Final Messiah System

David and the others trekked across the landscape full of rubble and greenery.

If anyone would look at them, it would appear as if they were in a post apocalypse-like setting with all the ruined vehicles and decrepit buildings lying around.

Every so often, he could hear the ground below crack softly, only held together by moss and grass vines.

"…Hey Thamiel, can you also scan around and see if anything strange is here?"

"I already am, only faint traces of demonic energy so far but it seems to simply permeate across the land. The culprit might lie further ahead."

"Huh, got it, well at least there's nothing sneaking up on us so far."

He took one more good look around before he heard the orb speak again. "We will be heading towards the center of the complex, there's a chance we might be seeing the other parties, if we do, we ask them if they found anything suspicious as well."

They all nodded while following the orb of Antonio deeper into the complex, squeezing through the spaces in between buildings and rushing through rubble.

Aelwanna followed from behind, handling the rear while David and Mary were in the middle.

"It's exciting isn't it?" Mary held her staff by her side, an arcane focus to help her cast more powerful spells. 

"We're actually doing a mission for once!" She smiled from ear to ear, her head swaying back and forth.

David couldn't help but smile from her enthusiasm. "Yeah, we're actually going on a quest, an adventure with a party and everything… fighting demons."

Aelwenna snorted in the background, chuckling a little. "So this is the kind of people joining up now? Can't say I didn't figure it would happen so fast, just can't believe we've become so desperate."

The other two stayed quiet from her remark, David just sighed internally while Mary looked away almost dejectedly.

However, their spirits were quickly ignited from Antonio's next few words. "Ah I feel a sudden spike of energy! Everyone be on your guard now! I will try to scan the area of movement."

Immediately Ma,ry raised her wooden staff while David pulled out a holy shotgun. 

He would have gotten a rifle but shotguns are a lot more effective and efficient in urban warfare. David also had a few grenades and honestly laughed at how much he was packing.

It felt like he was more of a soldier than any kind of cleric.

Aelwenna on the other hand acted like neither as she continued to walk along as if she heard nothing at all, she didn't even reach out to the spear by her back.

However, there wasn't enough time to think about that as David heard Thamiel's voice ring in his head.

"Movement detected to the west. Maintain caution."

Instinctively, David turned to the right where a large ruined building stood, slightly leaning over on its side while covered with vines.

Mary looked at him curiously. "Did you see something strange? What's wrong?"

"Uh, yeah- I think-"

Antonio's voice yelled out to the rest of them. "Watch out! Something is approaching-"

Suddenly the building's wall broke open as a large frog demon with bat-like wings emerged, attempting to pounce on David.

However, since he was prepared, he simply shot it right in its stomach, pumping it full of holy and purified silver strong enough to blow it up into tiny little chunks that crashed into the wall breaking it apart before it disappeared into mist.

"More incoming, they're going to be all around you now."

Thamiel's responses came faster than Antonio's warnings as the orb flew right in the middle. 

"Energy readings are growing all around, get ready for more incoming forces! I'll try to highlight them."

"Increasing perception output, manifesting Statistics to the demons."

Suddenly, a pulse of red light burst forth from the orb above, casting the area in a small glow as large silhouettes started to appear growing closer to the group.

To this, David lifted up his shotgun to the air.

"Empower!" A wave of blue light cascaded across the group, strengthening them.

Mary raised her own staff, yelling out. "Bestow Protection!"

Immediately a light veil appeared over everyone's body, cloaking them in the power's protection.

The only one that didn't move was once more, Aelwanna. She simply stood still in between Mary and David, keeping a watchful eye on the latter to the point where once again, he felt a shiver down his spine.

But, he couldn't mind that right now, there were more important matters at hand. 

He looked around, seeing the silhouettes advance to them, thanks to Thamiel he also saw their rankings, luckily all of them were E Rank, simply fodder demons.

"Mission Added: Slay all the demons single-handedly to unlock the ability to use the powers and skills of any set you own, but within your overall current Rank. Do you choose to accept it?"

A grin slowly formed on David's face as he pumped his shotgun, aiming it high. "Accepted."

He ran straight ahead into a group of demons, all of them summoning forth large tendrils with the tips ending in sharpened fangs akin to swords.

They shot straight at him and he used his increased speed to roll over into a broken wall, nearly getting skewered as the fangs pierce through the concrete.

David then shot the fangs from their tails, disarming them of their weapons before rolling out and shooting two more in the head. 

However, in the middle of his assault, one of them leapt forward and swiped away at the shotgun, destroying it in one go.

In response he drew his longsword, cutting off its head before throwing it into another demon's stomach, killing both at once as they disappeared.

Yet more kept on coming without fail, one even managed to stab him through his leg, but through Mary's protection and his heightened endurance, he managed to bare with it.

But it was just one of many that continued to slash away at him. Their claws sunk deep and one even managed to bite into his arm, nearly ripping it off if not for him placing his hand on its face.

"Knockback!"

In a flash, the demon was sent flying away, splattering into a wall.

Mary gasped and ran forward to aid David, but she was stopped by Aelwenna who narrowed her eyes. "No… he can do it."

And she was right, He rushed ahead, cutting down the rest of the demons until he heard both Thamiel's and Antonio's voices.

"This area is clear, the mission has been completed, granting access to skills and powers from all owned sets."

"Ah, all demonic entities have been dealt with, and thanks to this, we have a route to where they could have come from! Congratulations, you did quite well."

David laughed before falling to his knees, taking a deep breath as the adrenaline started to fade from his body, causing him to feel woozy before he fell over and everything went black.
