Forced Me to Regress, Huh?

Chapter 19: Your Rank Isn't High Enough

Hearing what Cheng Zhu said, Wang Anquan didn’t quite understand at first.

But he wasn’t foolish. He was just a bit naive when it came to emotions. After thinking about it, he understood.

Cheng Zhu thought, Actually, this has something to do with the era. It’s 2014 now, and there are still many fools in love.

In the future, whether it’s due to the bombardment of information online or changes in the social atmosphere, although the number of fools won’t decrease, many people will understand certain truths.

For example, concepts like licking dog, warm-hearted guy, and spare tire.

Of course, for some people, they might say: I understand all that, but it doesn’t stop me from being a fool in love.

Wang Anquan finally caught on and asked, “Brother Zhu, do you mean Rongrong might still be in contact with other guys?”

Cheng Zhu didn’t answer directly but instead asked, “What do you think?”

Wang Anquan opened his mouth and wanted to deny it, but in the end, he simply said weakly, “Maybe… maybe it was like that before.”

Then he raised his head and added with a hint of stubbornness, “But it’s different this time. She’s been the one looking for me every day these past few days. A girl who takes the initiative to chat with you and asks about your plans every day, this… this has to mean something, right?”

“Mean something, your head.” Cheng Zhu looked at him speechlessly.

He had caught an important piece of information from what Wang Anquan said when he first boarded the train. Chen Rongrong had asked him if he had gotten on the train.

Therefore, Cheng Zhu asked, “Did you tell Chen Rongrong that you’re going out with me?”

“Uh, yeah.” Wang Anquan didn’t deny it.

Speaking of which, he was indeed an honest person. He had simply told Chen Rongrong that Cheng Zhu wanted to get into e-commerce,  and they were going out together to look for suppliers.

If he were a typical teenage boy, he might have boasted, “We’re looking to do some e-commerce together. Us two brothers are going to check out some suppliers.”

It’s not too much for me to use my good brother’s venture to show off, right?

Hearing Wang Anquan’s reply, Cheng Zhu roughly understood why Chen Rongrong had been looking for him.

The reason was simple. Just after the World Cup finals, Chen Rongrong had contacted Cheng Zhu.

At first, she had approached him under the pretense of being concerned about his relationship with Li Xinyue.

However, after he warned her not to bring up this topic again, she naturally took advantage of the situation and didn’t mention Li Xinyue again. Instead, she kept finding topics to chat about with him, and from time to time, she used some tricks that girls her age thought were clever.

For example, she might suddenly say, “Wait, I’m going downstairs to pick up a package. My new camisole nightgown is here.”

A few minutes later, she would send him a picture of the opened package to show him the design.

In a flirty situation, the boy could take the opportunity to say suggestively, “Why not try it on and send me a pic?”

Has anyone encountered people like this during their school days, or were you that kind of person yourself—wanting to date a friend’s ex?

She was quite flattering towards Cheng Zhu, saying he was awesome for earning in one night what would take others two years to make.

She even hinted that Yueyue didn’t know how to cherish him.

Chen Rongrong’s intentions were too obvious.

Eventually, Cheng Zhu grew tired of replying to her on WeChat and just ignored her.

Even so, he found that every time he scrolled through Moments, he would always see her posts.

They ranged from overly edited selfies to sharing songs and snippets of her daily life, along with hints about how boring her summer was and her desire to travel… In short, she posted frequently.

If Cheng Zhu had any ulterior motives, he could just invite her to travel together.

He had always believed that if someone’s social media posts, which were typically only visible for a few days, suddenly became unrestricted, or if someone who hadn’t posted in months suddenly began posting frequently, these changes often hinted at something deeper.

So he blocked Chen Rongrong’s posts. Damn it, what a waste of my data.

What left him the most speechless was that he could always see Wang Anquan’s likes and comments under those posts.

Out of sight, out of mind.

But I still underestimated her patience. She’s even using a roundabout tactic and asking Wang Anquan. Cheng Zhu felt like rolling his eyes like Jiang Wanzhou.

The train started moving. He looked at Wang Anquan and finally asked. “When she chats with you, does she ever mention Li Xinyue?”

Wang Anquan nodded. “Brother Zhu, how did you guess? She often says that Li Xinyue’s attitude towards you was wrong. She wouldn’t be like that. She thinks girls should understand boys and not always act like princesses…”

The young man kept talking, but Cheng Zhu was no longer listening.

Looks like this little girl has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. She’s even developing a messenger at my side. Cheng Zhu was almost certain of Chen Rongrong’s intentions.

If I hadn’t told Wang Anquan not to mention Li Xinyue around me, I’m afraid her aggrandizing comments would have reached my ears long ago.

How can I not know her personality? She’s just as bad as Li Xinyue, if not worse.

She’s only playing to my likes because she knows what I dislike about Li Xinyue.

Most heartbroken boys wouldn’t be able to withstand her.

But with his level of tea appreciation, he could only think, Mid-grade green tea. (TL note: women who present themselves as sweet, innocent, and kind to attract men they find useful, especially in terms of money or power, but in fact, they are manipulative and calculating.)

Cheng Zhu opened his backpack and took out a large piece of bubblegum.

Wang Anquan wanted to have some, but Cheng Zhu refused ruthlessly. “My sister gave it to me. You wish.”

While chewing on the slightly too-sweet bubble gum, he said, “Anquan, let’s be honest with each other. Deep down, do you think Chen Rongrong is a good girl?”

Wang Anquan’s answer was beyond Cheng Zhu’s expectations. “Not really.”

He had occasionally heard some gossip about Chen Rongrong.

“Fuck, your awareness is surprisingly high. I underestimated you.” Cheng Zhu patted him.

Wang Anquan raised his head in confusion and pointed at Cheng Zhu’s phone. “But Brother Zhu, you seriously wrote it down in your notes. Don’t let down good girls, don’t waste bad girls.”

Cheng Zhu felt a chill in his heart and grumbled inwardly, Damn it, it turns out you’re not unaware but a little too aware!

This line is for my eyes only, not for you. It’s my notes, not yours.

So you plan not to waste a bad girl, huh?

Cheng Zhu wanted to stand up and applaud him.

But he had seen too many boys digging their own graves.

Some started off thinking, “I’m just playing around,” but ended up getting more attached than anyone else and becoming more stubbornly obsessed than anyone else!

There are too many people like this. If you don’t have the ability to withdraw at any moment, then be prepared to be manipulated by the other person, Cheng Zhu thought.

He never expected Wang Anquan to attempt such a leap in personal growth.

Therefore, he said earnestly, “You should have a normal relationship first. At your rank, you’re just stubborn bronze. You can’t even handle silvers, yet you still fucking think you can get a free ride?”
