareness.

Liu Hongjing, whose status was lower than Shen Minglang’s, actually wanted to pick Lin Lu for his team. After all, she was a heavenly goddess who could match Shen Qingning.

While everyone was a bit intimidated by Shen Qingning, this young voice actress was genuinely adorable. She was full of youthful charm, her smile revealing lovely dimples.

As the captain of the opposing team, Liu Hongjing couldn’t fathom what Shen Minglang was thinking.

First, he picks a high school graduate noob, then a girl who’s clearly inexperienced. What is this? Gathering cannon fodder? Liu Hongjing thought that Shen Minglang must be thirsty and looking for an excuse to drink.

Liu Hongjing won the next three rounds of rock-paper-scissors and chose all the most skilled dice players present.

Shen Minglang’s expression instantly darkened.

“Hey! What’s wrong with my hand today? Why do I keep losing?” he muttered incredulously.

But he really did keep losing.

With each of Liu Hongjing’s wins, a wave of playful jeering erupted from the crowd, as his team had now gained a clear numerical advantage!

This was one of the fun aspects of the game World War—uneven team sizes.

It was rare for someone to be as unlucky as Shen Minglang, but situations like this did happen.

Cheng Zhu had once played in a game where his team only had two people facing eight on the other.

By the end, out of the 12 participants, only our CEO Little Jiang was left unchosen.

Liu Hongjing, either out of pity for the birthday boy or as a subtle dig at Jiang Wanzhou, waved his fat hand and said, “Since it’s your birthday today, CEO Little Jiang goes to your team. No need for rock, paper, scissors!”

—A freebie.

He couldn’t care less about Jiang Wanzhou, who was hopelessly bad at games and couldn’t hold his liquor.

He wanted Jiang Wanzhou to go to the other team so he could drink him under the table!

I’ll make this damn sissy end up hugging the toilet bowl and puking later, Liu Hongjing thought.

Jiang Wanzhou felt really uncomfortable now. He wanted to be on the same team as Cheng Zhu, but their side only had four people, while the opposite team had eight. It was practically a guaranteed loss.

He and Lin Lu were purely cannon fodder, utterly useless.

Some might be terrible at dice games, but they could hold their liquor!

All those fancy techniques were all fleeting clouds. It was all about sheer drinking capacity!

But heavy drinking was out of the question for him…

Sitting beside Cheng Zhu, Lin Lu kept muttering, “I’m doomed, I’m doomed, I’m doomed…”

Her hands clutched the hem of her skirt and balled into fists.

Cheng Zhu stayed as composed as ever.

He glanced at Lin Lu and thought she was genuinely adorable. He wasn’t sure if it was because she did so much voice acting or if it was her natural personality. At times, she spoke like a narrator, and at other times, she would unconsciously voice her inner thoughts aloud.

Liu Hongjing said, “Let’s stick to the old rules. Once the teams are picked, both sides will go through five rounds of PK before we switch members.”

The bespectacled man next to him jeered, “Brother Lang, you might as well surrender now. Same old rule. Surrender, and you only lose half!”

“What does that mean?” Lin Lu was confused.

Just as Cheng Zhu was about to answer, Jiang Wanzhou jumped in. “It means each of us will grab a napkin and wave it like a white flag to surrender to their team. The game ends there, and we only need to drink half of the penalty.”

“Huh? We actually have to hold a napkin and wave it like a white flag?” Lin Lu thought it was too humiliating.

But she felt a little conflicted.

With only four people on their team, it meant the other side’s eight people would share the penalty drinks, while their side would have to split it among just four.

Playing five consecutive rounds would get them dead drunk.

However, Shen Minglang wasn’t one to back down, especially not on his birthday. Getting him to wave a white flag?

Is that auspicious? I’m asking you, is that auspicious?

“Hey, what are you shouting for?! Stop talking! The four of us will still take you down!” Shen Minglang, as the captain, made the decision with confidence.

According to the rules, the two captains had to face off first. Shen Minglang came aggressively with an imposing aura, his eyes like thunder, his fingers as quick as lightning. In the end, he cursed and lost.

“Crap! I screwed up! I’m not playing well today!” Shen Minglang collapsed in frustration.

“It’s your turn.” Cheng Zhu patted Jiang Wanzhou, signaling him to go next.

Jiang Wanzhou snorted, his dice-shaking motion extremely enchanting, his eyes brimming with resentment. Then he lost spectacularly.

Throughout the entire game, Lin Lu kept alternating her gaze between her team and the opposing team, her head shaking like a rattle drum. It was obvious she was nervous.

When Jiang Wanzhou called out “Three 3s,” she couldn’t help but chant along, “Three 3s!”

When Liu Hongjing shouted “Three 6s,” she couldn’t help but repeat, “Three 6s!”

Cheng Zhu found it amusing to listen to her, who sounded like a broken record.

He picked up a piece of watermelon from the fruit platter and began eating it without a care.

Seeing his calm demeanor, Lin Lu couldn’t help but say, “How can you just eat by yourself?!”

“You want some? Here!” Cheng Zhu handed her a piece.

“No…” Lin Lu was momentarily speechless, but seeing how sweet the watermelon looked, she unconsciously reached for it.

Meanwhile, Liu Hongjing wore a smug grin and prodded, “Who’s next?”

In his opinion, Shen Minglang was the only one on the other team worth worrying about.

Once Shen Minglang was out, he was confident his team could crush the rest of them.

He looked around at the four of them. Their expressions were: breakdown—breakdown—having fun—breakdown.

Hmm? How did something strange slip in?

Cheng Zhu, I think you’re courting death.

And so, Liu Hongjing said, “Brother Lang, according to the usual rules, we play doubles in World War!”

He even said the word doubles in English.

“What… what does that mean?” Lin Lu asked softly.

“It means if he beats all of us alone, we have to drink double,” Cheng Zhu replied calmly.

“Huh?” She was stunned.

He looked at her large, expressive eyes and smiled. “How about you go next? As long as you beat him, at least we won’t have to drink double.

“Come on, you can do it.” He cheered her on.

Lin Lu sat on the PK seat with a serious expression. She held the dice cup tightly with both hands and shook it with all her might, so hard that her face was visibly tense with the effort.

It was as if the harder she shook, the more likely the dice would land in her favor.

Lin Lu looked at her dice, furrowed her delicate brow, and called out, “Three 4s!”

She was a complete beginner, so she simply announced whatever the dice showed.

Liu Hongjing responded decisively, “I’ll raise that, four 4s!”

He answered quickly, as if he hadn’t given it any thought, giving Lin Lu the impression that he must have a few 4s himself.

“Then… five 4s?” she said, asking the other party with uncertainty.

Liu Hongjing stared at her flawless face for a moment before saying, “Open! I don’t have any 4s!”

Lin Lu: “???”

She was so angry that she kept slapping Cheng Zhu’s arm. “Cheng Zhu, he lied to me. He doesn’t have any 4s! Ahhh! He doesn’t even have one 4, but he still called out four 4s!”

Seeing her slightly aggrieved expression, Liu Hongjing felt his heart melt. He immediately said, “Ahem, well, that’s just how this game works. I’ll teach you later.”

But Lin Lu wasn’t listening to a word he said.

—Not listening, not listening, like a turtle chanting scriptures.

“How about we surrender?!” she suddenly suggested.

“No, you can’t surrender in the middle of the game,” the bespectacled man said.

Lin Lu looked at Cheng Zhu, feeling that they were probably doomed.

If Cheng Zhu lost to him too, then they’d have to drink twice as much alcohol.

“What do we do, Cheng Zhu? What do we do? There are still eight of them,” Lin Lu said softly.

Cheng Zhu looked at her, grinned, and said in a calm tone that everyone could hear, “It doesn’t matter. I’ll do it.”
